ok I love this one because it's one of the few songs Josh sings that's actually from his point of view. most of his songs are Rebecca's fantasy of what Josh thinks (Boy Band, Ping Pong Girl) and what we do get from his POV is so much shallower than Rebecca's idea of him (Angry Mad). this is seriously one of the only real insights we get into what's going on in that big flip flop head.
laney bobaney i actually think angry mad was from his POV because it never showed Rebecca imagining him in the scenario. I think it was just representative of how under developed his emotional maturity or self awareness is.
Boy Bond wasn't a Rebecca's fantasy of what Josh thinks, it was a way for show to present a problem of young single struggling people who for some reason believe that romantic relationship is what they need the most and it will solve all their problems and "fix them". I know people like that and I really like this song, always feel like sending it to them when listening to it, maybe they would get it.

I'd always loved video games and books, but despite that I couldn't enjoy the ones I'd gotten that day at all, on top of feeling empty and small. This terrified me. It made me wonder what would happen if I stopped enjoying everything, if nothing made me happy anymore, and if I could stop loving people, like my mom. It sounds silly now, but as someone who was barely more than a child without a lot of emotional experiences or perspective, I couldn't help but feel existential dread in response to the feeling. So kudos to the writers for somehow capturing this profound feeling in what seems like a ridiculous once-off line!
Nono, you are right. I personally move a lot through fandoms, I promise I could feel how I was getting far from the one I was before and god, it felt so empty. Now I enjoy being in the fandom I am, but every time I feel myself even a little bit apart from it or other one I'm like "Oh no, not again". It is not the exact same thing but I get you

It takes 24-27 for a human brain to mature and when you're 15-16 years old, the parts of your brain associated with labeling and expressing emotion have already matured but your prefrontal cortex is still underdeveloped and you need the prefrontal cortex to regulate those emotions and put them in perspective. This is why teenagers at that age have the most intense emotions because they have to capacity to feel emotions as strong as an adult's emotions but they cannot control or regulate those emotions. My adolescent psychology professor said this on the topic "you will never experience fear the way you experienced fear as an adolescent but you will also never fall in love the way you fall in love as an adolescent."

He's suppressing his guilt, fears and depression with smiles and happiness. Like many of us do. We're so surprised when we see a comedian commit suicide. Kind of reminds me of a friend who was always super bubbly. One day, a girl had committed suicide in our campus library and I wrote my friend a message about how thankful I am to have her because I was so depressed and being around her and being funny, quirky and weird kept me alive. Then she wrote back that she was also battling depression and hanging out with me being weird and funny kept her alive too. I had no idea that she was depressed before that. Also kind of reminds me of Robin Williams.

Honestly me. I recently injured my wrist so my job moved me from working with chemicals to packaging, to avoid an infection. It's a much more isolated job and this is me every fucking day.
