I've been back to uni for almost a month and being away from family is really hard. Last year I gained a TON of weight while I was at school and only lost about a quarter of it over the summer. Being back with a different major and new job has made me so much happier. I go to the gym every other day and run every single day and I feel great! I use your videos as a source of motivation so thank you for this one! Makes me feel super proud that I'm turning my health around!
You inspired me to go back to the gym just over 3 months ago, it's been great, I feel better than ever and have lost over 20 lbs in the process. I get up for it at 6am every day, have significantly improved my diet, no longer even ponder touching junk food and have never regretted it. So thank you! Much love
The Lean Machines are my motivation! I had so much trouble working out and seeing results, but when I started watching the Lean Machines, John and Leon showed me that working out can be fun! It made me realize how important a positive mindset can make all the difference! Thanks you John and Leon!!
I did dry land training yesterday for Figure Skating, and I'm feelin it right now! Absolutely hated every minute of it but stuck it out and now feel great! This video makes me want to keep going ! So Inspiring and super motivational ! Thank you so much :)
Great vid John! I've found about Ben Coomber through you and Leon and he changed my life. I've turned my diet around and I'm seeing all the results I wanted to see for a long time but didn't. I stopped counting anything, stopped eating wheat 99% of the time, and I listen to my body and give it the nutrition it needs, which works amazing. And I'm finally at the place where I don't care if people say that a steak & veg is not a meal for a girl and I should have some pasta, lol. Thanks again!
Apart from whey I would not worry about supplements spend that money on quality food. If you are not putting on muscle from just your diet alone that is where the issue's are maybe not enough calories or protein to facilitate it. The supplements I take are Vit D3, Omega 3, Pre Load, whey & leucine
Green tea has a thermogenic effect on the body but I think it takes like 6 cups a day to have an effect. Keytones are a fuel source used in things like the keytogenic diet but that pretty low carb, I'm not sure how they would work if your diet is normal & high in carbs
You rock man! I moved to Australia from Europe 4 years ago and I have gained 6 kilos... I don't think that I am not happy... I got married this year and I love life here. but I do think that it is the kind of food that is served here. Big problem... and a sweet tooth... Love you guys and big hug from Sydney/Australia!
Such a small thing that has been so drastically tampered with by us to create bigger yields and more resiliance to disease has change wheat from what it used to be. You don't see wheat standing tall above your head anymore it's all GM dwarf wheat which now has 24 chromisones I think when Iycorn used to be much less.
Thank you very much for this video, you're such an inspiration. I follow you guys for a while now and I feel like you both are genuine and truly enjoy helping people on their journey. Of course it helps that both of you are hilarious!!
I really enjoyed this. My main question is this: what do you recommend for someone who is vegetarian? I eat eggs and dairy, although I try to keep the latter in check, and sometimes I feel like I eat eggs too much. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Loved to see your drive, Mate! Wish I have enough cash to hire a personal trainer like you!! Well, let's see if I can find a friend or a boyfriend in the business and I'll be good. HEHE
Some people get addicted to carbs and pulling them off them can be like cold turkey, this is due to the endorphines like glutiomorphine that bind to optiot receptors on your brain and make you feel eurphoric hence why some people love startchy carbs and get grumpy if you take them off them. If I was you and you want to cut them down I would limit them to maybe one meal a day like dinner and see how you feel.
Thanks for being awesome inspiration! I've lost about 10 pounds using tips from yours and Carly's channel! It's a slow and steady process but it's paying off :)
I heart you! You get me excited about having better nutrition and make me want to workout, just wish you were in the U.S. so I could hire you as a trainer. Haha!
Would you recommend an oatcake that has got peanut butter spread on it with blueberries raspberries and strawberries with almonds on for breakfast John :)
I thoroughly enjoy all your videos and they turn out very helpful, but I don't remember seeing any kind of before/after picture of you or Leon, picture of you two before you started a healthy routine... Or maybe you've always been like that by some kind of miracle!
Love the vlog :) do you change your diet towards winter for 'warmer meals' like soups etc? Can't wait to get back to your exercise vids after healing from a knee injury - so frustrating! love you guys xxx
1) I am a massive carbohydrate lover, give me rice, give me pasta, give me potatoe. I just love them, I don't think I am eating excecive amounts but any advice on how to mix it up would be appriciated? 2) the happiness thing is so true, I recently over the summer gained some new friends and got alot closer with an old one and when I was happier I noticed that I dropped almost 4lb in a week without really trying. thank you :D
Great video - totally didn't realise how good coconut oil could be! Really fascinating academic article about the benefits of saturated fats at life-enthusiast / truth-about-saturated-fat-a-27 I'm off to H&B to get some coconut oil. No more vegetable oil for me...
John, I suffer from Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I eat a lot of fruit and veg, grill meat rather than fry. However due to the intense pain that I suffer with throughout everyday, I have become overweight and unfit. What exercise can you suggest that will help keep what muscle I do have left in good working order?
I love bread but as soon as I have it I bloat so bad!! I have started eating wraps instead now to see if it makes a difference as hate that sluggish feeling especially when I want to train!
a lot of girls at my work are taking green tea extract and raspberry ketones to try and aid weight loss, do you know anything about it? not sure whether there is any benefit
Two questions?! I'm am probably an impulse eater, grab something quick because I'm hungry which is often BAD choices! How are you restraint enough to wait for meat to cook for breakfast??
Quick question: is it recommended to have meat in the morning? Like chicken breast or steak, and if so what else should you eat with it? I'm trying to lean out and gain muscle. But I find myself tired or lacking energy, but I eat 5-6 times a day, smaller meals. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks :)
I just wanted to ask what cardio exercises I could do because I have flat feet which recently effected my knees which is shit because now I can't run anymore..but I love running!!:(any ideas??also I love how dedicated you are it's very nice to see people so passionate about something:)
Have you got any advice for vegetarians in general? Alot of the time when im eating very healthy and loads of veg and quorn, swapping coffee for green tea, eating low carb and gluten free etc, i feel great for a while but then after a few weeks, i start to feel cold very easily and get tired/lack energy/motivation. However I do feel like i look great and shed some pounds.Confused lol. ps love your channel!
Really interesting to hear about your diet, for a vegetarian however would you say that two eggs on two slices of wholemeal toast is a decent breakfast (with some spinach when I have it)? one thing I would say though is that training 5x a week is not the "normal guy" haha, I do train 5x a week also, but I doubt I go as hard as you especially on the cardio front. Impressive abbs though., mine a re just starting to come though so I hope to be where you are in another 6 months or so
Here in New Zealand our weather is super unpredictable, do you have any tips on how to keep up the motivation to leave the house for the gym when the weather is crap? TheLeanMachines
Hi guys, I got a question for you guys. So my belly is very bloated, basically 24/7. I almost certain that it's due to gluten. I eat bread like 2 times a day and sometimes like spaghetti for dinner. I am thinking about staying away from gluten for a while and see if it helps but my problem is that i do a lot of cardio. I run like 2 times a week and do another cardio heavy sport 3 times so I need a lot of carbs. What are some good gluten free carb rich foods? potatoes and such?
This guy is such a legend! The chapman family is legendary

