I own a Genesis, and I use to own a BMW 535i. I absolutely love my Genesis and will never go back to Bummer or any of the other luxury brands out there. And I like the "old fashioned" look, it has great character. Genesis is the best car, by far!!!
I don't think lexus is chasing the 3 pointed star, lexus has its own niche .

Facts
I own a Genesis G90 5.0 Htrac Ultimate, Genesis G90 I love the naturally aspirated V8. Genesis I love it, Genesis GV80 as well, G70, G80. G90 has a Lexicon Sound System, same as the Rolls Royce Phantom, Genesis is in a league of its own, people can keep a S-Class, BMW 7 series, Audi A8, Lexus LS until Lexus puts a V8 back in the engine bay, the V6 drone no think you. Awesome Review!

Does it have alot of room in it im 62 so I need leg room
S class drives better tho. And nicer styling in the inside. You get a great deal on g90s tho. 70k to 80k usd vs 100k to 120k for Mercedes s class. We ended up getting a used s class for 70k and we love it. Rides better and has more of an identity than the genesis.
@@daveruby2854 That's cool, I have driven a S-Class they are wonderful cars, but when it comes to reliability and high mileage Genesis and Lexus LS will reign Supreme. Genesis for me, out of Warranty you can keep a Mercedes. That's why people trade them after they Warranty runs out, or buy the newest version that hydraulic or Air suspension is a nightmare.
@@daveruby2854 except the S-Class doesnt really ride that much better than the g90. most people wouldnt spot a difference. also have fun when the warranty on the S Class expires.
I test drove both and eventually bought a G80. I live in a city and parking space is limited. No buyer's remorse.

I have been down with lexus 21 years nobody can touch them never fails. Hyundai is cool but lexus leaves no doubt lexus wins but genesis is good
They are both great sedans in their own right, I personally own a 2016 Lexus LS460L with the V8 and I absolutely love it.

It’s strange that you compared the hybrid LS instead of the twin turbo V6. The 416 horsepower is smooth and powerful not to mention fast.

I'm surprised the color of the interior LS was not talked about. The only other car manufacturer I know that actually comes with that bright, different, eye catching color from the manufactuer is Rolls-Royce.
Although, both car manufacturers could use ambient lighting, much like their European counter parts.

Both are quite at the same levels. I would prefer Lexus only for the more interesting interior and the reliability reputation.
I like both cars. But I drive a Hyundai, so I have to go with the family.

Thank you. The comparison was very informative and enjoyable to watch. I found your style and presentation very refreshing. One suggestion to consider is to include an MSRP Price or "cost of ownership" during the video comparison. As an alternative, your channel could include test model MSRP prices in the video description if not during the video itself.
The LS screams avalon as soon as you see it. The exterior of lexus as a whole has no separation identity from Toyota. That's always been my main problem with it.. besides not having an es f sport in awd.. the literal only reason I'm considering it over the genesis is the obvious reliability of the Toyota family. The cost to maintain is the lowest for lexus out of all luxury brands.. I'm not sure what to expect with genesis but Hyundai ranks close to the low middle so and have to assume it's not going to be terrible.
I currently drive a Lexus GS 350 which I partially bought because I thought that it was incredibly good looking, and then the rest of the reason was that it's a Lexus. I have had problems with this car, so that surprised me. When Lexus changed to this body style on the LS, they lost me, that's an ugly car, and the sales figures say that I'm exactly right. I choose the Genesis.

I feel sorry for you that your GS 350 is faulty, was it brand new or used? The GS 350 series need a careful maintenance. I own the CT200h 2011, changed oil every year (that's the only maintenance I do, haven't changed brakes or anything else yet), still smooth like fresh from the factory!
I agree, the ls500 is not very good looking but that G90 is even worse.

The G90 has an tasteful, elegant look to it, both inside and out but I'm leaning slightly towards the LS. With an all new G90 on the way, I think it will challenge Lexus even more.
I was surprised when I found out that were getting a all new G90 as a 2022 model year I think although it makes sense because they also want to make a GV90 for 2023 model year I think

Fantastic review! The g90 definitely feels like it was brought to market before the GV80/70, it’ll be interesting to see how quickly it is refreshed

I have to admit I WAS a Lexus man, BUT I’m digging the G-90 more than the LS!
If you want a “firmer” ride in the G90, then put it in SPORT MODE.
Even if u do like the genesis a lil better, just remember what a genesis really is at heart. A Hyundai. Those are way less reliable, ran into so many people with them that struggle at only 100k miles! Lexus will last what seems like forever

I am still driving the 05 lexus, if I sell it I still get 10k out of it. how long the Genesis last ? how much it worse after 15 year ?
If you are worried about money, these cars are not for you, drive a Camry.
Ummmm..... ive had 3 Genesis..... the latest 2017 G80 Ultimate 5.0 is still worth $33K after 5 years with under 50k mi. My older 2013 G80 ultimate is still worth $14-15K with 60-70 K miles.
Not sure the hybrid LS was the right choice for this comparison. The 3.5L TTV6 is the more evenly matched power train to Genny's 3.3 though it makes close to a hundred more horsepower and torque.
I think it showed that the Lexus hybrid is not that much more efficient.

If Genesis truly wants to be considered a major contender in the luxury car space then the last thing they should want is to be considered the "bargain" of the group. In reality, folks shopping in this vehicle class and price range usually aren't willing to compromise opulence, build quality and prestige for the sake of saving a few thousand bucks. #LS500

Both cars have their pros and cons but they are still fine luxury cars. According to most reviewers, in terms of luxury that the Lexus LS500 is superior in interior and has good reliability (even beating German products) while the Genesis g90 is superior in exterior and has advanced technology (even competing with German products). People who can buy and maintain these luxury cars must be rich bosses so the price issue won't be a problem, if the problem then you're NOT their level (their market) thats why these cars are most used by rich ppl or even conglomerates

Excellent review! Detailed and well balanced, showcasing the pros and cons of both sedans...I agree that the LS interior materials are superior to G90 and while the exterior does not blow me away Is nicer than it’s opponent. The G90 gets points on style execution and an airier looking cabin. Both sets of wheels are absolutely atrocious at this price point!
I must say I am Genesis owner and a massive brand supporter. However I must admit both inside and outside Lexus wins! So something to improve for Genesis and catch up to big brother.

