The Dangers of Getting Off Suboxone

  • In this video, Dr Peter Coleman, who is Board-certified in Addiction Medicine and in long-term recovery himself, shares lessons learned about the risks of getting off of buprenorphine.
    -Safe, Comfortable Outpatient Detox
    The Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine has been a leading outpatient addiction treatment center since 1998. Our innovative withdrawal management programs, often referred to as The Coleman Method, have helped thousands of people free themselves from addiction to Alcohol, Opioids, and Benzodiazepines. Originally founded in Richmond, Virginia, our network has expanded to cover 14 cities across the US.
    -3 - 8 Day Opioid Detoxification Process
    For short-acting opiates like oxycodone, most patients complete their detox and begin Naltrexone therapy within 5 days. Longer-acting opiates like Suboxone and Methadone typically take 8 days. Our standard opioid treatment package in Richmond, VA, Willoughby, OH (Cleveland area) and Wellesley, MA (Boston area) includes the detox and 6 months of case management and Naltrexone therapy. As a non-addictive opioid blocker, Naltrexone dramatically reduces cravings so that patients can focus on their recovery. We have a 98% success rate for completing detoxification and starting Naltrexone therapy. During the detox, we work with patients and their families to develop an appropriate aftercare plan. We also offer a convenient, 3-day outpatient alcohol detox and a Rapid Benzodiazepine Detox.
    -Caring, Empathetic Environment
    Dr. Peter Coleman understands first-hand the challenges our patients are facing due to his own personal struggle with the disease of addiction. He has been in long term recovery since 1984. Dr. Coleman has dedicated his career to treating addiction patients and creating a team and an environment conducive to long term recovery for his patients.

    I have been on it for 14 years. I have been tapering for over 8 months now and I am down to .25 once day and feel better than I have ever. It is an absolute must to get off this medication and taper correctly and safely and have a plan and stick to it. It is difficult but it is very much possible.

      @@jessegoodspeed5076That's crazy, my doctor was just telling me about that. Because I can go without it for so long. But then that's why I'm listening to these videos. Because them Suboxins are giving me , Withdrawals when I try to get off of them. But that new abdomen shot, she told me. It also can cause a lump here. For several days, some people go through it. Some don't, so I'm still thinking about that😢

  • @entertainmentgaming8738
    @entertainmentgaming8738 Рік тому +8

    I don't get why people say its harder to get off of subs than it is opiates and other derivatives. Fact is you never got off the drugs in the first place. You just replaced it with subs. Now imagine if you didnt have anything to get you off of the opiates or heroin. Subs are way easier as it doesn't get you very high. It just gets you high enough to ignore most withdrawals. Going through life without being codependent on any drugs is the real challenge, not Suboxone itself. Its an extremely mild drug so it has very mild withdrawals

    • @Neverasheep
      @Neverasheep Рік тому +3

      Have you taken them for a period of time and got off? I was on them for 12 years, they do get you high and the withdrawal takes a ton of mental toughness. The acute withdrawal is pretty tough but the length of the PAWS is very hard if you don’t figure out how to get you brain to start producing dopamine again. It’s not as hard as people say but we are talking about addicts who talk themselves into throwing in the towel when we get uncomfortable.

    • @truckingwithtobee
      @truckingwithtobee Рік тому

      Do you have any idea what you’re talking about right now? Or are you just speaking out of your ass? Suboxone is extremely strong. It’s 100 times more potent than morphine! If you give it to somebody that is not used to opiates, it will literally kill them. Suboxone absolutely does get you high. So unless you know what you’re talking about I suggest you don’t speak on this matter. And getting Office a boxing is just as equally bad as getting off pills. It’s the same exact withdrawal symptoms. Exactly the same. And I know what I’m talking about because I’ve been on the shit for 10 years.

      Was this a real statement? Most addicts have gone through opioid withdrawal, many times in jail, and had to suffer the withdrawal with out the help of methadone or suboxone. So, we know the difference between doing it that way and becoming dependent on subs.

      Hi Oliver Twisted--We have developed an 8-day outpatient detox specifically to help folks transition from buprenorphine or methadone over to long-acting formulations of naltrexone. We've helped hundreds of people through this process and made a lot of improvements along the way. We use small doses of naltrexone to speed up the withdrawal process without precipitating full withdrawal. We also customize a set of comfort medications to help manage any symptoms that do appear. When we've surveyed our patients, most of them report that their detox using the Coleman Method was easier and more comfortable that other approaches they have tried. Hope that helps!
