80s & 90s Ads - Discontinued British Snacks You Probably Forgot About | Retro TV Adverts Compilation

- 50 fun 80s & 90s TV adverts for discontinued British snacks - how many of these old school treats do you remember? Some were sold (and still are) in the USA, Australia and many other countries but have since been discontinued in the UK. These ads brought back tons of memories, it’s surreal how many we forgot we loved (and now desperately miss!) and how many we didn’t realise no longer exist (and now really, really want!).
This compilation of childhood memories includes nostalgic television commercials for Britain’s iconic sweets, snacks, cereal, candy, desserts and retro food that no longer exist (sometimes we get lucky and they come back but usually for a limited time only). They’re funny, weird and wonderful. By popular demand, a few companies cashed in on the nostalgia and brought back some of our favourite classic candies, but not often for very long and without the cool toys, prizes, stickers and tokens we used to collect as kids back in the day.
Which should make a comeback? Let us know below!

Why pin this.😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@user-oi5wm1od2k Probably because timestamps are helpful, a lot of channels pin them.
@@icarusalchemist1398 McVitie's manufactured Trios after Jacob's discontinued them so I included both names 👍
Bless you for doing this. Thank you x
Chocolate is crap now since it was either sold to the yanks or the Swiss. Give me the old Cadburys or Rowntrees any day.
Crap since the sugar had to be removed, same with cereals
Was crap because of the removal of dairy to increase shelflife and increased melting point@@waynetttttt
Trio was absolutely awesome!
I want Terry's Neopolitan's back. Then again, I want Terry's, Rowntrees and all the rest back as independent British companies, so we can once again enjoy the sweet treats we all miss.
Too right, most of these companies have been bought out by huge American conglomerates. Swizzels is still going strong though!
I used to love Neapolitans
The Cadbury's chocolate doesn't taste the same since American company took over
@@Jason-sx6suno they don’t that’s for sure
The TOPIC is badly missed!
They still sell them in my local shop.
Look how long the Marathon (now Snickers) bars were!
Amazing after 30 years I remember these the moment they start.... brains are weird!
Oh my god! Fruitangs!! I forgot about those. I loved them so much!😊
Anyone remember Apple Jack and Postman Pat sweets? They were penny sweets and had a wrapper on them. Can still get Black Jacks and Fruit Salads. We need to get a campaign started to get Bassetts to make them again.
Nestle secret bars were the best
The original timeouts was so nice! The modern timeout bars are a national crime 😂
Not as tasteless as Blue Riband, how the hell are they still being produced?! It's like eating a mouthful of dust.
@@katewolfspirit6722 another national disgrace Kate 😂
@@redman9pablo Do you mean me or Blue Riband? 😆
@@katewolfspirit6722 the blue ribbon 😂
@@redman9pablo 😉
This just re-unlocked a part of my brain... them Cadbury astros and wonka bars were amazing
Astros can still be imported from South Africa online. It's always a nostalgia trip.
Trio bars are still available in some places! My local Co-Op sells them!
We have since learned this and will be stocking up shortly 😎
This is great news, thanks!
And farmfoods
My local Asda also sells them
I'm off to hunt some down!!
Marathons were so much larger than snickers and yet exactly the same thing. I miss the days when you werent ripped off for your money.
All chocolate bars were larger back then than they are now even a standard Mars bar is about a third smaller in size to what it used to be and they are now around the size of what was then.
Marathon bars were so much bigger that one advert implied that you could slice one up!
Cabanas and Cresta pop, yummmmm!!!!
You really wouldn't see an ad these days where a pilot almost crashes a commercial jet, just so he can eat some chocolate 😂
How do you know??😂
Nor would you see an advert anymore with white cockneys 😂
That's John Peel on the end of some of those Trio adverts, and Kenneth Williams on the Terry's Pyramint advert.
I miss Fuse and Secret, especially Fuse.
Trevor and Simon..."we don't do duvets do we ?" Loved them .
Swing your pants!
