I bet ur worn out
Funny man that’s made me laugh 😂
As a 48 year old metal head I love vinyl! But have to be honest I lost all interest back in 2000 lucky I kept my collection the prices now are disgusting just insane
I stream to find things, download a digital (preferably lossless) copy if I like it and buy the CD if I really like it as I want a physical copy. A lot of electronic/dance music was only released on vinyl though, but I never got into the format.
You have to go very far back to win albums ruled, and were something you listen to at home. Out and about in vehicles it was always Radio. 8-tracks were expensive when they came out. And we really designed for use in cars. They were only around for about 10 years. From the late 60s to about 1982. Cassettes, we’re around the 60s and by the late 70s had taken over eight tracks and all other forms. Their small size portability and good sound quality. They of course, were only around for about 15 years or so and we’re easily surpassed by CDs. Which of course passed by digital.
What?
I'm lucky that I never got rid of any of my vinyl from when I was a kid. And like Mikael, I would find alot of records that people basically would toss out or would just donate to me. Also buying records at record conventions in the 90's for dirt cheap. I could basically make a mint these days if I sold some of those off. I still look for deals which still can be found if you're patient.
I started collecting vinyl 10 yrs ago I also still by CD & cassette I stream music when I’m outside & listen on my headphones , I have not counted my vinyl 1 recon I have around 3000 records are so, I’m into Metal, Thrash metal, Rock, Punk, soundtracks,Dance,Jazz,Hip hop,Reggae, Ska,Alternative, and anything that catches my ears music takes you to a different place 😊
Right at the end I see Piledrver album in front of him. That album got me into rock music along with another Vertigo album Framed by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. What a great label Vertigo was.
This was excellent. I hope you do another video with this chap. Great knowledge and what a collection Barry has.
I've just started collecting again. First time since 1992.
I was obsessed with collecting it for nearly a decade, but the increasing price and the amount that I’ve accrued has made me slow down immensely. Now I only buy an album if I really love it and am dying to have it in my collection.
Only posers pick digital! 🤘🏻💿
You've got it backwards. Poseurs pick vinyl because trendy.
@@nicksterj still better than digital
@@Riky_Jones You would think that, if you're a poseur.
@@nicksterj it’s like saying I like a band yet don’t own any CDs by them.
Vinyl records tell a story from the artwork covers to the crackle of the needle. I still got the original Studio One LPs that have silk screen print covers from Jamaica.
It’s good that Opeth pressed vinyls, I just bought Still life today
He scratched an original Black Sabbath swirl? What a muppet.
I go by coach when I go to Germany.
If you buy from Bandcamp the artists get a decent cut.
Loved the punk artwork stall!
It has to be vinyl, one good thing about vinyl you can touch it, look at the art work, you can with a digital down load.
Hello Jake, Great video from you and Popa Dave. I really enjoyed it. It's great that you made this video especially. Best wishes, Julian
My significant other's teenaged daughter doesnt have a CD player. She DOES have a record player though and she loves it. We got her a subscription to a streamer which she enjoys but she loves to throw on a record when she gets home. She enjoys having to get up and flip the record or reset the stylus.
I dont understand why you leave records because the market pricing doesnt suite! You either want it or you dont.
For me I'm a vinyl addicted with thankfully, willpower lol. I agree with the Belgian guy and I just love vinyl.
Well they make nothing on second hand records at all.
Spot on!
Dude word of advice, keep your camera still...er. People will be seasick watching your videos.
Ex DJ here, from my experience vinyl was great, but it took up a lot of room and weighed a lot. for a home collection Perhaps, it has its place! but also MP3’s, been able to listen to tracks in the car. Been able to download something any time anywhere, been able to have those songs across all your devices and take up no extra space or weight is absolutely amazing. so for me I still have a set up in my house and I still have vinyl, but it’s through traktor DJ so it’s a hybrid system of both vinyl and midi controller/sampler.