This video is just insane. You're a real life genius John and you deserve all the love of the world
I did dry land training yesterday for Figure Skating, and I'm feelin it right now! Absolutely hated every minute of it but stuck it out and now feel great! This video makes me want to keep going ! So Inspiring and super motivational ! Thank you so much :)
Wasn't having such a great day today, but watched this video and now I'm ready to go for a killer run. Thanks, John!
Very motivational video!! Please do more of these!! It helps remind me why I started!

Love your positive attitude toward life, need to find more people in my life like you!
You make me want to get in the gym and enjoy it and be positive about everything. Love it! Thanks John (& Leon) x

I found out that I'm allergic to gluten, and i'm thankful for that :)
So that's why I had those chronic stomach pains since I was little.
Can you do like a playlist of what you listen to, also maybe a boxing workout ? Thanks for posting these videos and keeping us motivated :)

You don't see wheat standing tall above your head anymore it's all GM dwarf wheat which now has 24 chromisones I think when Iycorn used to be much less.
It could be a gluten or wheat issue and in which case wraps would contain the same.
Thank you very much for this video, you're such an inspiration. I follow you guys for a while now and I feel like you both are genuine and truly enjoy helping people on their journey. Of course it helps that both of you are hilarious!!
Glad you enjoyed it and mental health is just as and if not more important
Cool and positive vid mate. Australia loves you.
This is great John, really great to cover things outside of training and diet too.
I think so, some people talk about eating 3 hours before bed for growth hormone purposes but I'd rather eat even if it's late because I sleep better.
i love how positive you are alwayse makes me smile
and Leon should do a video like this too!
No I don't go for sugar mid-day... unless you count the milk in my coffee.....
Love your passion, this video was amazing I'd love to see more sometime in the future!
Love your attitude on life! It's infectious.
I really enjoyed this. My main question is this: what do you recommend for someone who is vegetarian? I eat eggs and dairy, although I try to keep the latter in check, and sometimes I feel like I eat eggs too much. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
If you are very low carb you probably need a carb refeed day every 5 days or so where you take in slightly more.
Loved to see your drive, Mate! Wish I have enough cash to hire a personal trainer like you!! Well, let's see if I can find a friend or a boyfriend in the business and I'll be good. HEHE
Wahoo thanks for watching & I hope it helps.
I don't but I have and most days it's about 3000 sometimes more some times less if I consider EPOC from a big session the day before or a refeed ect

just recently come across your videos, i like what you say mate and the positive attitude, keep it up!
I have just discovered I am allergic to gluten so I've cut that and wheat out and I feel amazing I'd advice people to do it even if they aren't x
Thanks for being awesome inspiration! I've lost about 10 pounds using tips from yours and Carly's channel! It's a slow and steady process but it's paying off :)
Ahh John, that was such a good video! Well done. I feel all motivated now. Thanks :-) x
