Thank you for making this video, this video helped a lot especially since I'm a shorter man myself. Look for ward to more interesting videos in the future. Would love to see a video about pairing blue and grey
Thanks for your support, Ivan! You can find our article on pairing blue and grey at the link below; perhaps we'll turn it into a video in the future! www.gentlemansgazette.com/how-wear-blue-gray/? - Preston
I'm a short teen and the other day to school I wore a tweed sportsjacket with an olive green trousers, striped pink/white shirt, patterned red silk tie and a navy blue v-neck. Although the combination may not be the best (my wardrobe is small) I got lots of compliments that day! Dressing smart and clean gives me confidence and it is a shame that it is a dying thing.
I was 5' 7"; thanks to increasing age and a back injury, I've shrunk to 5' 6", which I take to be fairly short. So I wear high waisted trousers and braces;. and peaked lapels. the high waisted trousers help, because they ease pressure on my arthritic hips. Boots tend to increase my height though I do also wear bow ties now and then. And i wear striped shirts. But - I don't really mind being short - . I AM short - so don't go out of my way to conceal the fact. there are worse things than being short.....
Exactly and i never see short being a downside its just your build its also understandable to wanna appear a bit taller i feel things like high waisted trousers and tucking your shirt in are basic things that will help other than that i wouldnt recommended about every detail that would just look like ur not satisfied or even insecure about your self!

@@gentlemansgazette Thank you for putting a heart under my comment! I always desperately wait for your videos on Fridays and Mondays. (I am 13 and I am a big fan of your wonderfull channel).
Great tips. I did a couple of these already but will absolutely put the others to use. I never understood why something was off when dressing but the way you explained fabric thickness, not breaking up your silhouette with a belt, and how stripes pulls you eyes up makes so much sense. Thank you!
I’m a shorter guy (5’7” 145 lbs) and while I’ve never been self conscious about it it started to bother me lately as I’m around taller people now so this video is a great help!
A great video, Raphael! I'm 5'6", so I definitely found this useful! One tip I have, as a broke college student, is when I find a tie at a second-hand store that is too long, sometimes I'll tuck the back end of the necktie into my shirt just below the collar button!
I appreciate the effort he puts in the sophistication of the video. They're rather long and very plain but focus exactly what I'm looking for; RELEVANT INFORMATION. Cheers mate!
Tolle Videos!!! Bitte weiter so.
I appreciate how comprehensive this guide is! I knew some of these tips already, but many were completely new to me. I will definitely take this advice to heart.
I love most of the advice in this video. I wish it made clear how much of the focus on longer legs applies to thin short men with a naturally longer leg to torso ratio.
Great video. I'd have to say, everything said was of a great information to me. My whole life I would dress like everyone else. Just wearing what fit was how I went. I never learned how to put everything together. Thank you!
Something that I have to get, since there's a friend of Mine who asked Me to design His suit. He's a short man, and now I'm ready to draw. Thanks for the inspiration, Raphael!
13:00 what I used to do was tie the front of the tie to the ideal length and then I would tuck the back Into my shirt front. It worked and nobody noticed
Hi Sven, thanks for another great video! Is there a possibility for making a video focused on summer attire? Like day wear, pool/beach wear and evening wear? Thanks!
Lighter colors reflect light, and darker colors absorb it. Given that reflected light coming into our eyes is how we see things, lighter surfaces therefore look larger to us (as a type of optical illusion). This is why rooms with dark walls seem smaller and cozier, and those with light walls seem more open and spacious. As such, framing light colors within dark ones on your body will mean that your overall silhouette is slimmer, while your best features are accented. Thanks for your question! - Preston
Thank you for making your videos. From seeing these videos I’ve been inspired to lose weight and get healthy. Maybe I’ll get to see my daughter graduate college and get married so on and so forth.
I'm 165cm, and I do have an awkwardly long torso. Like I have to buy shirts that are two sizes bigger and then tailor them myself to slim them down. This means most of my tops fit me very well but at the cost of a lot of time.
Great vid Raphael & the braces have really caught my eye but are there any rules when buying braces? Do they complement your tie, socks, shirt or suit? I have a classic Versace Navy suit with 4 buttons & I think it's slim cut would look cool with braces & maybe even a black fitted trilby 🤘🏼😎
Braces are never supposed to be seen really so there are no rules on it, I would wear something to compliment the suit, for a navy suit I'd have navy braces with a stripe that compliments you.
Before watching this video: - darker colors - no cuffs in pant legs - no pleats in pants - single breasted jackets with narrow lapels - thinner ties - keep the outfit on the simpler side miss anything?
Hello Gentlemen's Gazette, great video as always. Could you do a video on how to deal with incivilities, passive aggressiveness and people who feel threatened by you. Thank you.
There is a brand called Bairefined. They have a height and size formula that gives the right length and size for any height. It is perfect for short guys like me.
I'm a bit on the short side, but I like bowties and pocket watches. Those are really the only things I "disagree" with you, the rest, we are on the same page🙂
Hello, I have asked this question before. Unfortunately, never got a response. I was told by my tailor that the back of my trousers should be one inch off the floor or one inch above the top of the heel of my shoe and then taper the front of the cuff?? I watch your videos and enjoy them very much, but am confused by your slack length? will you please clarify this? thank you
1/2 of an inch means 1.27 cm and 3/4 of an inch means about 2 cm. Maybe that 3/4 inch cuff is too long? Seriously, you sayd between 1 cm and 1.5 cm. 1 cm is closer to 3/8 of an inch. Proportions matter.
Thank you for making this video, this video helped a lot especially since I'm a shorter man myself. Look for ward to more interesting videos in the future. Would love to see a video about pairing blue and grey

Can we get a big & tall style tips video?
I appreciate how comprehensive this guide is! I knew some of these tips already, but many were completely new to me. I will definitely take this advice to heart.
Getting into the gym and wearing a pointy hat helps too.
I think wearing uncuffed pants / trousers with a tapered leg makes you look taller. Speaking as a 5ft 7 guy.
5:52 Well that got inappropriate...
He made a point though. That's what matters.
Loool

Still waiting for that hypebeast edition! 😂
LOVE the denim shirt with charcoal jacket at 0:51. But this is all great information.
That shirt omg 😮😮😮 beautiful
Hey Sven, as always, I enjoyed the content...very informative. Hey, you did not link info on the shirt. Is it custom, or retail?
Thanks

Avoid turn-ups (cuffs) on your trousers. They shorten the look of the leg.
I want to know more about the hat for a short guy!
I like how, since I started following this channel, I start following advice before a video is posted :D
You really have a thing for colour black, don’t you?

What's the reason for lighter outer and darker inner being bad for short guys?
Lighter colors reflect light, and darker colors absorb it. What colors look good with a charcoal shirt?
I'm six feet tall. Where I live I'm tallee than most people. Would dressing taller make me look ridiculous, or would it be desirable?
Your tie was longer at the back than the front....
Incidentally how do you define taller or shorter?
Thank you, very handsome!
4.9 guy here that video helps a lot still its somehow hard to find clothes for my size

I don't care to look taller. I'm the height I am and that's cool.

I'm short, i started looking taller once I lost some weight
Nope…an odd vest will push your silhouette extremely….and I am short. Also a belt can help which is thinner than a wide one.
You should make a video on receeding hairlines 🙄
As a younger guy currently battling with receding AND thinning hair, I certainly would appreciate that.
@@Ak49xjx Just make sure it is not unkempt, and shorter is often better. Don't try to hide it. And also stop worrying about it, women don't care.
