Just a little tip in regards to food and water. When playing I've found the best way to stay on top of food is to have say 2 - 4 farm houses per farm you have and build heaps of storage because the hold up with farming isn't really actually how much the crops grow its how much is harvested, stored and planted. So if you have lots of people harvesting and lots of storage you'll have a heap of food and never run out. A prime example is your wheat farm, those crop circles are basically because the wheat is growing too fast for the beavers to harvest enough. And with water, the more storage the more water you'll accumulate over time.
As an FYI Matt, Beavers can only walk 70 blocks away from the town centre, as your super tower has 10 blocks/stairs between each flight they will only be able to use the first 5 large row houses after factoring the walk from the centre. I'd reccomend wrapping the stairs directly on the right side instead of round the back to minimize the blocks away from the centre by 2 each floor, which will be 6 or 7 large row houses high
@@hidan4098 then you have the problem of only being able to use 6 row houses in his current setup with the town centre at the top. Maybe on it's own platform half way up could do it
I haven't personally used this, but there is a mod that allows you to extend the district range. Maybe he could mess around with that for a little bit.

How about using Dynamite to increase the depth of the water at your first large carrot farm in the city center? The one that always seems to run out of water. Probably lower it by 2 levels that way You can use the water pumps with more freedom.
Lowering the water will actually worsen the effect on the crops, as the water level drops the less tiles it effects. So if he has a 3 block deep water once it gets to the lowest point he'll only have 4 tiles of carrots watered
@@more-reasons6655 I was thinking more along the lines of during wet season. Even if it does go down during drought, I think it will still have some parts green rather than having it all go brown and constantly worrying about the floodgates

"I've got far too much time on my hands apparently" is a mood. And if you're getting desperate for extra beavers, release the beaver-who-must-not-be-named and only refer to him as 'large william'
My Industrial District has gotten so big that my Beavers need an extra 4 hours to finish up work. My haulers take 4 in game hours to take what they are hauling from the point of origin to the destination at some times. They've started to loose sleep because of it. I've had to reduce their working hours from 16 to 12. Oddly enough, they still go to bed for only 2-4 hours every night. They spend the rest of the night partying.
Easy way to manage water - build a HUGE basin around the water source (stack levees 5 or 10 high, even). Have it empty somewhere away from your other stuff. Then inside of that build pumps at every altitude. Then put water dumps either all at the top of the main waterflow or just one or two in each area. That way, when it's dry season, you don't have to deal with raising/lowering anything; the dumps just continue to put out water at the exact same pace. As the reserve water level drops, the top-level pumps lose access but the lower-level pumps are exposed and automatically activate. So long as the reserve is large enough (and you have enough storage for drinking water) you should never have to touch water controls again.
They should definitely update the game to include billboards. From city names, district welcomings, or signs just for lols. Like this comment to gain momentum for this idea! Hopefully it gets picked up!
I absolutely love your energy and the amount of effort you put into these videos. I know this is nearly 2 years late, but I love watching you and this series. Cheers~
So with your builders there is a trick: just demolish those houses, the range will stay and they build as before but you can get the beaver's back. With that it was way easier for me to get across my map.
Around a month ago, I discovered this channel and this series. After a few videos, I stopped watching this series and bought a copy of Timberborn so I could discover what this game has to offer for myself. Since then I've completed a playthrough with the Folktails on easy difficulty and the Iron Teeth on normal difficulty. Both colonies have literally everything they could possibly want or need. For my Iron Teeth colony, a 9 day drought is nothing but but an inconvenience, (max length for normal mode?) no need to stop pumping water, no need to pause any jobs during droughts and all done with 60 or fewer beavers. This is the first video of the series that I've watched since buying the game. WTF did I just witness!! It figures that an engineer would MASSIVLY overcomplicate literally EVERYTHING.
Gotta say, I'm impressed at the talent it takes to engineer a housing solution that is so maximally inefficient. You don't end up doing that by accident.
Hey Matt you could add another small district that is completely self sufficient and has more water than it will ever need. If you just keep it small so it will never use up all of its water you should be able to repopulate other districts if a drought gets too long.
Perhaps you could add a Shame district, so you can control who has access to the Wheels of Shame with the district gate? You'd need to set up a transport route to feed them, of course.
