The tribute at the end to Anthony Bourdain was very fitting as Bourdain was a lover of food. Thank you Hollywood Graveyard and Rest In Peace Anthony Bourdain 🌸🌺
Dude, I'm not exactly sure how to put into words the enjoyment you bring me from these videos. Who knew that graveyards and death could be this enjoyable, but you manage to do it on a GRAND scale.
I am humbled by the amount of work that went into this video. Arthur Dark's evolving genius continues to diversify but maintains the unique charm and creativity that we all have come to know and love. Thank you, Arthur, for your continued dedication to producing such wonderful and informative videos.
Man dude, you really need to see if like the Travel Channel or one of the other channels will pick this up and make a series out of it. You never cease to amaze me every time you come out one of these. I personally think it would be hit!!!
Great video! The importance of fast-food founders was brought home - literally - when Dave Thomas of Wendy’s fame passed. My mother worked at Wendy’s, and it almost felt like we’d lost a member of the family. And my late MIL loved Reese’s cups so much that I mentioned that love in her eulogy. She always kept a bag of the miniatures on hand. Thanks for all your hard work!
I grew up in Southern California...have seen many of these establishments while they were still "Serving The Public" and remember many being in the news because of being demolished! People will chime in that one or two were left off the list...but this was a fun ride down Memory Lane for this Beach Bum now abiding in Ohio....Cheers Everyone
Hi. Every state/country has there own foods. I'm from arizona we called our long chocolate doughnuts long johns, when i moved to oregon and asked for one she said where you from, lol. It's all interesting, fun. Death is something we all have in common and history. Would love to see the popular names of your restaurants. Blessings
This series is lovely. So well done by Mr. Dark and his wry delightful sense of humor and reverence and respect for the deceased. Never morose. The music and editing are so professional, you forget it’s UA-cam. Thank you for all the episodes. Julie, Tyler Texas
Great video! I well remember slogging in the jungle in Vietnam, looking forward to a cold beer but strangely satisfied with Hershey Chocolate, a taste and reminder of home with a needed energy boost. Still love the stuff, and cold beer. SEMPER FI🇺🇸
I'm originally from Hershey! I worked at all 3 places! The Hershey Chocolate Factory on the KISS line, the Reese's plant on the miniature cup line and at Hersheypark for 4 years in both food service & entertainment! As a matter of fact 3 of my family members are buried in a plot at the Hershey Cemetery about 10 feet from Milton S. Hershey's grave!!
I grew up in Chicago and always thought that location was the 1st opened. Today I learned something, and that makes me happy. Thanks for these really great respectful but entertaining videos, it's important to remember our past.
This was great! Lots of good stuff in here! I have to wonder if there will be a part two because who can forget Taco Bell and the founder is buried in CA.
Yeah but Glen Bell died and he was buried in his own private family graveyard on a ranch he purchased in San Diego County. I looked it up but I also looked up Robert O Paterson, the founder of Jack-N the-Box, a San Diego icon because the man attended San Diego State followed by UCLA, where the man majored in Economics. After WWII Paterson opened up several fast food places with the name of Topsy's or Oscars in the San Diego area. It was due to the two speaker feature from the box with the clown on top, that the real innovation of Jack-N-the-Box took off because i do remember that at a many of the McDonalds, a person had to get out of their car and order at the window.
I know. I'm from San Gabriel and one of the Taco Tias was located on the corner of Las Tunas Boulevard and Earle. The first Taco Bell opened in 1962 in the City of Downey.
Bell died from a heart attack on January 16, 2010, at age 86 in Rancho Santa Fe, California. He was survived by his wife Martha, four sons, a daughter, four grandchildren, and three sisters. Source Wikipedia.
This was a very interesting topic to cover, considering the death of Anthony Bourdain really brought to light the influence one can have on people who love to travel and explore someone’s culture by its food. Keep up the great work on the videos 👍🏻
R.I.P 🌹 W. K. Kellogg. Battle Creek, MI. That's my home state, R.I.P 🌹Richard McDonald, I remember when the BIG MAC came out they were a lot BIGGER then and we're Only .50 cents back then. Use to go to Baskin-Robbins all the time when I was a kid. R.I.P 🌹 H.B. Reese. I love the peanut butter cup!
Mr. Dark, thank you so much for introducing me to most of the people that made me what I am today.......................FAT. As usual an excellent video. Here in Columbus there was a chain of fast foods called "Sandy's" This was before McDonald's came to town if I'm correct. Hamburger's were a quarter and fries were a dime, I think. No drive through, you had to walk in. But it was worth it. They are all gone now, but I give them credit for introducing me to fast (fat) foods and my wife of 54 years. Thanks again.
Hollywood Graveyard is my only subscription on You Tube. Your videos are enjoyable and very nostalgic. I was thinking while I watched the food version, you forgot about Dave Thomas from Wendy's. If you are interested, he is in Union Cemetary in Columbus, Ohio in a mausoleum. Just thought you'd want to know.
I worked for McDonald's years ago when Ray Kroc was still alive. The restaurants then definitely had standards to meet. You can certainly see a decline since his death. Arthur--awesome job as usual. Thank you so much.
Brenda Modrak Kroc was a brilliant businessman and the McDonald guys really didn't receive much in the buyout because they were too trusting. Their families did try to sue but it was unsuccessful and I hope people learned from their misfortune of not securing your name and revenue.
This has been one of the most beautiful videos I've seen all day, but if you don't mind, I would like to include a piece of San Francisco history here... The Doggie Diner. I only saw 4 of them in San Francisco during the years that I lived there so it was hardly a chain or franchise like McD's. But still, it was fun in its own way and that was the best part. I remember that all the stores had these huge statues of the dogs out front with their chef's hats (or culinary condoms) on. I don't think that Doggie Diner is in business anymore, but if anyone happens to know, please tell me. Thanks for the great videos and for the memories.
Ken Griffiths, Cadbury's and the refined art of tea consumption are the UK's greatest gifts to western civilization (nevermind all of that parliamentary democracy, Shakespeare, and Magna Carta stuff). In a minor bit of oddness (for lack of a better word), did you know that, in the US, Hershey has the exclusive distribution rights to all of Cadbury's chocolate products?
Hi again..my brother and I used to live in Anaheim near the original Carls and we went to Loara Hi with their daughter Carleen Karcher (b. 1947 d. 1993) she was in my brothers class. I was a year younger.

