    With Alan wake 2 receiving best narrative and art direction awards at the game awards there's no better time to catch up if you haven't played Alan Wake 2.
    This video took me way to long to complete due to a pretty severe chest infection, so please like, subscribe and comment

    Alan’s typrewriter is not an object of power. It’s Cauldron Lake that turns fiction into reality, not the typewriter.

    • @dadquest1982
      @dadquest1982  7 місяців тому +16

      I agree that it is the lake that gives the power, but the typewriter is a conduit for that power. I'm fairly certain that the FBC refer to the typewriter as an object of power also.
      either way thanks for commenting, I really do enjoy reading and replying to them. have a good Christmas.

      The typewriter, if anything is an altered item, its definitely not an oop

      @@connorm997 you could very well be right, I'm far from being the arbiter of remedy knowledge. I was thinking that it was more like the service weapon in control, taking different forms for different people. like if Tor and Odin went into the lake it wouldn't be a typewriter but might be a guitar or microphone.

      the clicker is theorized by FBC to be a OoP

    When I first started playing Control, I didn't even realise Alan Wake was part of the story. I had played Alan Wake back in 2015, I think. While in Control, I stumbled upon a few redacted documents mentioning Alan. I thought, Oh, that's a nice easter egg. I found some more along the way and started thinking maybe there was more to it than just an easter egg. Funny enough, I played the Foundation DLC first. I had no idea which one should be first; I didn't even realise it was DLC, to be honest :D. After finishing with that, I started AWE and instantly seeing Alan, I was like, holy biscuits, he is actually in the game intergrated so well. I guess this was to connect both games and promote Alan Wake 2 like a prologue. Now I fell into the rabbit hole of story bits, secrects, etc.
    Great video by the way, I can see a lot of work went into it enjoyed my time.

      I completeted Quantum break 4 times , wonder if at some point is it going to get mentioned in some of their new games. It had a lot of real life scenes like a movie, was awesome seeing Courtney Hope, take the lead in control she had a great role in Quantum break. Not sure about Max Payne how would it fall in this Universe .@@dadquest1982

    Altered World Event... Alan Wake Experience...

  • @dragondelsur5156
    @dragondelsur5156 7 місяців тому +4

    Here's something that you missed though: Alan Wake can't create anything out of nothing, not without the clicker. Alan said that he got his ideas from his dreams, thanks to the second game we now know he can see visions of the future, which is how he got to create the Alex Casey series of books. Anything that happened in Control would've happened either way with or without Alan writing the events, because the characters he creates are actually real people (like Alex Casey), for example, there are pages about a rejected script for Night Springs that detail the events of the main game leading to the Hiss infecting the entire Bureau, which maybe got from a vision. Alan wouldn't be someone to create a new powerful entity unrelated to the Dark Presence to escape, Jesse wouldn't be able to save him inside the Oldest House either.

    • @dadquest1982
      @dadquest1982  7 місяців тому +4

      I agree that he didn't create the hiss and is unable to create anything without the clicker. I do however believe that he shaped the events of control and how the hiss act/speak, kind of like he's moving pieces on a chess board.

      @@dadquest1982 I would like to praise your way of presenting the video. I wish you and your channel the best deeply. From now on, I am a regular subscriber to your channel.
      I have loved Remedy games since Max Payne 1 came out, but my problem with them is their exaggerated depth and the creation of a highly complex, intertwined world based primarily on unproven ideas and theories, and thus conflicts and weaknesses gradually begin to appear in the plot that may lead to the idea of the game being illogical and hard to swallow.
      I mention... For example, there are so many inconsistencies in the story of Quantum Break that the idea behind the game has become incomprehensible, and this applies to all of their games. For example in Control, as we know, Trench had been planning for years to bring the Hiss to our world because he became infected, so it is incomprehensible why he or his conscious was helping Jesse at the beginning of the game via the Hotline, and why he taught her how to purge the control points of the Hiss, in a contrary to his main goal.
      Not to be biased, I enjoy Remedy games without exaggerating in the fault-hunting, so I am eager to play Alan Wake 2 and therefore it was necessary to replay the AW1 in addition to Control and its expansions.

      I can't disagree with the convoluted nature of some of the story telling from remedy, but for me that's part of what makes them what they are. I can't speak on quantum break because I never got more than about an hour into it, but I do know that they weren't in full creative control with that because of being owned at Microsoft at the time and that being paired with an external company to make the TV sections probably made it difficult to be cohesive.

      I cannot agree with you more, we do like Remedy as it is.
      About Quantum Break, I strongly recommend you to play it, I will give you the same tip you gave me, to play it twice. I agree there were many factors made it not the best selling game, but lack of creativity is not one of them, this game has its own quality and atmosphere, and despite the TV sections lack the spirit of the game, but the end product is not bad, it is easy to be involved with the characters and be thrilled with each new event.
      You certainly know that the actress who played Jesse in Control played the role of Beth in Quantum Break. Perhaps this is just my opinion, but the character of Beth was a positive, active and likable character for me and it made me want a second part of the game to find out what happened to her, while she was... Jesse's character is devoid of anything that distinguishes her or anything that makes me relate to her as a heroine with good motives. which makes me ask myself: Do I really want to see Jesse in a second game?
      I think that Remedy wanted to focus more on presenting a strong female character in Control, regardless of whether she was an influential character or not, and the result was in my opinion, a cold provocative, and devoid of feelings character. Unfortunately not everyone can successfully create a combination similar to Lara Croft.
      Sorry for the long debate, let us both chill and listen to Dynamite covered by Dr. Darling (Dont hate me but I believe he is the best character in Control by all means :)
