Auntie Beaty with Maureen Lipman, for British Telecom, were funny. Mum's favourite was the one with a pre One Foot in the Grave actor Richard Wilson. Beaty was asking have you got it in this colour or that, what about this size or that? After giving him the run around she asks him if he's got all the colours? A frustrated Richard Wilson says that he's got All the colours in All the sizes! To which Beaty replies with, its not what you call the rage then is it? At which point you see RW in the shop about to beat up a manikin. There were quite a few of them, as well as a fair few Carling Black Label ones too.
The Hofmeister advert was genius. In fact most of them were. The Flake ad is pure porn. I remember the Milk Tray dude actually did that and nearly broke his neck. They only let him do one take. And literally every kid at school was singing the Um Bongo song. Proper earworms. The Barnes Wallace Carling ad won a boatload of awards.
Is the Dambusters advert with the 'bouncing bomb', the British proving they don't mind being the butt of a joke and can laugh at themselves 😂As I'm guessing that Carling came up with this cracker of an idea, following one of many infamous defeats by Germany in a penalty shoot out during the World Cup. It is superb! 😂
It was only later, after he had risked his life on a daring mission to deliver the box of chocolates, that agent X found out that the recipient was actually a diabetic and the whole enterprise was a complete waste of time!

There are no descent adverts to talk about nowadays... they are just easily forgettable. Back in the 80s we only had 4 channels so pretty much everyone was watching them and sometimes the ads were better than the TV programmes. The Carling Black label is the absolute best on here. I doubt very much, that in today's society a lot of these adverts could be shown on TV for fear of offending someone. Jeez......

The Cadbury’s Flake ad and the Milk Tray ad were classic ads, almost with a story-line!! They don’t make ads like that today.
Very true matey
Today's ads r very annoying
Anyone remember lilt with the totaly tropical taste🎶🎵..or hello tosh got a Toshiba..or nothing sparkles like a babycham🎶🎵
Remember all of those 😉
I always remember, Toshiba: "Your TV, well bless my soul, reflects the light like a goldfish bowl."
Or... re-record not fade away....re-record not fade away etc...
Or "Get Bizzy with the fizzy...schps schps...Soda Stream!"
Lovely trip back to a fab decade - cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
Oh my goodness, these ads are better than today's tv programs, thank you so much for posting
Classic ads matey
And now i understand what my granny meant when she kept saying she wanted a visit from the Milktray man 😅
🤣 that’s funny 😉🍺
When adverts were worth watching. Now we do everything possible to avoid them.
So true !
I believe that everyone in east or west wishes to go back to those lovely decades,70s and 80s.
😉
A couple of those ads could be on TV today and you would never know they were 80s .... Apart from the fact they were actually good!
Agreed
When adverts were art, not this pap we have now
Liked the Hofmeister bear 🐻
@@OGDuffy yeah I heard he got canned quite literally because he had become an icon for lad culture in the 80’s, shame that

Absolute classics all of them, and thanks I will be singing um bongo all night now

Took that long 😂 most knew then lol
One of my favourites was the 'Camay' advert ... 'Soft as flowers, tender as Love' - but i can't find it shown anywhere
Good shout
Caatrol GTX advert was number 1 for me. That sinister music while the drop of oil rolled around the engine. That song was incredible.
I remember those ads …. Quality 😎

We spend half our life on UA-cam skipping adverts yet we sit through these ones and watch them with no problem😂
I know matey... Crazy isnt it !
I remember these like they where yesterday. Dont forget the adverts for John Smiths beer with the dog and the Lambert and Butler cigarette adverts.

The adverts were actually worth watching during the 1980s.
😉
Orson Welles directed some of the Hofmeister ads with George the bear. Hw was very unpicky about what he did for money by then.

How about Jif Lemon Day, with gormless woman with a yellow beady necklace and odd little piano jingle? How about Ferrero Rocher?
So many ads from that era
I loved the ads in those days, mainly because they didn't take themselves so seriously. PS, gotta love that Bear, Quality.
George the Hofmeister bear 🍺
The lack of the Country Life Buttermen in this list makes me a little sad, but, I cannot deny the others are memorable as well.
