Hey Antonio. As a guy who is 5'6", I've definitely got some style principles I swear by. Pants always have no break and are a slimmer fit, and shirts whether it's T-shirts, polo's, or dress shirts, always fit perfectly on my athletic frame. Jean jackets and biker styled leather jackets complement most outfits. To top it off, a solid pair of casual or dress boots put the finishing touches on an outfit that leaves me feeling great.
I am 5ft 6inch and as you said if a clothing dosen't fit you at your shoulders then definitely avoid it. This is very true I have been doing this every time I buy any top wear, and it's really difficult to get things of the rack that ll fit you. Thanks Antonio for this great video it was a much needed one and the jacket tip was very helpful..
Antonio I am 5 foot 5, and with this what you said and explained, it really helps out a lot now I'm going to take my style even more further. thank you. you're the best
Tell me about it. Same height, but also wide-shouldered and a tad muscular - if a shirt fits my shoulders/chest it's too long, if it's the right length it's too small. Pants never fit both the top of my leg and the bottom properly (the best jeans I've got look like skinny fit over my thighs and regular over my calves). I'm thinking that we really just need stuff completely bespoke, but that is expensive and time-consuming and I haven't made the plunge, yet. Got some good jeans in Melbourne at a place that tailors them to your body as soon as you walk out of the change room, just wish I bought more colours while I was there.
At Five-freaking-Two, I know what you both mean; but at my height, and being fairly slim (115lbs, soaking wet), getting clothes is an utter nightmare ... I have to get everything altered to fit, because even clothes for a man who is 5'4", that is still too big for me ...
nigelft in the same boat as you both. I'm also very slim and wideish at the top. So even the smallest of shirts would fit snuggly around shoulders and lats but the excess fabric around the stomach/waist is a real problem. Don't even get me started on finding trousers that fit. Even a 28 is kinda big. WTF😐
ricky dedos I know exactly what you mean ... luckily my inside seam is 29", but even then, to fit into most trousers, if not all, I have to get them altered. As for dress shirts, like you, it is a right pain; 15 1/2" neck, but my arms are long in proprtion to my torso, so the only way round is measure both arms (which are slightly different lengths), and order accordingly. It is a reason why I don't buy shirts, or any clothes for that matter, that often ... as for the excess material, yes I have to tuck everything in quite tightly, but wearing a waistcoat/vest helps with that: still keeps the smart look, without overheating by constantly wearing a jacket; and also hides most of the wrinkles/creases. As for shoes, I am a UK size 5, which places me at the high end of childrens shoes. Sadly, most mens dress shoes, or any shoe for that matter, rarely go that low ... so it is either buy unisex, or a UK size 6, if available ...
Great video! I’m a tall guy at 6’1”. Not all men share the same proportions. I have a long torso with short legs, the rest: broad shoulders, regular waist and strong calves. I find it difficult to find the right fit, when it comes to clothes that don’t highlight the disproportion(s). I try to layer and stay in the same colour range with tops and bottoms. One of the biggest difficulties is finding a sweater that is long enough and still fits through the shoulders. It would be great, if you could address the issues of proportions and highlighting or camouflaging in choosing a wardrobe. Thanks Antonio!
I'm 5'1" my height has been a big issue for me when it comes to finding clothes. All thru high school i had to shop in the kids department... it messed with my self esteem and still to this day it still messes with me. I'm 26 now and i'm not confident because of my height. Its embarrassing when you have 15 year olds looking older than i am. I look very young, i haven't aged at all i still look like i'm around 17-19. I tried looking older by letting my facial hair grow out and playing around with a beard but that didn't work out. Oh and i'm single.. no girl wants to date a 5 foot tall guy that still looks like a child. Its embarrassing and it affects me every single day of my life.
