    Robert stood up after his horse fell and he approached both Ser Arthur and Rhaegar, he wished to face Rhaegar, but Arthur stepped forward instead. “Move out of the way, Arthur.” Arthur shook his head and Robert scowled. “So be it. You shall fall as well.” Robert held his war hammer firmly.
    “And now it begins.” Said Ser Arthur Dayne, The Sword Of The Morning, he unsheathed Dawn and held it with both hands, the blade was as pale as milkglass and alive with light.
    Then the two met, what a fight it was, however in the end it was Ser Arthur Dayne who was victorious, skill and speed triumphed over strength and rage.

      EXACTLY. Like yeah I love young Robert as this bearlike warrior, but people are glazing him WAAAY too much in some of these braindead comments. Dayne only died cause Howland definitely used some crannogman magic (not talking about the bunkass show) and stabbed him in the back. Dayne (plus Gerold Hightower) and Selmy win it all.

    I doubt the retreat would happen. The if Robert died, then that’s the end of the war. The rebels would be trapped between the Green Fork and the Mountains with nowhere to go but North and then be captured by the Freys who would side with the Targs since victory is assured. The Mad King would demand Ned’s head, but I doubt Rhaegar would let that happen.

    Late to the video...but imo it wouldn't have made a difference...there were other Kings guards at the tridant including Baristan Selmy but none of them was guarding the prince instead he had them captaining sections of his army so its more likely that even Arthur Dayne would be else where.... IMO Rhaegar was very over confident that the prophecies protected him and his dynasty....I imagine that when Robert met him in the battlefield he must have definitely challenged Rhaegar to a 1v1 duel and Rhaegar must have accepted it.

    Arthur Dayne DIED in a 7vs3 melee...One on which num and his 3 other kingsguard spend weeks doing NOTHING in a Tower while the oposition spend weeks treking around a far harsher temps than they're used to and barelly rested while at it.
    And they STILL LOST.
    People overestimate TOO MUCH some figures in GoT. Dayne maybe great in a 1vs1duels. But this kind of battle is NOT a 1vs1. Rhaegar COULD NOT DARE to say no to a fight against Robert. This would be a declaration of cowardice for everyone.
    Its cute and all, but Its BS. That said, even if Robert died, there were other leaders on the rebelion side that would keep fighting because they could do nothing else anyway. The targaryen mad king had ordered their deaths and all they had was kill or be killed.

    • @HulkVahkiin
      @HulkVahkiin 4 місяці тому

      Your rationale falls flat on many levels.
      Yes - it was a 7 vs 3 melee so wouldn't the advantage go to Ned and his men? I don't see how emphasizing that he died and lost in a fight where he was at a disadvantage proves anything. Define 'barely rested', you think they didn't get there 8 hours or something? Harsher temps? Sure. But I see nothing to suggest they are too exhausted or it had any significant impact on the fight. This sounds reasonable, but for a fictional story that is under fantasy - this sounds like a reach.
      How about explaining what is the overestimation instead of claiming there is one? You are right that this kind of battle is not 1 vs 1 that is in the show and books, and in this video, even when Robert had his duel with whomever, their armies were still fighting around them. Rhaegar did not say 'no' to Robert any more than he said 'no' to Arthur's request to allow himself to fight Robert instead.
      Call it BS when you have better reasoning dude.
