Nice to see you taking the B3306 and the more interesting routes 👍 I used to sometimes use it as my commute to work. Great ride during lockdown without the traffic 😬. 26 of us did Lands end to john o groats in 06, and back (seemed like a good idea doing it both ways as we live here....) Glad I found this. Nice video.
I have done a similar trip with the same bike. I understand your frustration with the traffic, I love Cornwall and the west country in general. Only spoilt by the tourists ! I'm looking forward to the next episode, cheers.
Cheers fella. I know I was one of those tourists but it just felt like half of the uk had chosen the south west as a destination because of Covid restrictions on foreign travel. That day exhausted me! 🙄
Nice, did many of those roads but over 2 trips, A39 heading south last year, and Penzance to Tintagel the year before. I live in the Isle of Man so long trip are less frequent, and we'll this year past non existent, good to see folk out there having fun though. I remember that bit of road where the camper was trying to pass the van from last year, I remember thinking wow you would struggle getting anything big down here, made me laugh.
Thanks Steve. That bloke in the camper was a right royal pain in the arse! I’d been forced to follow him for miles as I just couldn’t get by, problem was, I had to cut it all from the film as I was just constantly swearing and ranting at him. He knew I was stuck behind but just refused to let me get by. That’s why I sneaked through where I did, we’d been stuck there for about 10 minutes watching the poor performance of numpties with inadequate driving skills. Happy Christmas anyway and thanks again for the comments 👍👍👍🎅
Great vlog, found your videos whilst looking for Tiger 1050 reviews. Just looking at getting back into biking after a 6 year blip due to shoulder problems. Looking forward to the catching up 👍🏻
I've done this the opposite direction on a road bike, looking forward to doing it again with a motorbike to enjoy it in a different way. Great editing and very relaxing to watch, unlike the reality of getting through Cornwall!
Thanks bud. Yeah, the south sucks. I enjoyed it all but my best day was when I left the hotel just north of Edinburgh and went through the Cairngorms up to JoG. That day was awesome 😎 👍
I was moaning like a total dick that day! That was only the filtered content 😉. The route is the one from Bikers Britain by Simon Weir. I can imagine it’s an amazing route on a quieter day. I did moan a bit on day 2 thanks to an error inputting the route into the Scenic app.
@@motomogul I'm planning on smashing out the westcountry section on my lands end to john o groats trip. I've ridden those roads plenty of times. Day 1 is almost 400 miles for me 😥
If I can offer any advice, it’s not to set too high targets, you miss so much stressing over getting there. I’m going to Scotland again this year but I’m planning on staying in the same place for more than one night and riding out each day, just taking it a bit easier.
At last we have the Lands End / John O' Groats trip, took you're frustrations out in more ways than one in this one I see 😤!! Let me know when you're planning up here next year, perhaps we can have a wee bit of a ride out together? I know you like to keep yourself to yourself but we're kind of like two peas in a pod that way. I just got new Michelin Road 5's fitted to the Tiger Sport, somebody drizzled diesel on the road out, first of all just splatters then a foot and a half wide trail for several miles. Then I could feel the slipperyness of the new rubbers on the way home, though they did turn in to the corners better. 100-150 miles of scrubbing in according to the garage. I have ordered a voice recorder as no external like socket on either of my action cams. Setting up a channel called Triple T , "The Tartan Toorie" a Toorie being a woolen hat with a pom-pom, or slang for someone who Tours. Having watched the Ricky Vida vlogs, I see now why you chose the Africa Twin, should be great for your Tours and allow a little bit of rough road riding, nothing too taxing but just enough to take you to those otherwise out of reach vistas. Getting a clear spot in the weather now is difficult, a pair of bikers ( motor & pushbike) each lost traction in black ice last weekend, so being extra cautious!! All the best...Michael ( Triple T)
Hi Michael, yes, eventually I got round to editing the Lands End trip. Only the first episode though and after 4 false starts where I kept cocking up the edits due to limited storage space, very frustrating and about 5 days of my life lost in the process! Hence, the first episode wasn’t as detailed as I would have liked as I was sick of seeing the same bits over and over again. Will keep you posted about next year, not sure when yet , maybe earlier on around June but my plan was to do mainly west coast. Still not sure yet. Stay safe buddy. 👍
@@motomogul Ah!! The marvels of modern technology, great when it works but as often as not it doesn't. Need a grade ten memory card, so you buy one, only to loose all the footage you thought you'd captured, due to your camera's brand snobbery? Then there's the time it takes to render footage and requiring nothing short of a Super Computer to deal with 4k 😤. I really hope you're enjoying the Africa twin, I could have been tempted to replace the Triumph with one myself, but I'm already commited to the ZZR. It looks like that won't be untill into the New year, which is no bad thing considering the weather. Hope you and the family have a great Christmas, though it's never going to be Normal? I look forwards to the rest of the trip and to whatever plans you have next year.
I took a ride out to Lynmouth back in July, it is stunning around that part of the world great roads it wasn’t too packed either when I was there. Enjoyed the vid 👍
Thanks for the subscribe Sean and good luck with the CBT and the other parts to your test. It was an interesting route, frustrating in the south, glorious the further north I went. 👍
I wasn’t always that moany, it’s just that when you’re travelling alone you don’t always have a lot to say. I was also listening to audio books constantly which distracted me from observational conversation with the viewer, I won’t do that again. It’s not until you start playing it back you realise these errors. Thanks for the comments though, helps me develop. 👍
I’ve got about 7 either by Stephen Fry or narrated by him. During the Lands End trip I was listening to Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson, narrated by R. C. Bray, who is a very good reader, also did the Mars book by Andy Weir. If you like a bit of SciFi, I would recommend the series. 👍

Just wondered what Dartmoor ponies were doing on Exmoor !? Haha!
They’d wandered off! 😂👍
I am going to attempt this next year on my Honda PCX 125. Looking forward to it.

Thanks Andrew, much appreciated. I think I was just unlucky, loads of people doing the staycation thing thanks to Covid.
I've got my CBT end of may and I'd love to do this when I get my full bike licence, great video btw! Subscribed

Have you put your route somewhere so I can avoid it when I do it? I don't want to be moaning on and on all day about what I'd thought would be fun.
Never mind I've read some of your replies further down :-) Cheers