I am 5.2-5.3’. I am accepted and confident bro! I graduated with a degree in science and make a decent income while helping people. I focus on health, career and helpfulness towards people. You are great if you are kind, humble and knowledgeable! Women hate bad hygiene let alone fashion. I take good care of that then start to build a wardrobe. Most of my clothes are from Express, Uniqlo, A&E & CK (buy CK sweater and shirts through Macy’s). I have recently used StitchFix and their stylist helps me with outfits. I got some nice sweaters and dress shirts from them. I paid a tailor to make suits. My shoes from Express, Nike & Adidas! And remember there are women who likes short men. You should be confident so that you can take care of your lady.
I'm 5'6". I learned to sew my sophomore year in high school in a NY Fabrics store class. I still use my sewing machine to hem my pants. Helps a lot when the pants are only available in a length that's too long. Doesn't hold me back, I just hem them myself.
Thank you Antonio for giving the name for the difference between chest and natural waist: drop. Now can say drop makes it difficult to find off the rack clothing that is a good fit. So I tailored my own suit, pants first and just finished the jacket, can't wait until lining tacked back and can wear the whole suit, know will feel amazing.
I think as far as pants and shorts go, the length of your legs and/or inseam is a bigger factor. I'm 5'8" but my legs are much shorter than my torso. I have the back of a 5'10" man and the legs of a 5'6" man, so going by full height doesn't usually help.
Best Brands for Short/Petite/Slim/Small Frame Men: Zara, Abercrombie, Fred Perry and Uniqlo You will never go wrong with these brands. They have S, XS and sometimes XXS sizes. And even if you are short with a bulky/stocky build, the Medium sizes are still not that long. Plus the quality of these brands are really good. A bit expensive, but you’re gonna use them for a long time.. Take it from me, as a 5’4 man. 👍
I've learned to find specific brands of clothing cater to my body type better than others. Finding t shirts that look decent worn on their own are difficult, but usually the more $ the shirt, the better it looks. Gildan t shirts are o.k. but spending a bit more really makes a difference for me. Pants are a hard find since i wear a 29 to 30 inch waste but 30 inches long... most are 32 inches long. Longer pants always make someone look shorter I feel.
How do you find suit coats or sport coats when you’re short, slight of build, and carry your weight in your belly? I’m currently built far too much like a gnome, and if a more structured jacket fits me in the shoulders, it won’t button across my stomach. What’s the solution for that? (Besides losing weight? I’m doing that too, but I have to dress the body I currently have in the meantime.)
$150 for a Polo. Please. Think these clowns have teamed up to pitch to the wrong crowd. We know a rip-off a mile away and this is one. Antonio, done yourself no favours here. Up and coming? Down and dying more like.
Hey Antonio, thanks for this video. As for the shorts section, I feel like some guys are 5'3" but have longer legs and a short torso and vise versa. You suggested lengths for shorts according to total height. It may have been better for you to discuss how far the shorts should go according to the knee. I am 5'7" and I like my shorts to go just above the knee. Am I wrong in thinking that different guys have different leg lengths and that would make it different for everyone?
I’m 5’3 and I have a very small frame, small shoulders and such. NOTHING fits off the rack. Sometimes I have to seriously buy XL clothes from the boys section because nothing from the men’s section. I always looks at Peter Manning’s brand but as a college student it’s quite expensive, and so is tailoring. Ouch.
I have a problem!!! I'm 5'6",buf my arms are long.I can't buy a men's short suit. The arms are too short for me and the inseam on the pants are too short as well. Frustrated!!!
Great video! How well does this apply to those of us who are still growing? We often have weird proportions, so how does that compare to full grown men who are just short?
Thanks for the awesome video Antonio. I'm 5'3 and I really appreciate this video. I wish more style youtubers would do style videos for the shorter man. Antonio I am 52 years old and wear shoe size 5.5 in boys. I find it very hard if not impossible to find stylish shoes size 5.5. Most of the shoes I find in size 5.5 make me look childish. Antonio will you please make a video for men who wear a shoe size 6.0 or smaller explaining what types of shoes are available for men in size 6.0 or smaller and where to buy them?
