I had a 2010 FJR and took it from Phoenix AZ to British Colombia via the Pacific Coast Highway. The bike handled like it was on rails. I loved your review very entertaining
Hello from a fellow FJR rider in Missouri! I have an '07 I purchased about a year ago and have clocked 6k+ in that time. I love the bike and love Missouri riding. Thanks for the review, great looking bike!
I am loving the bike. My girlfriend and I are at the Spring Fling bike rally in Eureka Springs AR right now on it. 4 hour ride here. Great ride. You are for sure putting on the miles.
I have a question for you: how's the slow speed maneuvering? I've heard that it's a little heavier up top than the ST honda and am wondering about like 1 to 2 mph turning......
@@muskokamike127 although I haven't ridden a ST, I can tell you if feels a bit top heavy at slow speeds. Nothing crazy, but you can feel it. I wouldn't want to wrangler it around tight city traffic. Once you get rolling, the weight disappears and it's stable and very well easy to handle. This is one of the reasons I recommend crash bars (front and back). A little reassurance in case it does go down.
@@Racc00nGuy thanks for the info! I have a vstar 1100 custom and it's a pig in parking lots.....I think it's 100 lbs heavier than the FJR.... Correction: I just checked the specs, the FJ is actually a few lbs heavier than the Vstar......
@@muskokamike127 it may be heavier but it's weight is all down low. Plus the seat height of the FJR can be a problem for some. I'm 6'-3" so it's not a big deal for me but I've heard that much weight up high becomes a challenge for our shorter brothers and sisters.
I just bought an 04 fjr from the original owner. So far I love the bike but hate the seat. I've ordered a Laam custom seat. Im also going to lower the footpegs and install bar risers. (I'm tall) Riding this thing the engine feels almost electric, doesn't really matter which gear you're in, it pulls smooth and keeps going. Winter is right around the corner here so I'm getting it dialed to take a few longer trips next summer.
@goldentrunnell7450 Very cool. Congratulations. Mine had the upgraded heated seat that was very comfortable. And yes, the bar risers will help a lot. I believe you will really like your new bike.
@OzarkHillsRider I was looking for a zx14 but this fjr was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Now that I've been riding it for a while I believe you're right, I think I'm going to have some good times on it. I've never had a bike with "bags" before, even running to the store for a few things it's actually nice having somewhere to put things.
@goldentrunnell7450 I've been a sportbike rider for years. Always having to wear a backpack. It's super nice to have the bags. An extra jacket is always good to have come evening time.
Way to go, bro! First of all, you're way far and beyond most of reviewers in creativity! Second, take care and enjoy your future rides. Third, great content you've got there, it IS a pleasure to watch! Regarding myself, I just got an FJR 1300 '15 of my own just last Saturday. Had a VFR 800 '07 before. And I just love that new bike. It stays on the road like a train on the rails and it IS agile and easy to maneuver (is this word spelled correctly?). It accelerates like a sports bike even in touring mode (a little exaggeration over here). But anyways, I LOVE it, Yamaha did a really great job!
Thank you for the kind words. And congratulations on your purchase. Maybe one day I'll get a newer model. I Love the way the bike handles. Even with two up. But the times I'm alone, yeah. It's a sport bike. Thanks again. Don't know if the word is spelt right, but I read it right lol.
At 650 lbs they don't like off road. I have only done a few kilometers on gravel with mine. I hit 140 mph on my first gen last summer. It was still pulling Have fun , great power through all its bands you will find
I liked your video. I just bought a 2004 last November but due to the Canadian winter I am just starting to get some miles on it. My bike looks exactly like yours except mine is not ABS.
Seems in great shape. Got the same model but dark blue ('05). Always preferred this light grey/blue though. Only gripe I have is I dont like the look of the rear end when the saddle bags are off. Ride safe 👍🏻
Five years ago I had the dark blue 05 model. I agree, it looks like an old man's bike from the back with the luggage off. I say that and I'm 60 years old lol. Thanks for watching.
I have owned a few Suzuki GSXF. I hope you get it. You will be amazed at the speed and comfort these bikes give you. Good luck and thanks for watching.
How tall are you and at which position you have adjusted the seat? Thanks for sharing this video. Enjoyed. Drop by when have time, you may like my content. Cheers.
Hello fellow rider. I’m thinking about purchasing a 2005 FJR. Do these bikes have an old gassy smell to them for being an older in-line four? Thanks and ride safe.
Not at all. And never heard anyone say anything about a gas smell. They are fuel injected. You should get it 😀. They are very comfortable riding bikes with more than enuf power to give you that goofy smile. Thanks for watching.
All cool till connectors and cables start to rust inside. This bike needs to be parked in a dry garage. Otherwise crap will start to emarge on cables along with mice inside the air filter 😂.

Yeah, these bikes are amazing. With the cold weather right, the heated seat and hand warmers are really nice.
I ride mine on loose deep gravel and very mild offroad(flat, dry clay soil) suprisingly stable and manageable.
