I believe that loop on the multi-tool is for a keyring so you can put it on a set of keys or carabiner. I may be wrong and if I am feel free to correct me, but that's what I've always thought they were for lol.
Best wireless guitar story: my local family owned guitar shop back in my old neighborhood, the owner’s son and guitar tech Mike was trying to sell a wireless system to someone. The guy asked “but, really, how far can I go?” Mike grabbed a red strat, plugged in, started playing and walked outside… and kept walking as we all watched him walk almost 3 blocks away, perfect sound, no drops, no interference. Mike made that sale.
On the flip side of this, watch out for gear that’s gonna frustrate somebody, especially a new player. Nothing will discourage your nephew from learning guitar like a guitar that won’t stay in tune.
The best gift is your ears. Take the time to listen to the guitarists in your life. No gadget comes close to the value of personal attention. Thoughts from an old man. Cheers.
That detune pedal is such a Quality of Life sort of thing. I very much would enjoy a product like that to ensure different tuning but not at the expense of my strings. Cheers and Happy Holidays
The Drop is pretty great. Only annoying part is that you need your amp loud enough that you can't hear the sound of the unamplified guitar, or it sounds absolutely awful. In a band setting it's fantastic though.
Oh..as an electronics repair engineer i feel the need to point out way better and more long lasting way to apply 'deoxit'.. Trying to get it properly in through the axle is not good.. on some pots it may go in to resistive track a bit, but you have way better chance having the pot working if take out the plate and try to get the stuff in where the wire lugs go in..or some pots have a punched hole for internal rotation limiter where you can get the stuff in.. and you should flush the pot with 'dry' agent (like an isopropanol, ethanol, ipa spray.. i'm not familiar with 'deoxit' brand..that sounds like the stuff to me but may well be greasy which is not optimal at this stage..)..maybe couple of times.. stuff in..yank the pot with full rotation multiple times.. add cleaner.. twist the knob..and so on.. Finally we need a very small amount of greasy stuff in.. i can recommend wd40, but only very slight puff..and then last twisting..! First chemical will clean the resistive track inside, and the last puff with 2nd greasy chemical will protect it from getting reoxidiced.. Oh..and some pots have special lubrication in axle..applyin cleanet thru it may flush the lubricant away and into the wrong place! Also last puff must be concervative..we don't want it so much that it'll start collecting gunk.. With these tips you may get *very* bad pots working like charm that you already thought were needing a replacement.. of cource if there is mechanical failure inside, eg loosened connecting rivet, etc. there is nothing you can do other than replacing the pot.. Happy Christmas time!! -Hipihei
Gift idea, try a Black Mountain thumb pick. It is a total game changer for those out there that use thumb picks. I bought mine and have never looked back, great for all styles of playing.
Try this - do some asking/snooping and find the strings/picks your gift recipient uses and get those. I'd be touched if I recieved a set of Thomastic flat .12s or pickboy tortoise shell jazz 150s. That is a truly thoughtful gift. Not just feeding the gear money machine.
I just became your student. Thank you for the affordable price. When you stated this course is your life's work, I am immediately sold. I have huge respect for musicians who attended Julliard. I also laugh out loud at your humor.
The absolute best, most amazing gift ever in my opinion, and that is if I can afford it... GUITAR KITS!!! hell yea, super dope xmas gift idea... and then maybe a nice set of quality pickups and locking tuners to go along with it...
Awesome! I've already forwarded to my wife. Only thing I'd say about the Rok-Loks is that depending on the shape of your guitar, the finish, etc, the plastic will eventually leave marks on the finish. If you have "that pristine guitar that doesn't have a scratch on it", these or clip-lock straps will eventually scuff up a spot on your guitar around the buttons over time (purely based on my experience; your mileage may vary). I've already written a letter to Santa for the NUX wireless; too bad I think I'm already on the naughty list.