Focusing on formats has always been a bit stupid, focus on music. If you can’t hear the pops and clicks and distortions and you’re happy to dust every side of every song you play and happy to buy and sharpen stylus and happy to accept the costs associated with outdated spinning plastic at slightly wavering speeds and grooves causing vibrations (often the wrong ones) being amplified and pushed through speakers then that’s great but it certainly isn’t the best way of doing things. Vinyl is expensive, takes up a lot of space and has been superseded in terms of accuracy by many decades of technology. Records age and wear the more they are played but if you like them, play them, have at it. If anyone wants several crates of vinyl records gathering dust since I used that format as a DJ - please get in touch, they are simply taking up space. For the size of a hard drive I have all the music I can ever listen to and I can leave it where it is and take copies of how ever much of it I like on a single sd card or my phone or a media player and play it and DJ it wherever I want. It’s in my pocket not filling up precious space.
Been collecting vinyl since 2004. Have 300-400 Records. Everything from 60’s rock, metal, Punk, synth, electronica, indie, dubstep, techno, pop etc. 😊
I love physical media. I buy the CD and burn it to my iTunes. I listen in my car and on my phone digitaly. If I really like the album I buy it on vinyl. Vinyl is so expensive now that I’m scared to play it. I own over 2000 cds and about 120 vinyl records.
Vinyl for the win!!
?
I own all their music. Didn't know about them until the late 1980's early 90's after they were long gone. Long before the internet a man from England sent me their albums from there to the US where I lived in Oregon at the time. Loved their music then and still do now. I really do feel that Vincent Crane was either the best keyboardist of all time or at least is up there with the best of the best. Their music changed quite drastically from that first album until it got greasy..... I like all of it. From the first one to the last.
Two pounds man that guy
Youre getting some good reactions from these people man
I love vinyls, they have a good future you cannot collect downloads, much better to own records, 50 p you can buy a single, fiver for an album, and they are in decent condition as well, and of course some vinyls are worth big bucks.
I like that it’s forever. Check out the operating times for hard drives, disc or solid state. Shit degrades. It’s magnet tape or this. Also, isn’t the sound high fidelity?
it's also the art work and the smell of a new album
Good shop that , unknown pleasures on the high street was good but it's closed now
This guy does not know how to conduct a survey. ‘Londoners’ is a wide audience, but he targeted a specific area/sample where he may find more vinyl-collectors.
I know they weren’t great but I’m so nostalgic for tapes.
I remember back in the early 80's when digital recording on vinyl became a thing. I have a few Jazzfusion albums done that way. One thing I have found to be very important is the quality of the vinyl production. The quality of Japanese jazz recordings was always excellent back then.
Funny how the people who don’t collect vinyl instantly feel uncool, hesitant to answer, embarrassed or start with an excuse. What does that tell you? It’s like, if you are a football fan yet have never been to a live game, you almost feel like you haven’t validated your support. Same with vinyl, you haven’t validated your love of music. Deep down you know you’re just not that into music and people find that hard to admit.
The question is do you listen to your records. Or collect.
The Bob Ross of Vinyl... I could listen for hours
Digital is shit
Nope. Digital is awesome. Lossy compression is shit.
Vinyl sounds so much better
No Adrian Smith on that album unfortunately.
Modern vinyl collectors; so many are buying digital masters pressed cheaply on vinyl and thinking it sounds better. We all collect for different reasons; but i wish the buyers were more informed or aware.
There is nothing better than buying vinyl taking it home and blasting out the music on the record player 🎵🎵
Definitely! Especially when you have no idea what it sounds like and it turns out to be really good! What's the best album you've bought blindly to realise it's amazing once it hit the turntable?
The one album that blew me away the first time I heard it was physical graffiti!! I was getting into more and more guitar music when I was 16 and my dad gave me it to listen to and i can just remember thinking god bless rock and roll!!!
