Jeff was one of the greatest guitar players ever. He often brought in new talent to his band. Tal is from Australia and is a heck of a bass player. You can see that Jeff enjoys playing with her and listen to her. She is older than she looks.😁😁😁

This whole Live At Ronnie Scott's video is phenomenal. The young bassist Tal was in the early stages of her career here. Now she's a solo artist in her own right. Jeff Beck was in the top 5 guitarists on the planet during his life. Glad you two loved this!!

Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the best session drummers in the industry. His resume is too long to read! He is the one who introduced Tal Wilkenfeld to Jeff Beck, and brought her to England to audition with him. Jeff knew almost instantly after Tal started playing that she was a great fit. But when he first saw her, he thought she was 12 years old!

Jeff played with Colaiuta, Bozzio, Phillips, Walden, Powell... even with Keith Moon. Drumming wasn't a joke for him.

I have to disagree, there is a video out there of Jeff playing "Going Down" with Stevie Ray Vaughn and it is not even close (sound and playing quality) as Jeff stands there in absolute awe of SRV!

    • @clsclearlightsound5594
      @clsclearlightsound5594 2 місяці тому

@@jamesdalton8539 That was Jeff Beck. He would always pay homage to anyone he respected as a player. I actually watched the video and listened to the audio. In this number, Jeff was playing the rhythm part while Stevie did the early leads. Then he'd fill in the later leads. This was one of Jeff's album numbers and they both played fantasticly, with Stevie singing. Bouncing off one another, they were really enjoying themselves playing together. It was a nice rendition and highly energized. Great performance by both players. SRV could shred, but then so could Beck. But he could do so much more with a guitar that no one could or can come close to. Time clears up everything.

Vinnie Colauta stumbled onto bassist 20 year old Tal Wilkenfeld in NY. She had come from Australia to try and make a name for herself. The bassist that was supposed play on this tour was Pino Pallidino. However, John Entwistle of the The Who passed away right before their tour was to start and Pino got the call to fill the spot. Vinnie told Jeff he found the a bass player and had Jeff send tickets for her to fly to London for an audition. Vinnie didn't tell him it was a young 20year old girl. She just showed up at his house and killed the audition. Tal has gone on to play for the biggest icons in the Rock and Jazz world. She is also a singer songwriter with recordings out as a solo artist.

An absolute guitar genius. Most players use effects pedals to produce sounds like this.

This live version is quite a bit different from the version on his album, "Blow By Blow", or maybe "Wired", where Jeff Beck dedicated the song to another great Guitar Player, Mr. Roy Buchanan (RIP). And Bassist Tal Wilkenfield, who Jeff brought to the world, is very, very talented. Got to see Jeff live in concert, on a double bill with Carlos Santana many years ago, an incredible event. Another short but great song by Mr. Beck (RIP) is "Freeway Jam".

In the 1960s, there was a seminal British band called The Yardbirds which produced three of the most seminal guitar players in rock history. Those players were Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Beck and Page played in The Yardbirds for a while at the same time. Jeff Beck left the band, leaving Jimmy Page as the sole guitar player. The Yardbirds then became The New Yardbirds, which then became the mega band Led Zeppelin. Clapton, Beck and Page all came from the same part of London, and knew each other since being very young. These are the three guitarists who changed rock forever. Love your reactions ladies. Thank you.

That whole concert is amazing! Jeff's best band ever... That's Tal Wilkenfeld, at 19. She's an Aussie who started playing bass at 16, after playing guitar for two years. Dig into her story and you will be ASTOUNDED. She has played with many of the top names in rock and jazz, including The Allman Brothers, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jackson Browne, Herbie Hancock, and too many others to mention here. She has a couple of albums of her own, and her band opened for The Who back in 2019. Look her up on UA-cam. The rest of this concert is incredible - Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scotts. There is an HD video version of it here somewhere. It's quite long and varied. The lamps are on the table because this is a bar. Only the stage is well lit. Members of Led Zeppelin were in the house that night, and Jeff brought Eric Clapton and two ladies up that night for vocal solos. Jeff won a Grammy for the instrumental performance they did of The Beatles' *A Day in the Life* at this concert. He died in January of 2023. Tal got on her phone in an ice storm in downtown Austin, Texas, to do a tribute to him. It was touching. She's an amazing person. Jeff was, too.

