Just a explanation on thise divots. They were made for your fingers to grab ahold of when holding the knife in a normal position. One on each side for both right and left handed carry. Very ergonomic. Super comfortable and excellent grip. Very easy to sharpen with a simple strip and ceramic rod.
Nice review...much appreciated, mate. Mine has now been ordered; I should have it by Tuesday. I have the finn hawk folder, and I'm really impressed with Cold Steel's take on scandi grind "puukko" style knives.
Not a bad looking knife, I picked up a Mora companion HD carbon for $10 w/ free shipping on Amazon around Christmas last year so this year. That style of knife is my go to for day hikes hell I forget it's on my belt until I need it. Can't go wrong with type of knife
The handle just gets better and better. I thought it was weird but after some good use it actually gets very comfortable, the knife is an excellent necker.
Its a true carving knife .....with more use and lots of whittling you will start seeing the reasons for the handle design. I believe it actually out performs the Companion in long term use.
This CS blade is a decent blade / not a great one . A good blade for the money , but 4116 Krupp steel doesn't have the edge retention of any Mora in my collection . The grip and ergonomics is fine in my opinion . Had CS used AUS 8A steel as they use in other knives , the Finn Hawk would be a far better blade . Good and fair review OTB .
For me the alternative for a Mora came in 2011 when I discovered Hultafors. But I'm in Europe. Cold steel are expensive here because of the taxes and Hultafors are probably hard to get over there? Anyway. I liked the review.
For me the alternative for a Mora are the Marttiina knives like the: Marttiini Condor Timberjack - $19.00 USD Marttiini Little Classic Knife, 7 3/8in. - $19.00 USD Marttiini MN121010 Lynx 121 - $35.00 USD Hultafors are a lot easier to get today. At Amazon the are: Hultafors All Purpose Knife - $14.00 USD Hultafors Mountain Knife - $27.00 USD Hultafors Knives Expedition Knife - $33.00 USD The CS Finn Hawk is OK but the extensive variety of different Mora knives easily overtake Cold Steel 's effort to get a piece of Moras pie. BTW: Who is not a fan of More??
@@sylvana393 I have one Hultafors, the Mountain Knife ($27.00 USD). I kept it because I love the bigger handle that fits my XXL hands. But truth be told my favorite knife of all time is a Helle Temagami Knife (Laminated stainless blade). The steel is unbelievably good and the handle is comfortable to use all day. BUT For the woods, like when I lived in Alaska, I would buy only inexpensive Moras like the Robust or Kansbol. In the woods or extreme outdoor conditions you really want good sharp, medium quality, and an expendable tool. If you have to use the blade very hard, loan your knife out (it will come back broken), or drop it in the lake, etc. you do not want a $200 USD loss. Hultafor's knives would work here too.
I bought the CS Finn Hawk fixed blade and it is a good clone of the Mora (lets be honest). It is like a "Robust" Companion. If you get a good deal on it or just like it BUY IT. - it is inexpensive/expendable in the woods - it has good heat treating - it has a good bushcrafting edge - the handle is very nice & has a good hard rubber grip - etc. Unlike some of Cold Steels other bad bushcraft knife this one works & works well. To: Cold Steel, Inc., *_Say thank you Mora_* for your idea.

I would rather have a Hultafor OK4 over it and a Mora but still a great budget blade.

u can always wrap some tape to thicken the handle
i have several cold steel products they make good quality stuff even there cheaper stuff is top notch compared to a lot of other cheap junk out there
lol a lot of those scandi grind bushcraft knives have a great tactical tip even if unintentionally
Great video thank you

Bonjour So which one is the best ? Mora or cold steel ?
I’m still a mora fan!
Ok Merci 🤗👍
Both your mora's look new. Mine have been used and look fuck all like yours. UA-cam warriors!