11° gift, seldom mentioned: a cable tester! 🤩 Not all the guitar players own and are able tu use a multimeter or carry it in their tool bag for live performances.
I have to say...the Rock Locks seemed intriguiing, so I got some. They're much better than I was expecting. Work well on a stretched out strap, and actually easier for me to put on/remove from the guitar. I'd say anyone should have a pair or two.
i’d say that a looper pedal is good for beginners because you can practice playing with another guitar. you can have chords playing to improvise over them as well
There I fixed it. 1: new guitar 2: new guitar 3: new guitar 4: new guitar 5: new guitar 6: new guitar 7: new guitar 8: new guitar 9: new guitar 10: guitar pedal if you're cheap like that
That round thing on the multitool is called a lanyard loop. Its so you can put a splitring hoop and use it as a keychain, or make a neck strap or a tie down for your shop area so you dont misplace it. Tons of uses.
Deoxit is seriously amazing. It really works wonders. And the whole claim that it "improves connectivity" is 100% accurate. I had a faulty pickup selector that would sometimes cause the signal to completely cut out. I was positive it was just bad wiring and I'd have to pay to have it rewired. But one spray had it working absolutely perfectly. Smooth and silent. It also fixed my scratchy as hell volume knob so I could finally make subtle volume adjustments without pulling my hair out. A few sprays of deoxit and my guitar was back at 100%. Lastly I used it on a 25 year old crybaby wah that had decades of dust inside rendering it unusable.due to loud scratchy pots, and guess what? It fixed it
Hello, I was wondering if you could share the name brand of the strap you are using with the Rok-Lok strap locks? My son really liked that strap. Thanks!
Great ideas .I would add Marshall or Fender amp key holders that come with guitar plug key rings that plug in .Very reasonable and on the site that is a S.American river
I got a free set of those roc locks from the inventor at NAMM 23 super nice guy! Really good design works soooo good works with any style type of guitar knobs. 🤘😎🎸
As a late convert, I'd add a gift voucher for a luthier to this list. A good set up can make a world of difference to a guitar and it helps me to know that there's nothing wrong with the guitar. It's all me 😂
Dunlop sharp picks are so good. I got a pack last christmas and I've been playing hard with just one so it's getting worn out, which on those picks is essentially just turning it into a regular guitar pick.
Sadly the Digitech Drop or any drop pedal sounds terrible at home, unless you play at a high volume. The problem is when you hear the acoustic sound of your electric guitar, and the changed tuning through the amp simultaneously.
The only issue with the Digitec Drop is it seems to have a little bit of trouble when multiple notes are ringing out on top of each other, like in Come As You Are
D'dario pro string winder. It has everything you need and I absoleutly love it. It is honestly one of my favorite guitar accesories. It is a great stocking stuffer and I would love to see it in next years vid. @MusicisWin
This one is pretty expensive but I saw a bluetooth speaker in the shape and branding of a Marshall Amplifier. I thought it would make a great gift for listening to music but its prices are $200 - $300 online :/
0:53 I’ve been using these for about three months. No scratches that I can see. They also come with these soft little self-adhesive pad thingies that you can stick on the Rok-Lok for extra protection if you want it.
Funny you should ask....I have my own Frankenstein that I love to torture in various ways including intentional drops, tip overs and once "accidentally" left a cigar burning to close. I did a 360 swing with these things and they held tight and I tried to scratch Franky with them....nothing.
hope one day you can get up to the clifton park new york guitar center my 10 year old son would love a chance to win a guitar he is pretty good answering your questions have a merry christmas