Personally, I like wearing low contrast colors that will break my body lines. It makes me look a little taller because it doesn't draw attention to my shorter height. The reason I suggest low contrast colors is because higher contrast (black and white) will cut your body in half and draw more attention to your height.
Thank you. I'm 5'6 1/2. Sixteen years old and hopefully I'll grow. My legs are my biggest problem area, torso is long and wide and I can look amazing in almost any small shirt but my legs are so short and is so hard to find good pants.
Great video Antonio. What is your take on cargo shorts on this particular use case? Maybe if you are going to the beach or tropical country, what type of footwear you consider in style to wear with shorts?
Great video but those polos look crap. Polos should be a solid colour without those douchbag colored collars. And the colours should be more softer. You can see that they have no idea of style just bf the fact that one of the dudes on their website has his collar up. Anyway great video man!
Here are some other tips Wear darker shoes and trousers, people's eyes will be drawn up Wear shirts that are slightly lighter/brighter than your trousers but avoid too much contrast Wear collared shirts, wear polos with contrast collors if you can Above all be be confident
Well, one thing as someone who’s 5’8”, I have a very thick chest (47”) with a small waist (32”) and I have a short torso. So, I wearing small shirts is too tight in the shoulders, but hits my hips just right. Sigh.
Hello, nice video ! This is a large topic and the video is already 11 minutes long This video focuses on fit, you did not talk about colours, contrast, right choice of clothes but you did on previous videos I think you should make a playlist grouping all your videos about short man style to have a complete guide And maybe do the same for bigger than average men, older men, younger men,...
so what if a guy like myself with really quite muscular legs about 36 wide with hips around 34 whats the best action for shorts and trousers, 5'9'' thanks
In many parts of Europe even 5'11 (180 cm) is considered short or at least below average for an adult man these days e.g. the Balkans, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and parts of Germany plus some other places...I see often 12-13 year old kids around 5'11 these days but it's also a socio-economic issue because in poor areas people are usually a lot shorter. Just stick to darker colors and nail the fit and it will be fine.
Adnan Bosnjak its genetics bro, stop hating on the shorter dudes, they have money just not height. Not the end of the world is it? Plus don't let your height give you a false sense of security, I've seen many short dudes take out giants who thought their height would protect them.
What about someone like me I'm 6-2+, with long arms and decent size chest, but sometimes finding good fit in my waist and length in my pants as well as shirts that fits right in my arms, chest and torso has been a pain any suggestions Anthony?
At 5'9, I can't figure out if I'm at the upper end of short or the lower end of average... But, I suppose it is easier for me to find clothes that fit than a man who is 5'2 or 5'3 or 5'4.
For the last several years, I have online ordered most of my office and casual clothing from LL Bean and Eddie Bauer and purchased a few things locally in stores like Nordstrom and Orvis and Brooks Brothers. My challenges in purchasing clothing are not finding a neck size, sleeve length, waist or inseam, they are (1) most department store buyers of menswear do not share my fairly conservative/traditional taste in clothing and (2) the selection of clothing colors that go well with my skin and hair colors.
I'm about 5'9 1/2 and the struggle is REAL finding clothes that fit and still look good given the obvious "vertical challenge". Thanks, as always, for the insight and advice.
Best advice is buy yourselves 2nd hand sewing machine, and learn to do basic sewing . Plenty of youtube vidoes to help you learn how to shorten your clothes. Lots of men are now machine sewing, and you will look so much better, it only takes about half an hour or so to shorten jeans for instance. I've just shortened all my partner's shirts and jeans/trousers, and he looks so much better than when his (very nice/good quality) clothes didn't fit him properly.
Love your videos, Antonio. Just a recommendation, it would nice for more visual confirmations on your presentations. ie the sports jacket length to curvature of buttocks. That is very subjective and would be nice to visually see your recommendation on exactly where that would be.

