I bought a FALLKNIVEN F1 because there’s a degree of confidence that goes with carrying the knife that the country of Sweden chose as the survival knife for their military pilots.

The F1 is geat. I love carving with it. It fity my hands great. For me it is one of the best knives for me. I still have my old VG10 one.

I’m fond of both of these knives but the F1 lanyard hole comment is spot on. Since I don’t like lanyards it doesn’t cause a problem.

I have F1 in 3G steel , and also A1 in vg10, hmm 3G is 61 HRC and when I use it often damage the edge, but on A1 VG10 doesn’t seem to have issue

I own both knives and definitely prefer the F1. The Garberg is too heavy, to me it just doesn't feel well balanced.

Great review, I prefer the F1, but I can see the sense in choosing the Mora. Mora is a great knife for the money, they don’t let you down. But that more expensive feel the Fallkniven give you, you can feel the difference, and it is great in hand.

    • @somefuckstolemynick

Couldn't agree more, the Mora makes a lot more sense for 99.9% of cases and people. So much more reasonbly priced.
That said, I have both and I just love the feel of the Fällkniven F1 in my hand. It's the one I use.

Great review!. Personally, I think I'd go with the Garberg. 14C28N is a helluva' tough "stainless" steel. I bought a Fallkniven A1x (*Lam CoS) to compare to my 1095 TOPS 107E...and was severely disappointed. For me, the TOPS outperformed the Fallkniven at every turn. Obviously, everyone is different and your mileage may vary.

The Cold Steel one was very durable as a folding pocket knife and I had no complaints about it. I just couldn't resist getting the back flipper model from Tops

I have the Mora Garberg and love it. As far as the F1..... to expensive for me... I’d rather pay closer to $100 and have several different knives that I’m not scared of losing. I have Buck’s, Gerber, Mora’s and others that I’ve used over the years and have really never seen the need for expensive knives that have exotic steel’s....

Hi M, nice to hear your thoughts between the Garberg and the F1. I like both knives but tend to gravitate towards the F1. I don’t know why, but having said this I am of the opinion you can’t go wrong with either one of them. I haven’t been active in IG so it is kind of refreshing to see your videos here. Hope you are doing great!

hey Andy!!! long time no see!! It's been. forever!!! I've missed seeing you on Instagram! Thanks so much for dropping a line. I actually do gravitate more and more to the F1. I filmed this a couple of years ago and I guess over time the weight difference and the nimbleness of a smaller blade like the F1 has really grown on me. Just can't beat the price of a Mora I guess! Hope you're well!!

I haven’t tried the F1 but generally speaking I prefer it’s blade shape. I also prefer a larger and more rounded grip for my large hands tho, and my Garberg is really comfortable to use.
I’ve also lost or damaged a lot of knives over the years and have found that I don’t want to pay more than necessary for a durable product. Anything more is money down the drain for me.
I very much appreciate that some knives cost more because of an aesthetic or other intangible quality. That said, neither of these knives are pretty. They’re both utilitarian and designed to be used as tools.
All that to say, between these two, I’ll confidently stick with my Mora Garberg.

The Garberg has a multi-mount version where it has an extra secure belt which is more secure than the F1.

  • @stevanoutdoor
    @stevanoutdoor 11 місяців тому +2

The intentions behind the two knives are different. The F1 being a 'just in case knife' and the Garberg more being a designated knife when you don't mind the weight. My personal preference is the F1 that I actually throw in my backpack or duffel bag as that 'just in case you need a knife' knife. I have the Garberg but it's in the box because the weight turned me off. For that weight there are better options.

Mora is the best buy in knives. I have 5 Mora's. 2 old style 511s and 3 basic wood carver's with the 510 handle. They were carbon steel back then. I have knives with supposedly superior steel but I've never been one to be a steel snob. If it works it works.

The F1 I had the grind was all over the place making sharpening a challenge to say the least. One side was noticeably shallower than the other which took a lot of time to correct and needed a lot of stock removal, obviously weakening the blade. Looking back I wish I'd just sent it back. Plus that lanyard hole is less than useless. I found the F1 was the most overrated knife I've ever had and I prefer the garberg in every way.

The F1 is a way better knife than the Mora Garberg, it even unfare to the Mora to compare them. Sure the Mora is a deascent knife that will do a lot. But the quality in materials an and work manship is way better in Fällkniven. Is it better for everyone, no. I use my F1s every day have done for close to 3 decades now, during my service. As a hunting and fishing knife. As a utility knife, camp knife and you name it. The Mora isnt bad doesent come close. Holds an edge a lott better. Thats my opinion.