Happy holidays I hope you all get a sweet guitar. I know a bunch of people who will certainly be getting one from me next week... stay tuned \M/
Putting my name in the hat 🙏🏻 Happy holidays man!

This is awesome
Your video says the "Super System" is $49.50 annually, but when I went to sign up it said it was DOUBLE that. What gives. Thats false advertising.
i got a msgs here it says iam selected is it fake or real

The circle stem on the multi-tool is for a lanyard so you can attach it to a gig bag, belt loop, or whatever and it wont get lost.
On the flip side of this, watch out for gear that’s gonna frustrate somebody, especially a new player. Nothing will discourage your nephew from learning guitar like a guitar that won’t stay in tune.
THIS!!!🙌
On the flip flip side of this, if your nephew makes too much noise … ;)
@@martyshwaartz971 Nieces and nephews are the perfect people to buy loud ass gear for 😂 My siblings can deal with that
ok, i'll buy him a floyd rose equipped metal machine
@@yoyorobii Floyds stay in tune very well if they’re set up 😎 My first guitar when I was 8 was a Kirk Hammett LTD.

The scar is honestly sick af.
It gives you an edge.
I’ve always loved your content and playing and now you’re the guitar scar guy.

Thank you dude! Super helpful for gifts for my band mates! Also the best gift is probably a 1960s Olympic white American made strat.
Bought the strap lock while the video was still playing. Stoked
It's so good
The circle thing on the multitool is for attaching it to a keychain or retractable cord for a tool belt etc.
I was just looking at my Ibanez multi Tool wondering what the hell is that
The Rok Loks are already on the way...what a great thing!
Gift idea, try a Black Mountain thumb pick. It is a total game changer for those out there that use thumb picks. I bought mine and have never looked back, great for all styles of playing.

I got a pair of Rok Lok from the guys at the NAMM show. They are so freak'n easy to use. You have no idea whatta game changer these strap locks are.
Agree!

Great cause Tyler! I donate to St. Judes every year! Great gift ideas too!
I have 2 roklok sets and they are great. can turn any strap into a locking strap.

PRS, just have a hardware store grind the screw heads down a bit, and you can use the same screws with the Dunlop straplock buttons.
A wireless system is definitely a great gift idea for those who don't have one. Made my practice time a lot easier for sure.

Just signed up for your guitarsupersystem . Looking forward to diving in.
Oh wow I'm suprized your first concert was sevendust. I love that. They where my 3rd ever live performance and they are awesome live.

Totally agree. Love this stuff!!
Can confirm on the NU-X transmitters. Bought mine about a year and a half ago and I love em!
Me too. Love them as well.
+1 to the Digitech Drop. If you are in a cover band, and don’t have one of these, you are missing a huge bit of convenience.

At 4:07, I think that little tab is meant for you to hang the tool off your keys
BTW nice nod to the Casino Ballroom. 5 of the 10 best concerts I've ever seen have been there!
My wife got me a PRS SE 24-08 for our anniversary a couple years ago. I guess I'll keep her. 😛

The multi tool is awesome. I've had one for years. Gave a couple as presents.
Dunlop sharp picks are so good. I got a pack last christmas and I've been playing hard with just one so it's getting worn out, which on those picks is essentially just turning it into a regular guitar pick.
Best gift I ever got was a 60's Les Paul Standard last year for Christmas.

Time to replace that kemper rack with an axe fx iii lol
Gonna compare your Centaur to the JHS NOTACENTAÜR?
Okay, that REALLY made me want a wireless setup.
The perfect gift will always be "the burst", a real 1959 Les Paul.
Great Gear Choices Thanks!

Sadly the Digitech Drop or any drop pedal sounds terrible at home, unless you play at a high volume. The problem is when you hear the acoustic sound of your electric guitar, and the changed tuning through the amp simultaneously.
Im sorry, but people watching this video want the gift rather than thinking of getting to someone else 🤣🤣
That DigiTech Drop pedal looks cool but it must be a mind-F hearing the acoustic string pitch.
The circular tool might be for tightening loose nuts on tuning pegs/output jacks?
To hell with the gifts, let's talk about how and where you got that PRS semi-hollow single-cut 594.
The only issue with the Digitec Drop is it seems to have a little bit of trouble when multiple notes are ringing out on top of each other, like in Come As You Are
You look slimmer! I liked
Great list, apart from the picks - got to be 1.14 Dunlop Tortex Flow 😀
Hey Tyler, just for curiosity, how many people are subscribed to Guitar Super System? (Including myself of course lol best course ever)
Alternative to the digitech drop tune is the pitchfork from ehx

Woo! JHS shout out! I love their stuff
Do you find any lag with the wireless system?
That pick is not made of stone.. It's torlon, a super expensive thermoplastic. Fun fact, they made a car engine out of it!

Looks like same NUX dongle that came with amp. Love the video and the RokLoks(sp?). Dumb question: won't the RokLoks scratch the wood?
0:53 I’ve been using these for about three months. No scratches that I can see. They also come with these soft little self-adhesive pad thingies that you can stick on the Rok-Lok for extra protection if you want it.
