As a Vertigo Swirl collector I know the thrill it means to find that special, rare album on the label. Many congratulations, it was a fair price! I spent the same for my copy, only that was more than 6 years ago…
I have now got every UK swirl except Dr. Z (I have the Italian pressing) and Aphrodite’s Child.
    Love your videos! 👏🏻

Class that he’s looking for Anvil. They’re not my cup of tea personally, but if you’ve not seen it (I’m sure you have) - Anvil: The Story of Anvil is one of the best music documentaries I’ve ever seen, worth a watch for anyone who’s even remotely interested in music.

I got Jan Dukes de Grey Mice and Rats for £1 a few years ago at a boot sale, so it can happen. It's sickening when someone in front of you gets the bargains. I also got both Trees albums, Ultimate Spinach Behold and See and two toploader White albums, along with Black Sabbath 1 on swirl for £1 at boot sales. That doesn't happen any more.

I was in a record shop in Glasgow in1980 , and saw a copy of Kaleidoscope's , Faintly Blowing , a Fontana original , NO watermark....and in mint condition...and I passed on it , as I'd heard some other so called obscure psychy uk lps that came out circa 1969/1970 , that didn't impress me. Then I heard a copy a chum had bought , sleeveless , at a market in Glasgow for £0.90. , a short while after I saw the copy I originally spotted. After hearing it , I freaked that I'd passed on the copy I saw....of course when I went back to the shop , it had long been snapped up. How much was the copy I saw , complete with it's fold out cover ? £0.50. it's stuck in my craw ever since. I've had other rarities I picked up back then , like the Arcadium , Breath Awhile LP , which I thought was awful , and sold it for next to nothing...if only I'd held onto it a few more decades ! Also had the first ? Raw Material LP , on the Neon label....bought for 0.50p....again , it didn't impress me. I never set about buying records for how they would perform on future auction sites , so , innocently just let them go for whatever I could get for them , or swap them for other vinyl. However , if I'd had any notion of the exorbitant values that records that I'd picked up for buttons and didn't like would fetch in future , I'd have been more wary about letting them go ! They could have been used to swap against overpriced records I'd subsequently be after. At the end of the day , it's the music , and liking what you hear , that counts. The Five Hours Back repress from 1986 of Kaleidoscope's, Faintly Blowing , albeit it's just on a single non fold out sleeve , sounds fantastic....I can't tell the difference between it and the Fontana label issue (which I scrutinised when I heard a pressing).

Always a great video! I have to check out Tudor Lodge. I never bothered to check it out, but I will.
Now, the most I spend on records is down below. The copies I bought are all in VG+ condition. Pentagram's debut is like closer to NM.
    Pentagram - S/T (1985, Pentagram, US) - £395
Day of Reckoning (1987, Napalm, US) - £158 (Bought it from a Discogs seller in Brazil. I had sweaty hands for three weeks waiting for it haha)
    Culpeper's Orchard - S/T (1971, Polydor, DK) - £156
Hair - Piece (1970, Parlophone, DK) - £123 (The fuzz is nice on that one!)
Check out Culpeper's Orchard! Danish heavy progressive rock with a folk flavoured sound. They had a British vocalist named Cy Nicklin. That album could've fitted right in with the other Vertigo releases.

I don't have any serious grails for the music. I collect hit albums and there are a few that I'm not keen on that should be in the collection at some point because of their hit status (Led Zep, blue-triangle Dark Side etc.), but as far as the real favourite music, it's rock 'n' roll (so 1961 is modern by those standards!). I have debut and early albums by Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry. The 2 most expensive in that collection were Sound of Fury (Billy Fury, £80) and Elvis 2 (£125), and Elvis' UK debut, £75 in 3rd. I'd happily spend more if needed, but the market doesn't demand it and is declining.

@@JohnBlutarski I heard that 20 years ago, and bought my copies around 10 years ago. I'm not sure it's true. A quick look at Discogs' offers, yes you can get them cheaper tthan mine, but only in poorer condition. The ones in better condition (also as at the time I bought them) are much more expensive. What does seem to have happened is that my middle-ground compromise is no longer available. I’ve got a 1971 vinyl album Tonton Macoute(NE4) & 1972 vinyl album by a Ray Russell band The Running Man on RCA Neon(NE11). I’m led to believe they’re worth a bob or two……
Couple of Hard Stuff 72 & 73 albums on Purple as well. GC. I’d’ve thought they’re pretty rare as well, I dunno…..

Tonton Macoute's album is one of the medium rare records on Neon. Decent copies are still pretty costly though. The Running Man on the other hand, the last l.p. released on Neon, is quite possibly the rarest of them all. Its definately one of the Big ones for label completists.

As much as I LOVE the predominance of the Vertigo label, 'Tudor Lodge' just isn't one I ever enjoyed that much, so could no way justify spending that on a copy. As an artifact, it's rare as hell, but as music, it's not worth it. ONLY IMO :) Enjoy your new purchase tho!

I have a large number of 1980's 'metal' vinyl albums, 12 inch singles, 7 inch singles and many picture disks. They're no longer needed. How can I sell them as single or as a whole collection without being ripped off. I do know many are rare and valuable.

Hello from America!!! I really love your show!! Your adventures with your Grandma are killer!! I have to say that you guys pay way more for your records (especially the common ones) then here in the states. I'm from Detroit and I also collect vinyl have around a thousand. Some suggestions since you're a metal fan. Seduce and Halloween (not Helloween) both bands are killer 80's metal kings!!! Seduce was in a metal movie called Decline of the Western Civilization ( The Metal Years) .... I also suggest checking out Warrior Soul...
I currently have a Utube show called Motor City Rock Talk where I interview band and artists from the Detroit Metropolitan area from the 60's up to today. Check it out and KEEP ROCKING!!!
    Cheers JimiJive 🍻

I never really wanted to spend more than €50 on a record, but I absolutely had to own an original pressing of Reign in Blood.
I think €100 was a fair price back then. Nowadays it is worth significantly more.

I have all of Slayer's original pressings. All in Mint condition because I record my albums to Chrome or Metal tapes using my high-end Nakamichi or Pioneer Elite Reference deck on the first play then put them away for safe keeping and never play them again except on the cassettes. Maybe my wife will sell them for cheap when I die. LOL.