I would normally say the Lexus but as I like to try new things. The Genesis G90 seems more of the simplistic approach.
Id have to drive them both but just based on the interior I'd go with the Ls
Why didn't you take ttVS Lexus LS500 for this competition.
It obviously has the best 6 cylinder in the class and the best transmission. V35A-FTS and 10 speed are truly the best.
Seems like comparing the non hybrid LS would be more reasonable. There is a 20K gap in the price of the cars which really doesn't put them in the same conversation. It's like comparing an AMG E class to a regular 5 series.
It would much better if you'd took regular LS500, but than it would be obvious how far behind is Genesis Engine and transmission tech (even if we would take 3.5l powertrain from g70)
I will always pick the Lexus because it offers reliability like no other. The Genesis would make a good lease, drop it before 100k miles

Im a korean. But i gotta admit lexus ls is the best full size luxury sedan. I ve owned es, gs, and rx. Next one will be either ls or gx.
Lexus has clean look looks super stylish but it ain't as luxurious as a mercedes s class
both are beautiful and statuary cars, I prefer the side of the Japanese but the back and the front of the Korean is nicer to me. For the interior, both are exquisite with different and distinctive vibe. I only think that curtains would be better than shades to add more luxury and privacy (it's the Toyota Century charm point :D ).
PS: I guess someone enjoyed being chauffeured :D People must have thought this was a rich lady going to the department store or the office !

Lexus is in a class by itself when it come to luxury, the G90 is getting better each year but it’s not even close in my opinion. I would take either car though.

It's good to see Asian cars go after their German counterparts. Yet, they still have a lot to do as regards ride agility & performance.
If I choose between the two, the G90 would be my choice though the Lexus LS500 looks more sexier.
Lexus already being like that since the very first with their LS400..and so other asian manufacturers do yhe same like acura,genesis,infiniti, etc

For those of you who might not be aware...the reason Mari keeps referring to the grill on the G90 as the "Crest" grill is because many folks, including me, think it resembles the crest on Superman's costume.
The grill on the Lexus reminds me of the Alien in the movie "Predator", when he finally takes his helmet off, haha!

I don't know why I'm not getting notifications from this channel. Excellent review, but the G90 is looking dated. The LS is unobjectionable. It tries to be aggressive, but it aims at being inoffensive.

That Genesis is amazing. But.... their G80 has more of the Lexus sporty sedan look.
The rear end of the G90 is god awful ugly.

Which engine did the G90 have? If she said it, I must have missed it. I believe in her country, the G90 offers a base 3.8 liter V6 (which isn’t available in the United States), a 3.3 turbo V6, and a 5.0 V8 (the only two engine options available in the United States).
This G90 is equipped with a 3.3T engine :-)

The Lexus exterior front fascia looks like a monster face.
For me having just come off an LS 460 it’s all about the G90 which I just bought and the Lexicon Soundsystem is unparalleled & way better than the Mark Levinson in my opinion I love Lexus,but the G90 is just super sweet and for 15 or 20K less it’s a no brainer.
My main issue with Lexus is their infotainment system. It's quite frankly just bad. Genesis has one of the best infotainment experiences.

Yep! The g90 is a nice luxury barge but the g70 has the balance of luxury and handling and performance !
@@russellgeorge1993 personally I care about fuel economy and performance a stock BMW M340i does 0-60 in about 3.7 seconds w awd w one turbo the V6 G70 has way worse fuel and has 2 turbos and 0-60 is about 4.4 yes it has better warranty but I would buy it used anyway and the G70 has a significantly smaller rear room compared to the BMW
I like the Lexus LS500. The flush fitting side windows and styling stand out for me. However the only let down of LS500 is the center screen (which looks like a cheap after-thought) of the otherwise perfect design.
I think you're mistaken regarding the Genesis . The wood is real , the silver is not plastic but brushed aluminum and the dashboard is leather

Funny how Mari keeps slipping up when it comes to the tires and wheels, but she isn't exactly wrong at 3:09. Okay let's get this straight, "wheels" is tire AND rim together but it can be used interchangeably with "rims". When referring to tire size just say "tires". When referring to the rims you can say "rim" but "wheel" is fine too, people will understand. So then at 2:19, "These are 245, 45, 20-inch wheels" should be, "These are 245 by 45-millimeter tires on 20-inch rims" or "wheels" if Mari prefers. :)
If you know about tyres and rims you'll know which figures apply to tyres and which ones to the rims. Not really any need to break down rims and tyres tbh otherwise with rims shed have to then speak about offset, rim width etc as well
Once you factor in engine build quality and resale value it's the Lexus all day long

I bought the G90. I think it is a classic look. I also went with the 3.3 twin turbo for I believe it is a driver's car. I have children and really did not want them to have all the controls in the back. The car is like you are in a concert hall and the exterior noise is whisper quiet on the interior. I AM very happy with my choice of the G90... :)

what a great video, at first i was like okay she is korean so she will give credits to genesis. but i was totally wrong. just subscribed your channel because of this honest, fair and detailed comparesion.
Since this is LS 500 Hybrid, the batteries co-powering the engine is placed between the rear seats and trunk, making the trunk space smaller compared to G90.
Lexus is more sophisticated for sure
