On micah parson’s podcast he had jordan love on and straight up asked him what GB’s plan was before going into the WC game. Jordan told him “run the ball” because they knew Dallas never fixed their LB position. He told micah “I think yall had a DB playing linebacker” The Bills are a team I like to watch for fun (I’m a niner fan) and I remember Cook had a DAY when they played them. Josh only had to throw like 5 times that game. lol
That's right cuz even Josh himself had success rushing against us.

Zimmer is know for holding his players accountable so hopefully that changes the play on defense. Bringing in actual LB's would help too, this year was tough cause Overshown was hurt before the season and lost LVE during. Ready to see what Overshown can do this upcoming season & hopefully they draft/sign another solid LB to pair with him since LVE may never play again.

When they lost LVE, I saw it coming. The 3 games that stand out were SF, Buff, and Miami where the run game at the most opportunistic time favored the opposite teams mentioned gave the defense problems. Big problems.

@@juansantana7041no LVE is fighting injuries, if he plays again he might get a permanent injury. So he might retire early. If he does come back he might get less playtime

When LVE got hurt we should have IMMEDIATELY moved Micah to LB 50% of the time. You can still line him up at DE on passing situations, but on 1st and 10 he should be at MLB. IDC if you blitz him from there 50% of his LB snaps, but we need the extra size.

Yo! Spot on. I said this those last few games I saw this consistently happening with BELL getting blown out . respect his hard work and stepping up to the plate for vander esch missing out , but bell is not a linebacker.
Utilize his speed somewhere else . We need a monster in the middle .
The only linebacker you had left was Parsons which Dallas was playing on the edge. When you think about it, its amazing they got as far as they did.

This is why Dak should have been MVP this past season. You take Dak away from the Cowboys' offense and do you really think they are anywhere near as good with Cooper Rush? They're not.
A lot of people will mention the Cowboys winning 5 games with Cooper Rush as the QB. What they DON'T mention is the Cowboys offense was ranked 26th in the NFL and 26th or worse in EVERY offensive category during that stretch and that happened when the defense DIDN'T have a ton of injuries at LB.
Baltimore could win games when Lamar Jackson had bad games and barely had any or even no TDs. However, the Cowboys would have had a losing record without Dak. Just go look up the majority of the scores for the Cowboys this season and how many of those points came from passing TDs then subtract that from the score of that game. The first 6 games may be the exception due to the extremely vanilla offense the Cowboys were running during that stretch.

Which is why it is completely absurd that Micah wasn't lining up at LB.
Yes, he's a great pass rusher. But we had other guys that are good pass rushers. We NEEDED some competency at the LB position, and Micah is still a really good LB. Hell, you can even blitz him from the LB position half the time and probably get better per-rush results that way.

We will definitely be a lot more disciplined and the guys will be put in the best position for the TEAM. 1000 Pressures doesn't matter if their hitting you for 25 on 3rd and 9 consistently. All the respect in the world to Bell for staying with it all yr. He was outweighed by 100# plus play after play. That won't happen when Zimmer takes over.

Our run defense was a little better when we had LVE at LB

There are two issues with the run defense that go hand in hand. First, the offense is one dimensional, and only focuses on passing the ball. Although Dak’s numbers might look great and he might put up 40 points against the lowly Giants and Commanders, teams that pass often are on and off the field much more quickly than teams that run the ball more often. Therefore, the defense is on the field longer, plays more snaps per game, and will eventually tire towards the end of the season, which is when their conditioning should kick them into a higher gear. The mere fact that this team has kicked way too many field goals, even during their blowout wins, is a clear indication they do poorly in short yardage and goal line situations. For this, they need to ensure the three interior OL are excellent run blockers and their running back is a bruiser. Ball controlled offenses do extremely well, especially during the playoffs when go up against better teams. Ball controlled offenses tend to keep low scoring games but win a majority of them. Look at the Cowboys from the 90s. A balanced offense became a dynasty. Now the defense. Defenses should be either a 3-4 or 4-3. There should not be a hybrid because the personnel needs to reflect either one of the other. As of now, only Demarcus Lawrence on defense will excel in either. Also, regardless what that defense is being played, a safety cannot be your middle linebacker. That does not work. If playing a 4-3, then at least one tackle should command a double team. If a 3-4, then all three linemen should be oversized and command double teams in order to free up the linebackers to make the plays. Parsons should be put back as outside linebacker and they need true linebackers who are strong, powerful, aggressive, quick, fast and intelligent. This is a must, and they must stop relying on guys who are mostly injured and/ or injured to lead this team.

You have a bunch of undersized linebackers on the D-Line! You have to have some space-eaters to clog the line.

ILB is our biggest weakness for sure.
A good defensive coach knows that there is a time for everything. Playing the high-pressure/ turnover creating type of defense that Quinn likes only works when you have a lead. If you're behind, the other team isn't taking risks for you to capitalize on. So you need to both have the personnel and the willingness to change it up depending upon the situation.
When we're in a close game with a team that is running the ball, we should move Micah to LB. As good as he is as a Pass Rusher, it doesn't do much good when the other team doesn't need to pass.
And the GB game, before it got out of hand, once we saw that they were stuffing it down our throats like they did, we never adjusted. We had players we could have moved around to stop them, but we stayed in the same type of defense even though it is basically ineffective when you don't have a lead.
Cowboys definitely need some hard-hitting LB's like Ken Norton Jr. again. Players who, when they make contact with the ball-carrier, the ball-carrier is pushed *back*, and not allowed to fall forward.
But I say let Bell be a safety and watch him be the next big thing on our defense people don’t understand how he had to change positions but he handle it well till the playoffs but still respect let JK go to Washington
He also mentioned watching film. So he can't really answer the question with details because he hasn't seen exactly what the problem is yet.
Finally some discipline on the field and accountability. I hope this is the end of the cowboys leading the league in penalties era. I’m super excited about this addition

After the Packers first two drives, I pretty much knew it was over because the Cowboys' defense couldn't stop a cold.

You didn't like that answer well what answer were you expecting him to give you 🤷 First he does not know his personal yet, he has not seen the film yet he has to do an assessment before he can give you a concrete answer on what he's going to do about the run. Plain and simple he needs the information so that he can put together a blueprint he does not have all the information yet. So again, what kind of answer were you expecting?

We have good personnel if we let them play their position that they’ve been playing for years. Mike and DQ need to stop trying to make guys play multiple roles.. then address the fact that defense is missing some pieces for rotation and to start . Some guys like

Quinn is good! Very good even. But his lack of accountability and adjustments makes me think he didn’t want to win a ring with Dallas. He wanted the best situation to head coach for. Washington with the number 2 overall pick is a pretty good situation. He really needs to win 2 more games more than the 23 season to keep his job there. If they can beat Dallas, then he will probably get 3 years of leniency even with losing records in all three. I really like DQ. But I wasn’t really sad to see him leave. I think Zimmer can get this Defense to improve in the run Defense. Great Pass defense and improve to 12-16th against the run would yield huge dividends. Top 10 against the run and no fall off in the pass game would yield a Superbowl appearance for sure. Of course the offense needs to improve the run game.
OT, center, RB, DT and OLB and/or ILB are what I would focus on in the draft and Free agency.
Quinn knows the Dallas O well so I anticipate Dog fights next season with Commanders