Marathon wasn't discontinued it was rebranded to Snickers
No shit
The milk turns yellow just like the banana flavored snow outside my doghouse!
I’m sure this has been said to you way more than once but ‘that took me back for real !’
Anyone else twig that the Logger bar ad is to the tune of Monty Python's Lumberjack song?
Yes indeedy
I'm now missing Woolies pick and mix again after watching this and all those weird ice lollies that used to exist. 😋💔
I remember cider flavour ice lollies..just tasted of apple. And strawberry mivvy (not sure of spelling?)
@@katewolfspirit6722yeah I remember cider ice lollies
I loved the Cresta bear adverts. ❤️
OMG - Strawberry Cresta. I loved that stuff when I was a kid. My mum always bought one for me when we went to Woolies 🙂❤️
It’s frothy, man!
Time out is still readily available. One bar I miss though is Spira, they were awesome
Time Out is really different now, nowhere near as good 😭
Spiras were amazing, still miss them to this day.
Spiras were amazing, still miss them to this day.
Ooooh!!. Cabana was my favourite!!! Delicious.
I loved hippo strawberry mousses, secret bar and Cadbury’s snowflake. I didn’t remember them until I saw the adds 🤪
LOVED a cardburys fuse !
I really wish that Cadbury’s would bring Icebreaker back! It was wrapped in a metallic-looking light blue paper and the chocolate had shards of mint in it - delicious!
Not seen a trio biscuit in years.
Tudor crisps......the pickled onion and tomato ones especially were the best! What happened to them? And does anyone remember KP had hedgehog flavoured ones too? They weren't around for very long but they did exist! KP also did beef and salt and vinegar chip sticks and they were really tasty too! Biarritz chocolates too!
I remember the hedgehog crisps, you're not on your own there!
@@janinemills6732 most people think I'm making it up! I never tried them but apparently they tasted like beef crisps! Xxxx
Kp still do need mini chips
@@markmcdonald5681 never seen them but they were very flavoursome and seemed to last for ages unlike a bag of crisps now.....x
@@sheilamitchell2215 I remember the hedgehog crisps as well. I've mentioned them over the years and got some funny looks. Some people just have crap memories.
Some of these I don't remember, but that Trio one was fine, I love the rap, so darn catchy and Betty Boo like, love that!
Loved the Texan bars. Haven’t seen that advert since I was a child.
I remember that Texan bar advert - it's from the late 1970's/early 80's. Man, I'm old.
I remember five alive and mini milk and feast lollies too, oh and ice pops and astros, toffo, and a lollipop that played music in your ears when you bit it.
I loved Texans they were to die for lol
New Game, take a shot everytime you hear TRIOO TRIIOOOOO
I will always love Trevor and Simon...
Baked Beans On Pizza 🍕 Sounds Amazing 🧡😍🤩
There's a takeaway in Liverpool called nabzys that do them
Orrell Park ?
this has taken me back, loved Astros and the Wonka Xploder bar
Both fantastic choices. The Cadbury bar with the popping candy is a great successor to the Wonka bar though!
I really wish I was around to try those
I can still remember the feeling of the popping candy in the back of my throat when you ate it. Was such a weird feeling
ew I didn’t like that Wonka bar thing.
I mean, candy inside chocolate? OTT and sugar overload.
Plus they barely did any other products did they? And stopped trading quite quick
Onken Fru fo, I loved those! Especially the little from age frais filled chocolates. I still have an Angel Christmas tree ornament I got in a box of those.
I remember feeling so grown up whenever I had a pyramint. Don't remember the bars tho
I adored Fiendish Feet!!!! I used to run to the yogurt aisle in our John Lewis when it had a food hall in it and buy them! Ive now got the mug I bought from ebay!
John Lewis is way too posh to do a grocery shop, why didn’t you just go Tesco? Or Sainsbury? 🤣
I really wish CABANAS come back!!!