GREAT VIDEO MR. DARK!!! So interesting and very informative...Thanks for all your hard work and dedication put in to this and your channel!!! 😘I LOVE THIS... KEEP THEM COMING!!! 👍👌☝
I had bought some peanut butter cups recently, and had to run to the fridge when you mentioned Hershey and Reese - I feel like Homer Simpson when I am eating a peanut butter cup.
There’s another fast food founder entombed about 3 Miles from my house here in Columbus, Ohio. Dave Thomas founder of “Wendy’s” is in the Mausoleum at Union Cemetery :) I can get a picture for you if you ever do another video of food founders :) that is if you don’t visit here yourself :) I absolutely love your videos!!
Well done. I’m always impressed by the respect, thoughtfulness and informative value of your videos. Kudos to your nod to Anthony Bourdain at the end. Keep up the good work!!!
Add Dick Naugle to the next one! Naugles became Del Taco - but we all still mourn the loss of Naugles !!!! Also you should have added the Wrigley Memorial on Catalina Island - great back story and it has the most beautiful view of Avalon.
Ahhh the peanut butter cup, a favorite of mine. Thank you Mr Harry Reese, for bringing joy into the world with putting the chocolate in my peanut butter, the peanut butter in my chocolate.
This was a great idea! You should do something like this with old tv shows or movies. Do it by eras. Always wanted to see where all of the Golden Girls are placed. We've seen Estelle. But not the other two. Can go to other places like you did with the foods too. If their not all in California
Art, I have never heard of these doughnut places. Only Dunkin, Dandee and Krispy Kreme. I guess cause I'm from the East. Also In n Out burgers or Carls. How about Carroll's (oob) DQ, Sonic, BK, Wendys. Thanks for the real history of McDonald's. If the McDonald brothers only knew. Nathan not Pinks. IHOP the B could be breakfast. I love CardinI dressings. They used to make a pesto that was my favorite. How about Tom Carvel soft ice cream. I used to work for Juicey Juice at one time was owned by Nestles and Libbys. Love hearing your voice as usual
By an odd coincidence I just got back from a week long road trip that had me eating in an IHOP last Wednesday, and at a KFC all you can eat buffet... in Kentucky no less, on Tuesday night. Col. Sanders fried chicken was a little too good and I over indulged to the point of suffering heartburn that night. Another great video. And yes, I'm hungry now.
Wow Arthur, Not only am I hungry now, but amazed and pleasured by your informative and interesting vid. You traveled to all these places? So fascinating to learn and see the graves of all these people, that we just seem to take for granted, or not even think of at all as we enjoy our meal at their establishments. Thank you. I do! hehe

I loved this video. Lots of yummy food! Yes. Thank you Mr. Reese. Love Reese's pieces. Thank you for mentioning Anthony Bourdain. May he RIP.
The wheel, penicillin and Reese's peanut butter cup.
Totally ageee!
I'm more the plain chocolate or m&ms but my kids are adamant Reese's peanut butter cup fans
Thank you Arthur, every video is a winner. :)

Your videos are the best, and so well done. They make graveyards not so morbid and depressing. I agree Reese's peanut butter cups are the best.
There needs to be an episode featuring the gal from Ask A Mortician in it.
