I used shakesphere's micro-series ultra lite 5' 6" for 95% of my fish on simple rivers and small lakes on 8lb mono. Works 99.9% of the time on most any size fish.

Just got an ultra light rod from a garage sale, was wondering what to toss on it. Never used them little gulp ones I'll give those a try. Tested it out with the smallest spinner I had and it was chucking it faaar. I'll have to do some more ultra light rod stuff when I got hit the trout creeks near here. Come down to parksville lake in Polk co sometime. 8-11” bluegill and redear are pretty dang common.

The gulp keeps producing for me man. Caught two more TARP bluegill on KY lake last week. One was 10 1/4" and weighed 1 pound 6 ounces!

When I use an ultra light combo (same rod as yours) and I get a bass, 7 out of 10 times they throw the hook when they jump.
I liked the video and subscribed just because a bluegill told me to do it.

I don’t do any prepping. Fish that will be used as cut bait go into my cooler with ice. Live bait goes in my bait bucket
You should come out with an ultra light rod called the hoss
you can put your finger under the line and you can feel the fish hit the line. i guess the cats become fish and now they are call catfish. SAVANNAH TN..

Want to have reel fun, combine the carp video with ultra light video- if you think they fight on regular tackle, you got to try it. I caught many carp on ultra light. Also used to catch carp on fly rod in the old canal

Go to Walmart and get a pack of the white 1/32 ounce road runner heads. Load em up with the 1" gulp, it's fun to catch panfish on the move sometimes, it's also an option when the breeze picks up and line watching isn't an option anymore. That extra flash just does something to the fish, in my experience

I caught about 13 fish from a boat dock yesterday using night crawlers. Then caught a catfish and some more bluegill in my nephews pond. All on my ultralight Daiwa shock rod and reel. It was such fun ! By the way, I used gulp minnows on the pond.

great video. have you tried a trout magnet bobber above the jig? they are slit to slide on and off, with out retying. stay safe.
I have some of the trout magnet floats but I don’t really find them necessary for this style of fishing
@@KayakCatfish yes, but it is fun watching the bobber disappear lol.
Take that one inch gulp minnow with a weighted bobber and hook the gold mineral on a jig head like you would alive and lightly jiggles the bobber and it makes that little gold men do go crazy and you will catch monster crappie I caught my PB at 3lbs 6 ounces this year on this setup
