I took an entire semester course in public speaking (Gen Ed) as an undergrad and you've reduced my semester to under 10 minutes. Huge kudos! Class dismissed...!
Captivating opening line! Drew me in because I totally relate. 😂 Thank you for all of your helpful videos! As somebody who has always struggled with public speaking, I feel like that fear almost always extends to an anxiety about performing or speaking on camera, so these tutorials are feeding my soul and pushing my boundaries!! Anybody else agree?
Michael, I am so glad to have discovered your channel! The depth of level in your videos is truly amazing and beneficial, thank you for your expertise and willingness to share your knowledge!
This is the sixth of your tutorials I'm watching today, and you can rest assured that it's not the last. Highly professional stuff, very useful. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for the tips, Michael! Sometimes teleprompters make huge benefits, I have experienced using Powerpoint slides in a teleprompter, so I mirror-flip the slides with PPT Mirror software (using a Bluetooth remote). Helps me to record videos keep eye contact with viewers and speak confidently because I always have my whole concept in front of the camera, and I don't have to read word for word, which leads my videos to be more natural and also leveled up the quality, especially talking heads.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’d been looking for expert info like this for A LONG TIME🙏🙏🙏I love to see some more of your broadcasting tips. I can tell they are based on VAST experience.
Great stuff, Michael! As an ex-actor and current teacher, I practice and teach most of these same techniques. We share much of the same philosophy, too. I am happy to have found your channel. Blessings to you!
You do such a great job of modeling what the viewer should/should not do in your videos. You don't just tell, them you show them. Keep up the great work, you are a very positive role model.
This was a fantastic video! You gave tips I’ve never heard before, like “talk your script” and “don’t over-rehearse”. That’s gonna change the game for me. I tend to over-script my videos and I was told that I sound robotic. Thank you so much for your content, I just subscribed :)
This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen. I've been encouraged to start vlogging. Starting from scratch, I am full of apprehension for the reasons you opened with. Always good to hear that you are not alone in procrastinating due to this.
I recently found your video through Meredith’s channel. You are a great teacher as well and your audio quality sounds amazing. Do you have a video about your audio? Thanks so much😊
Wow, this was great! With this COVID social distancing, I'm trying to reach out to my kids in different ways. I've NEVER wanted to get on camera. I suck at it. I started with your topic on Quicktime and have been reading Kindle books and sending them out. Now I'm going to jump into the land of video. Ugh. This was so very helpful. I just have to imagine my kids in front of me when I talk and I'll be great! Oh, and the best part? No one is interrupting me!
Thank you for the help. I am a recent starter on UA-cam, and it has become something of a self-awareness tool for me. It's amazing to me how some of the things you do automatically, when talking in daily life, get lost in front of a camera. Great content; I'm very jealous
Yes I need this. I literally stopped for 2 years and Everytime in want to get on, I get flustered. Thanks for the tips and I look forward to making more content confidently.
Hi Michael, this is Fito, from Oaxaca, México, I'm learning a lot of tricks from your videos, for Imovie and talk in front of a camara.... I'll watch all your videos.... thank you for sharing your knowledge, I really appreciate that... I wish you could be my neighbor and teach me as my personal teacher or, instructor.... thanks again, god bless you.... I say HI FROM ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA
hilarious! excellent tips, some things i was starting to realize a little already. i love the examples you gave such as staring into the camera.. very funny
Not just this but all of your videos here are simply awesome and a great guide for a novice or a pro to learn. Its been a month I am watching your video again and again to be more confident before I could face camera. And this video really gave good answers. You are the mentor to me. Thanks
Very worthwhile viewing. Have saved this to watch again. It appears so seamless, that I Am in awe of, what Michael produces. Could you give me, and others hope by telling how many takes this took and how long we should be aiming at initially to talk on camera? Thank you, Bob H.
This was a big deal. This list really helped me learn to check myself. Get a better self-awareness and do a better job of constructively criticizing my own performance. Looking back at other videos, ugh! LOL But I love that I have some better guidelines for the future. This was a great video and will really help. Thank you! ❤️👍👏
Mike, such an informative video. Wish I had of watched this before my last upload. It would of prepared me more. Oh well. Next time. I have, however, used so much of your tips and tricks in my last video about my adventure through Spain. From your Keynote tutorials to your iMovie advice. Thank you for your fantastic channel and all the effort you put in. Rich Mooney UK.
Great list Michael. You mention posture, but you don't specifically recommend to stand rather than sitting. You obviously were standing in this video. Do you recommend standing on-camera?
I loved this video! Thanks. I had to just listen to it as the constant jumping in and out of the camera really triggered my vertigo! I’ve saved this for later.
Hey Michael, I've noticed that almost all youtube creators "edit out their breaths", resulting in a lot of jump cuts, but also, give a good clean audio so that the audience never hears the speaker take a breath. Do you find this part of editing to be a necessary part of UA-cam video creation?
These are great tips Michael, thank you! As a former doc producer/TV director myself, I’m not a big fan of the cuts within a sentence, what used to be called a jump-cut back in the day. But I guess i need to get over that. ; l
This is great advice - many thanks. I always worry that a Scottish accent will be difficult for people to understand but there is not too much I can do about that! Good to see elocution lessons isn't a hack! :-)
Every video you do teaches me something so important! You are THE BEST! I wish there were awards for best videos on UA-cam! You'd win, hands down! Now, a request for a future video.... I'm doing a course with a keynote presentation and want to do a voice-over, (I don't want to appear in the entire video- just the beginning and end, and maybe for important points) and I'm using a teleprompter, how to do coordinate it? It makes my head spin to think about it! LOL
@@LiandaLudwig Yeah. Take one thing at a time. And if you want to appear halfway through, or whenever, record that separately. Then drop it on a slide.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and expertise publicly j appreciate every inch of it hopefully I can able to turn my confidence upside down in front of the cam.
Thank you so much for these AMAZING TIPS!! I found your videos while searching for I-movie editing tips. I was pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful guidance along with a superb group of instructional videos for editing! I have just subscribed to your channel and really appreciate the work, time and effort you put into your content creation!
This is the most powerful and comprehensive tutorial on video recording speaking skills. Concise, inspiring, and exciting.

Totally - this has come at exactly the right time for me :)
This is by far the best instructional video I've seen. I've delayed creating content for YEARS because I'm so uncomfortable on camera. Thanks

I would record your on-camera segments separately, then edit them in later.
@@MacVideoMagic- and just do a voice recording while recording the keynote and clicking to forward the slides as I'm talking?
