At multi-day outdoor festivals like this, the ground is a grassy field in the beginning; but after the first day, and sometimes after only a few hours, the grass is trampled by the crowd, and only dirt remains.
This is specifically the issue in mosh pit areas, where the activity is highest.
It's called a "pit" because the people stomp and run in the same area so much, that a depression in the ground appears. All the earth that is missing from the hole was turned to dust and carried away by the wind.

I’ll never understand how Austin (the drummer) does that for so long it’s brilliant! If you ever fancy it you should have a look at hail the apocalypse live at wacken 2015 by Avatar it was the first song on their set and it was incredible :)

The wild thing is the tour right before the release of Pain Remains, Austin was playing with a broken back, let that soak in.

Will Ramos is so good live I seen Lorna Shore with WhiteChapel and Kublai Khan in October thats show was one of the best I have ever been too

My wife and I took the kids to see them last month, the last show I went to that was that unhinged was OG Pantera in 2001. The gatekeepers and contrarians can fuck right off, there's a reason every show is selling out, keep up the reactions!