All in the eye of the beholder.

I'm also 5'2"
I'm 165cm (about 5"4) and I like doing few things:
1. dark clothing
2. low contrasts

I'm 16, but I didn't make a big progress through this year. Anyway I'm not exactly sure about it :)

5'6" here too, and I agree 100%. Pants have to be hemmed properly, shirts can't be too baggy
It's hard to think that 5-9 is short! Lol
I know right?
Me as 5'5 xD
@@RealMenRealStyle it’s literally the average American height

I mean I wouldn't recommend formal clothing off the rack for any body type/height. It's the damn arm hole width way too wide
150 bucks for a shirt...No thanks
Antonio I am 5 foot 5, and with this what you said and explained, it really helps out a lot now I'm going to take my style even more further. thank you. you're the best

Very Important Video. Thank You Antonio you are always helpful. Thanks for your great videos.
Greetings from Germany

Awesome video..
Im short and this is a great video... finally something for short guys! Do you have any brand suggestions for chinos dress shirts etc?
Great work mate, now I know why my favourite outfit is my favourite outfit ;)
Hey Antonio, thanks for this video. As for the shorts section, I feel like some guys are 5'3" but have longer legs and a short torso and vise versa. You suggested lengths for shorts according to total height. It may have been better for you to discuss how far the shorts should go according to the knee. I am 5'7" and I like my shorts to go just above the knee. Am I wrong in thinking that different guys have different leg lengths and that would make it different for everyone?
Hey fellas where do y'all get ur Jean's from? Cause I'm 5'4 and no Jean's fit
Antonio you look cool in polo
Do one for tall and skinny guys but summer edition it would be greatly appreciated. Like if you want that video :) .
Ouch.
Hey plumprince - You can check out the Modest Man for brands that'll work for your body type: www.themodestman.com/
I have a problem!!! I'm 5'6",buf my arms are long.I can't buy a men's short suit. The arms are too short for me and the inseam on the pants are too short as well. Frustrated!!!
😮 5"9 is short . I must be hellllla short then 😬
Great video! How well does this apply to those of us who are still growing? We often have weird proportions, so how does that compare to full grown men who are just short?
Recommendations for narrow shoulders? Any shirt that buttons is massively long for my shoulders.
Thanks for the awesome video Antonio. I'm 5'3 and I really appreciate this video. I wish more style youtubers would do style videos for the shorter man. Noted. I'll add it to my list.
Thank you Antonio. I'm sure there are other men who wear shoe size 5.5 and would appreciate a video on mens shoe size 6.0 or smaller
One tip (sizing up) is to add a comfort insole for a better fit and feel.
Personally, I like wearing low contrast colors that will break my body lines. It makes me look a little taller because it doesn't draw attention to my shorter height. The reason I suggest low contrast colors is because higher contrast (black and white) will cut your body in half and draw more attention to your height.
I once bought above the knee shorts at Walmart and it was about mid knee. Perfect fit but made me feel shorter than usual.
I’m 5 foot and 120 pounds I don’t know what clothes to go for any suggestions?????
Thank you. I'm 5'6 1/2. Sixteen years old and hopefully I'll grow.
My legs are my biggest problem area, torso is long and wide and I can look amazing in almost any small shirt but my legs are so short and is so hard to find good pants.
Thomas did you grow any my friend who is a boy was 5’4’’ last year and is now 5’7’’ I hope you grew😎
Great video Antonio. What is your take on cargo shorts on this particular use case? Maybe if you are going to the beach or tropical country, what type of footwear you consider in style to wear with shorts?
Loafers or boat shoes.

How about style tips for the tall angular man?
That's for ANOTHER video :)
5'7 is a weird cutoff height. It's like the low end of average. Sometimes you can wear boots to make yourself 5'9.
What about someone like me I'm 6-2+, with long arms and decent size chest, but sometimes finding good fit in my waist and length in my pants as well as shirts that fits right in my arms, chest and torso has been a pain any suggestions Anthony?
Hi Bob - Have you visited your local tailor? Have your measurements taken and you can also have trousers made for you.
At 5'9, I can't figure out if I'm at the upper end of short or the lower end of average... But, I suppose it is easier for me to find clothes that fit than a man who is 5'2 or 5'3 or 5'4.
For sure. Where do you usually buy your clothes?
Polos?? Is this everyday wear??
scasey1960 casual yes.
I paused the vid to type this when he said 5'9" is short. I am not even going to watch it further.
I looked like Roger from the American Dad, short legged😐
I'm right on the edge of being classified short at 5'10 🤔

That design is cool.
I just got up saw your email and the video loved it.
Awesome!
It seems the color contrast is too high on this video.
Thanks for the honest feedback!
I get my clothes at the kids section 😂😂😂
Im 5:2 .I'm going to meet my girlfriend tomorrow . Im insecure .

Real Men Real Style THANK YOU ! 👍
What about 5-2
Love your videos, Antonio. Just a recommendation, it would nice for more visual confirmations on your presentations. ie the sports jacket length to curvature of buttocks. That is very subjective and would be nice to visually see your recommendation on exactly where that would be.
Noted. Thanks JR.
