    Very nice, Sayaka! A small soup is great when one has leftover rice, which happens often. The hot and sour variant is my choice, it can be varied in many ways. Arigato!

    The salmon rice soup sounds really interesting. I am so glad you have discovered cottage cheese. it is good with eggs and with potatoes. You can blend it with seasonings to make dips for chips and fries.

    I have a quick question: which Japanese seasonings can you leave out at room temperature? Like, soy sauce, mirin, sake, are all of these okay left out? I know some people do, and was curious about it. Love the videos as always! ❤

      Thank you so much for always watching my video!
      Yes, Soy sauce, sake, mirin, vinegar, etc. can be stored at room temperature. I keep my oyster sauce refrigerated.
      Hope it helps you! Thank you again!

    Couple of questions if you could help. 1) What type of rice do you use in the soups? Sometimes this makes a difference. 2) does it matter if you use dashi instead of hondashi or the others? 3) if i have seaweed sheets for sushi, can i still use them as a substitute for normal seaweed in recipes or do i need around type of seaweed?

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel
      @JapaneseCookingChannel  3 місяці тому

      Thank you for your question!
      1) I use Japanese short grain rice. We love tsuyahime! 👉 amzn.to/3V6uwYR
      2) Yes, you can use dashi instead of hondashi.
      3) Which recipe are you using seaweed sheets? Please let me know, because I think I didn't use seaweed on this video...

      @@JapaneseCookingChannel Thank you for the answers that helps alot more, I am only new to trying japanese cooking and dont want to start having to get dashi, hondashi and all the other dashi's etc. Okay if i cant get japanese short grain, I will use any short grain rice, now the seaweed I threw into this post as I was asking a few questions. The answer is the wakame soup you posted here is the link ua-cam.com/video/ywp1agX0OpQ/v-deo.html now you put wakame in there, but where I am its probably more cost effective with sushi seaweed sheets, so wanted to know if it made a difference?

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel
      @JapaneseCookingChannel  3 місяці тому +1

      Oh, thank you for watching the other video too!
      Wakame and nori seaweed are totally different. So I think you shouldn't put it in the soup...😅
      Please just skip the wakame if you don't have one!

      @@JapaneseCookingChannel I am not one for cooking never had been get restless in the kitchen after a few minutes, however japanese food or the bases of the food look really simplistic and makes me really want to challenge myself to do it. Just as you posted I saw an article that also said its not advisable to use nori sheets to make your own seaweed snack either because its heavier and I realised there is a difference with the types of seaweed. I do love my seaweed snacks its salty thats why.......LOL But i watch way to many korean dramas with seaweed soup for birthdays that I am going to have to make a japanese recipe with seaweed in it at some point...LOL......Thank you for posting such wonderful recipes....

    As I eat, zosui will be similar with porridge. Method making is different and to me~! these' wide range of ingredients are difficult to memorize. I need more level-up. ❤Thanks for teaching precious hidden tip for cooking & living. 🤍Creamy boneless salmon can have noodle called spaghetti too instead of cooked rice.

    All soups looks so delicious, but Tomato Zosui is the easiest for me to make considering that I have almost all of the ingredients always at home and I love regular tomato soup. I don't have an access to dashi powder though, should I skip adding it or I can substitute it somehow?
    Also, I was wondering what is the proper way of eating different soups in Japan? Like should I use chopsticks or a spoon? (I know that to eat ramen I use chopsticks, but what about the broth?) I tried googling it but I couldn't find any satisfactory answers.

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel

      Thank you for watching my video!
      Yea! Please try the tomato zosui 😆 Hope you will like it! About dashi powder, you can use other stock powder or a little bouillon paste or something, but you can just skip it too. Just add salt and pepper if the taste is weak.
      When eating soups, please use spoon. Especially to eat zosui, spoon is common way to eat it.

    I love this channel, while I wouldnt eat some of these soups (not into spicy chilli sorry). For a beginner it gave me some great base ideas for soups. Especially the milk, water & rice which will help me set up my new home differently. One of your other recipes sets gave me ideas on mixing sake, dashi, mirin and miso. So I will spoil myself at my new place and order take away for the first time and order foods with those ingredients in it to ensure I like the combinations. Then start to buy, stock up and start making japanese soups or small meals at home for myself. Thank you for your channel.....
