Thank you Margaret. I have been retired for 6 years now. I love not having to go to work but find I am not always motivated to accomplish much in my day. The laundry waits, the dusting waits, the dishes pile up for a day etc. Then I get a burst of energy and get it done. I have a cute little cottage home on beautiful Georgian Bay in Ontario. I have always dreamed of retiring in such a place. Money is tight as it is for most of us but I try and enjoy simple blessings. I wish I looked younger, thinner and healthier of course. I do reflect on my life both good and bad times. I decided to move on from the heartbreak of an estrangement from my son. I take each day as it comes and enjoy the peace in my life. I guess that is aging in a positive way.

I find it hard to find “my tribe” now that I am widowed, it narrows my circle down. After 50 years with my husband, and at 73, it is so difficult to have like minded friends who understand and are on the same path as myself. I am determined, with the help of people like Margaret to be more positive. Thank you Margaret ❤

Margaret, you are amazing! You are my encourager. When I'm uncomfortable doing something new that I've wanted to do, and over and over again, end up frustrated because I can't get any of my existing friends to go with, I'm INSTEAD becoming courageous and doing it alone. When I am striking out again and again, trying to make new female friends, I think of you. I get up, dust myself off, and try, try again. I'm extroverted, and so tired of always being the initiator. My personal value/ rule now is, I will do it once, and then offer to them that it's their turn next. If they don't follow up, I move on. Next!

I agree that curiosity keeps the blood flowing, and brain fresh. I keep my metal detector in my car, stopping wherever I see interesting spots. I try new things like woodworking, and find that I don't have the patience for the finesse required. But at least I tried it. I continue to take courses in things that interested me when younger (I'm 75 now), and love the additional information. I recently completed courses on Black Holes and Quantum physics, with another in Quantum Mechanics lined up. I also learned to can in my 70's, and bought a dehydrator two months ago. I have learned that there's a very good reason for slicing food thinly. 😏 I'll be taking up Pickleball and Line dancing next month. These are courses offered to us veterans at the VA. Line dancing will be interesting as I have two left feet. Oh well. 😂😂

When I got 40- long time ago- it was terrible for me. But that was only for a short time. After that it was ok. Now I'm in my sixties and I really like beeing older. Ok, the body is not the same and sometimes I look in the mirror and think- oh, goodness, what is happening here? But it is what it is and I never tried to appear younger. I never dyed my hair, it has some silver linings now and people say it suits my well. I never gave up on learning, I try to improve my english( I' m german) by writing comments on UA-cam 😅 and I' m still working full time. But that is hard sometimes I feel. I forgave most people and I apologized for most of the things I've done wrong. I'm not as healthy as I was when I was younger and that does scare me a bit. And the fear of having less money when I retire. Great topic, Margaret and a lot to think about👍😊

I am certainly not delighted with getting older, however, as you point out there are several things we can do or we can change and we can adjust in our lives that can make a big positive difference. That is why I'm saving this one. I need to hear it again and again. Thank you Margaret!!

I think we all need to embrace the positive things in our life. I admit I despise the wrinkles and other physical changes. I'm planning to move in the future to have a more active and fulfilling life. I really don't worry about being 67 but keep exercising and keeping my mind active.
I only wear small amounts af make up now and embraced my silver hair with a pixie haircut. Health, contentment and happiness are essential at any age. We need to look after ourselves and avoid negativity.
I had to estrange my only living sister due to her aggressive nature. I will not return to that.
Find things that make you happy and surround yourself with kind people.

Wonderful question! It can serve as a tuning fork for all of us. We might need to ask yourself this question several times a day to stay on track. I also add 2 more: Am I satisfied with everything? Do I feel joy at the moment? I do NOT struggle aging, and deep inside I feel not older than 45. But sometimes the circumstances bring my mood down... To become completely immune to them is the goal, and you contribute a lot to reaching it. Deeply appreciate your wisdom!

Such a wise and beautiful lady. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your positive input. I have fallen short on this until now. I was always a woman that looked pretty good and that's all that got me through life. I have never had self confidence. I never pursued a career in life because of all my fears. For me at 70 this month I'm hoping to increase a few things to enhance my life. Without money I feel that people don't talk to me in clubs. They want to travel and compare their lives as career women at the coffee group that I joined. I recently realized that I can do things within my reach that bring me happiness. I may now thanks to you, broaden my reach.

I don't mind the number of my age, I don't mind my gray hair, I don't even mind the changes in my body as long as my body continues to function. It's really about diet and exercise now.... I turned 60 last month. To be honest, I had mixed feelings about it, but once it passed, it didn't seem like a big deal. I'm starting to look forward to this new decade of my life. My 50s were tough, I lost many in my life that I love (including my ex-husband, whom I was still close to), so I'm hoping for a lot of new beginnings and letting go of things I really have no control over. I think I'm aging positively, I keep busy with my job, and I'm active with exercise and trying to eat better. I used to weigh in the 150s, but I have dropped down to the 130s, so I'm feeling better. I live alone, but as an introvert, that has never bothered me. My next big move will no doubt be retirement, that's a little scary.