3 great guitar players came from the Yardbirds. Eric Clapton Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin in that order. Jeff never really hooked up with a singer and went in a little different direction. He was One of my all time favorites and I immediately recognized him when he showed up as the house band in the movie Twins. I really love the interactions between Jeff and Tal. Everybody thought she was his daughter. They 1st met when she showed up at his door to audition for the 2007 tour. Jeff thought it was joke. He quickly realized her talent and became her mentor. You can often see her watching Jeff play because he is always changing it up. One singer he has done songs with is Joss Stone. You can see them at Wembley stadium 2014 with the best versions of 2 great songs Super Duper Love and No Mans Land,. Acoustics are way better and they had a choir back up to honor the great fallen on 100th anniversary of the start of WW1. .

The 1960s group "The Yardbirds" contained, at various stages, three of the worlds greatest guitarists, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. Jeff and Johnny Depp were great friends, and after THAT trial, Johnny flew straight to London to appear on stage with Jeff, they were trying to put a tour together when Jeff was taken ill, and Johnny was at his bedside at the end.

I Was practically counting how long it would take for Lulu to mention Tal Wilkenfel's Hair 🙂 . Jeff is the Guitar Player Other Great Guitar Players look up to . Jeff seems so Effortless in his Amazing Ability . His Total Control over the instrument is a sight to behold . You should take the time to watch the entirety of Jeff's "Live at Ronnie Scott's" concert which this video is from . This is in a small club that seats only a few hundred people . Clapton sits in for a song , I recall Robert Plant being shown as one of the celebrities in the audience .

So when the late Jeff Beck (he passed something a little over a year ago) first met Tal (the bass player) she had come over from Australia to the UK as an unknown, young prodigy and it had been suggested that the two of them should get together, see what the chemistry was like. She turned up at his house on the appointed day and Jeff, who was a fairly tall guy and very, very into his hot rods cars, opens the door and there was this biddy littler girl a third his age with a bass guitar case, so he just smiled and said OK, comer in, let's just start playing. Two hour later he knew what he was in the presence of. Greatness. And he would have known because pretty much everyone in the guitar world would agree he was probably the best of them all, certainly as far as the UK had to offer. This particular performance is especially wonderful.
Jeff Beck is lauded as a guitarist but often criticized for not being able to write songs. I disagree. Listen to the 'song' in this performance. It isn't sung in words as such and its maybe a little ambiguous for that. But we all know what its about and it always hits home.

Jeff Beck started in the Band "The Yard Birds" in 1968. Along with Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and Eric Clapton. Eric is actually invited on stage at this performance to play a couple of Blues Song.
As Jeff put it 'I'd like to introduce someone that knows his way around a "Stratacaster Guitar"
Live at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Lounge.
The audience includes Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Steve Perry, and a who's who list of the Music Industry. They are all Blown Away. LOL

Spent the night in a hospital before going on the 50 mile trip into the country to Jeff's place. . Of course Jeff had a big place and people stayed with him and his wife. It really hurt Tal when Jeff died. She was off of whatever social media she is on for a while. Anything from Crossroads 2007 or Ronnie Scott's 2009 I am wondering why my notifications haven't been working because I have been watching for you to do Jeff Beck. This is 4 days later. I sent you something with other suggestions. Stratus at Scott's Big Block at crossroads Brush with Blues at Crossroads. This one always makes me cry and I'm a grown man. He brings so much emotion out of his guitar. Tal, on bass, was reccomended by the drummer Vinnie Colaiuta. Jeff thought maybe she was just a "girlfriend", but when he auditioned her, found out she's got"some chops" Jeff Beck is considered a guitarist's guitarist and other known guitarists and artists put him on the top or their list or least in their top 5. The club they were at was Ronnies Scott's in England. Another number done there that brings out the same emotions(I'd reccomend) is a short piece called, Where are You? (which is one of guitarist , Brian May of Queen favorite numbers.)