A favourite of mine too....short lived chocolate bar
Do you guys remember the chocolate UFOs with yogurt inside them? I think they were made my Danone.. came with a little alien toy too. They were so good!! 90s kid 👦🏽
I do, loved them. They were made by Onken and were filled with raspberry from age frais. Came with a little toy too.
Such nostalgia, most of these I remember. I recall how annoying I found the Trio adverts 😂.
I loved Ricicles, Time Out, Cresta, Corn Pops...I'm guessing most were discontinued due to high sugar content?
The Baked Bean and Cheese pizza sounds nice!
It wasn’t. I remember my mum getting me it and like all premade pizzas it barely resembled the advert / box art 🤣
@@projectzip oh really?! What a shame because in theory beans and cheese on a pizza sounds like a winning combination.
@@Simon-ef1zj oh yes, easy to make one yourself 👍🏻
I miss ricicles
I distinctly remember corn pops being so sweet they'd make me sick, so I'd eat them to get days off school & chill playing SNES watching my WWF videos 😂
For any trio lovers.. there is a new 'Munchies' out. Its salted caramel fudge and tastes like trios. I forgot trios even existed till I tried the new munchies.
Snickers rhythms with knickers. 😁
Quatro drink. Miles ahead of Lilt and probably the best fizzy drink going (at that time). Decent ad too. Toffos, highland chew bar, Wham bar, Pacers. There was also a bar a bit like a pacer but can't remember the name of it.
Cadbury Astros were some of my favourite candy growing up.
A few of these are still available mainly trio and zoom. I used to love the baked bean pizza and banana bubbles.
Wild. Just wild.
These adverts were fun. I was born in 88 and remember adverts being in the 90's being colourful and fun. Un bongo was my favourite. And I just about remember a lemonade advert with a polar bear that no one seems to remember. Companies are more interested in having diversity in there adverts these days than the actual product they are selling
Cresta! It's frothy man!
I remember cresta! And um ognob a different blend of um bongo.
such fun ! UK Marathon = US Snickers UK Curly Wurly = US Marathon
I grew up with Corn Pops in the 60's, UK didn't get them til the 80's?
Simon & Trevor was peak British 90s
Toys in cereal boxes... the nostalgia
Marathon bars actually being big (before the name got changed to match the US, I think)
Secret bars were amazing
I've not seen Trio bars for decades... where the blooming heck are people finding them?! They were incredible so I need to know! 😁
It was originally Snickers everywhere except for the UK and Ireland, where it was branded Marathon, presumably because “Snickers” was thought to sound too similar to the word “knickers”. It would have been like trying to market a chocolate bar in the US called “Spanties”…..
Well we all thought it was strange to name a chocolate bar so close to the slang term for dioreah. Skitters. Everyone at the time commented on it.
@@simonmoore2380no it was always called marathon never snikers
bring back pacers!!!
I remember funny feet, they never looked that convincing and was always disappointed when taking the wrapper off. Also, I remember Nutty Bar! It was fudge rolled in peanuts, that was one of my favourites and so was Milk Tray bar, now that was a proper treat!
They are still available they brought them back ages ago?
I loved the fizzy jerkz and Wonka ads
Miss eating yowies
Those Heinz pizzas were awesome, the beans and sausage one was amazing.
If I had even the slightest inclination to try a Trio bar (I didn't), it was wiped out after watching that barrage of irritating adverts for it. Thank you for spacing them out.
WOW Fizzy Jerkz - totally forgot about them.
Banana Bubbles live on in my memory every day
Texan advert must of been early 80's...loved Cabana bar
Weird! I don't remember some of these and I am certainly old enough.
I loved Baked Beans Pizza! The best food I ever had when I first on my own!
I miss Ricicles so much! I even liked the marshmallow version. Also loved Cadbury Astros. Time out are still available but in multi packs of single finger and don’t have flake in the middle, they’re rubbish now.
