- The Cold Steel Finn Hawk is a Puukko style knife with connective tissue to the Marttiini line of knives. A solid performer at a great price. Another in the Inflation Buster series!

These knives sure do feel good in the hand, cold steel does a great job on the heat treatment of all their steels,a great knife to have in your truck and side by side glove compartment
Thanks for a very good informative video. The handle shape is very practical. Siberians commonly for decades have flat sided their knives and axes to make the grip easier in the freezing cold or if your hands are wet or bloody from the hunt. Round handles slip in the wet.
Thanks for watching! That makes sense! A round handle would be harder to control!
Some important additional information that would have been useful would be 1) Tank design and length. 2) Is the sine 90 degree for use with a Ferro Rod, & 3) Is there a water drain hole in the tip of the sheath for a start... Not bad otherwise...
(Point 2 and 3 :
100 bux and I ccustomise it for you ;-)
Re: 'No thumb ramp'. Have a kydex sheath for another knife, had the same issue. Get some 3M stair tread tape, comes in 1/2" and 3/4" widths, most Ace Hardware stores carry it and will cut to length you need. You might be able to find it on line but might have to buy a whole roll of it, haven't checked. It has a texture like very coarse sandpaper and a super-sticky adhesive. You may have to replace it once in a while but it does last a looong time. Very cheap, very easy, very fast and highly effective fix for that.
Thanks for the tip! I actually have some of that tape. Used it in the past to add texture to the front strap on some pistols for competition. Poor man's checkering.
Great video and glad to see the comparison. I've owned my Hawk around 3 years now and it's a great grab and go knife.
Thanks for watching! The Finn Hawk is growing on me too!
Great vid, thanks. I like the Finn Wolf Folder by Cold Steel. I have not made the decision on whether I will get one yet though. Thanks again
Thank you for watching. The Finn Wolf is unique knife. I like it a lot.
I have both knives and the lock up on the Wolf is rock solid, a great knife for the price.
@@kenrankin5814 Thanks for the helpful info guys. Dave
thanks for showing this fine looking knife......
I picked up a second one.no 90deg spine.thas ok still a good buy.
@davidtate166 always good to have more than one!
Late comment but, the sheath has an easy fix. The finger gard needs to be slightly cut/trimmed. Start slow on trimming the finger guard. Don't cut too much off. Hope this helps. It worked great for me. My Finn Hawk now has a perfect sheath.
I'll give it a try! Thank you!
Want one
It's worth it .
I've had two Finn Hawks. Both blades experienced micro chipping along their edges. Very disappointing, as I actually like these knives.Other users have reported simular issues. Keep using yours daily, you'll likely experience micro chipping as well.
I'd like to see CS use SK5 as an alternative.
BTW to assist in easy removal of the knife you can put your thumb on the edge-side of the sheath, and push off from there. The sheath will act as a thumb ramp.
The finger guard will stop your thumb from touching the edge, you will not cut your thumb. Besides, the knife pops out long before the blade edge comes out.
Thanks for watching. I have been using my Finn Hawk for a while now without issue. I will keep an eye on it. Did you return yours to Cold Steel? Sounds like they may have had some sort of heat treat issue.
I will try your tip on the sheath. I like the sheath in general but, man, it is quite a tug to get the knife out!

I kept them both. I put a micro bevel on them to eliminate the micro chipping problem. My wife uses one to butcher meat and fish sometimes. They are nice knives.
Nice Video...What do You do for a living? strangling bulls or hammering wood into form with your bare hands, handmodell for the Hulk? You never need tongs I assume. I am impressed.
Looks nice, but I’m still a Morakniv kind of guy. I’m half Norwegian and have several Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish knives.
Thank you for watching! I get it. I love my Mora knives and have way more than I probably should. I am looking more at the Marttiini knives too!
The handle looks more like a Mora basic
Mora Companion Carbon MG is my most used knife, I have FinHawk and FinBear but Mora wins...
Thanks for watching! The Moras are great knives!

Sorry about that. Don't know how I missed that. Link has been added or you can use this one: amzn.to/3PbLkMz
full tang?
About 2/3 tang
This is nothing but a copy of the very popular Mora Knife!!!
Thanks for watching! I believe it has a lot more resemblance to a Marttiini than a Mora.
Actually between my Moras and the Hawk, I prefer the handle on the Hawk and grab it more often than not when I am out outing. :)
Wrong! Similar but definitely different! Sam Adler