I’ve been looking for an advert from about 1996, it’s for a Cadbury product called something like Snackos and were bags of small biscuit rings coated in chocolate. The slogan was ‘a snack in the mouth’
Here you go, buddy
ua-cam.com/video/zqbjRsDf9oI/v-deo.html
Loved fuzzy jerkz last time i saw them was about 16 years ago used to get them in the vending machine in high school
Drifters were really good. Space dust or as they were renamed as Space rocks.. My brother gave some to our dog and got a thick ear for it.
Wow, they'd never get away with that Texan bar one now.
I want a Trio :(
The Texan Bar will alwys be my fave the Marathon second and the Trio third.
The baked bean pizza was my favourite pizza ever!!!!
7:48 Trey Parker's inspiration for Cannibal! The Musical 🤠
I was born in 1991 so many old confectionery products I've never tried. Cadbury who under Mondelze also own Fry's, Maynard Bassetts and Trebor are celebrating their 200th Anniversary next year in 2024! So Fuse, Spira, Aztec, Amazing Rasin, Astros, Tropical Fruit , Wispa Bite, Cadbury Lime, Fry's Five Centre, Bassetts Dessert Allsorts, Bassetts Fruit Allsorts, Bassetts Milkshake flavour jelly Babbies, and many other product's etc should all be relaunched to celebrate 200 years!
Never realised before how much Kelloggs spend on getting sugar into kids!
Why did they stop making baked beans pizza I absolutely loved them
You can buy them in Iceland 👍
Fruitang were basically just Chewits with tangy sparkly bits in them.
You can still source Cadburys Astros online. I believe they're sold in South Africa only. So you have to pay to ferry them over and the usual inflated price per box. Still a nostalgia bullet though, I sometimes get them as a surprise birthday present as I keep forgetting they're still available.
Really miss Secret bars & Time Out!
New salted caramel munchies taste almost exactly like trios!! Treeeeeeos
No Rowntrees Nutty bar in brown wrapper, ? caramel wrapped all over in peanuts , insanely yummy. Terry's logger bar was delicious 😋
Oh god I not only remember some of these products, I can remember the exact words. I was able to predict what most of the ads were going to say. I remember the Banana bubbles song, I've had that in my head for 20 odd years.
lmfao ive had chambourcy song in my head since day 1 i watched..way down deep in da middle of the congo...when i find a shrink to help ill email u lol
Thanks for the memories.
Marathon didn’t quite go away they just named it snickers until years ago they changed it back for an limited edition.
Really want a Trio and a bowl of ricycles now.
Nostalgia
The ones that are still around are so much smaller, cream eggs, wagon wheels, walnut whips.....we all notice it
Pyramints are the only one I ever really cared about.
They were SO good! 😋
The Fruit Toffos advert made me miss Sean Lock all over again. RIP
Marathon bars! Wish you could still buy those...
I loved a cabana I don't know why they stoped makeing then
Too many of my old favourites here... .:) And I just KNEW "secret" was going to be in there somewhere, somehow....!
I'd forgotten how bad the old Marathon jingle compared with the Mars Bar's "A mars a day helps..." jingle. Such a shame that they reduced the salt content of the Marathon, it was never the same since.
They'd never get away with Flake adverts these days.
Just imagine the viral marketing fun you could have with the snowflake bar😂.
You can't beat a nosh on a flake!
The original pyramint (single pyramid with the mint filling) wad far nicer than the bar they turned it into with the mint choc mouse like filling.
Yeah, Pyramint was the dog's doo dahs! Wish they would bring them back...
Priced themselves out of the market
I hadn’t realised I was word perfect on the fruitang advert.
marathons aka snickers were near double the size u get now...i loved the funny feet...can anyone remember space dust lol or double deckers not the choc ones the findus ones....or coop bar b ribs....but anyway any 70s child will tell u back then was awesome out till dark playing..jacked up on sugar lmao those were the days.
the barbe ribs were made by bernerd matthews and they were gawjusness lol
i say out till dark cos mother knew u gotta burn that shit off first or u still bouncing around at midnight..oh god mums are smart lol
Baked bean pizza lovely
I can still taste Fiendish Feet now
