Been very happy with the 2019 and now with my new 2022 I am very pleasantly supprised with the improvements. I am riding under the harsh Australian sun without display issues. My only modification is changing out the front sprocket from 15 to 16 teeth to suit my mostly on road riding.
Interesting that you had a 2019 one and now the 2022. I'm still in the decision making process if I should buy a used one or the new one. Some people say the new Upside down suspension and the double breaks at the front are not worth an upgrade, others say it is a good improvement. What are your thoughts on the two bikes?
Reply to Stef F Lots of comments from every corner however its mostly a personal choice however when you take the 2022 model on first ride of over 400km and get the first 1000km up in the first 2 weeks on inland rides on reasonable good but not the best roads you know that the upgrade was worth it. I do not however indent to talk you out of going the second hand way because for a budget priced bike it is a great machine. You will find out how it suits you and then might be tempted to upgrade to the next 2024 or whenever a substantial upgrade is on offer. By the way delivery times are shockingly long at this stage (at least in Australia) Regards SA
@@siegfriedassel9152 Thanks for your comment. I tried to book a test ride here in Melbourne or at least sit on one but that was not really successful. The delivery times are indeed extremely long atm. Cheers Stefan
Stop it Craig.... I was SO close to buying a new one a few months ago and managed to wean myself off of the CB500X.... starting to want one again. They really are superb bikes. Great series Mate.
I've rode my 2019 version in a group with the usual GS, Stradas and tigers etc. t keeps up fine when you use the gears and that make you enjoy it more. I ride mine all day long and it never misses a beat and is just great fun to chuck about and with 80mpg your laughing
For whatever reason this bike is seeing a massive resurgence by reviewers... even ones that previously passed it off are opening up to it being an amazing little (compared to other ADV bikes at least) bike, let a lone an amazing beginner bike.
I have a similar problem with the side stand on my 2014 cb500f, so I will physically look at the stand to make sure I have put it down properly. Another great vid
Have you adjusted the screen brightness? The "from the factory" setting is three, but the brightness goes up to five. It really made a difference to me.
Side stand is a simple fix - just pull the peg back with the heel first, then forward with the side stand. I also found this odd at first, but the technique works fine.
Hey so here’s the first time I’ve posted about this,…. Video coming soon though. My buddy bought a brand new 890 advR this weekend. Didn’t make it 5 miles from the dealership…..
@@OregonMotorcycle KTM Kontinuous Tinkering and Maintenance. My buddies 690 imploded and he had to rebuild it due to the cam bearings going. He's turned off KTM for life now. Despite its power I never had trouble keeping up on my dr650 that I never had any issues with.
Course you could tour on it. I don't see the obsession with power and touring . I toured France and Italy on a gpz 500 two up no problem. Great review . Ps I have a nice vfr750 .
I did over 2000 miles through France, Spain and Portugal on my 500X in June fully loaded for comfortable camping. It was a better touring bike for me than the Pan European that I’d ad for the 9 previous years. A great all round bike.
@@Motourev The old grandma always was saying read the instructions carefully :) But for real ,there are a few clever settings like the brightness of the rev counter light etc
Great little vlog mate , love the colour of the bike would make a great 1st bike and with been A2 even better totally agree about the display screen and the side stand did look a bit tricky hope honda take note 👍🏻, looking nice and clean now too cheers Craig 😉
Good review, and agree the 500 would be a good tourer, but only if you are riding solo. With a load capacity of 185kg, if the rider and pillion have an average weight of 85kg with bike gear helmets ect, that only leaves 15kg for say hard panniers and a rack, and nothing leftover for the actual luggage.
hello I got 2022 model I ride with my wife that mean 180lbs me and 145lbs my wife no problem at all cruising very nice ride lots of torque good machine nothing to say like it
Interesting review, if it was a café bike. I can verify with rider weighing 15.5 stones my 2022 CB500X will do 105 mph or 169 km/h on level ground @ 500 rpm below the redline.
Thanx for the review. I am a 50 years old total beginner and thinking to buy my first bike. The cb500x is on the top of my list but also the VStrom 650xt and also the suzuki SV 650.... Difficult to choose, want to have a practical bike for commuting but also go on some touring in my country with enough power and not 'difficult' for a beginner as me. Ride safe and cheers from Serbia :)
Have you tried the Benelli TRK 502 X? Cheaper than the CB500X, just as competent 👌🏻👍🏻 As far as the screen goes, look at the Speedo Angels matt finish screen protector 👍🏻
Excellent 🏍️💨👌 💯% I got the 2019 model it may not have as many features as the new 1 but I guess the good thing is less shit to go wrong lol... Got to look at the 🍷 half-full sometimes, NOT a "fast" 🏍️💨 but definitely quick, handles good & great riding position. I put the 16 🦷⚙️ to spread out the ⚙️ing.. I had the 21 Africa twin adventure sport but it was just too much of a 🏍️💨 then I got the 2018 CRF250L rally that was an excellent fun bike just not quite enough. For me personally the 500X hits the sweet spot imo. I just like having an off-road/dual sport for the street, it's better riding position & if you want to take some dirt roads you have that option as well. God bless you 🙏💯👍🙏
Hi, thanks for the video, would it be possible to meet up with you sometime in the future, i say in the future because i have a problem with my knee at the moment, the bike i have is the Benelli TRK502, it feels ok but havent had chance to trybit out yet, i bought it to go camping on. Please let me know, thanks
Looks a nice bike. Are you aware of the speed limits on the roads you were riding? I noted at one point you were doing 50+ mph in a 30 zone. You need to slow down matey. If the police saw this video they could look at prosecuting you with this video as evidence.
Do I detect a Bham accent? Looks a bit like Brum in the vid. Yeah this Bike ticks a lot of boxes, esp if you just passed your test. Think am going for the Interceptor though, looks over sense haha (Honda mpg etc n longevity). I would def want a center stand.
I watched up to 3 minutes when you were doing 60mph in a 40 mph limit and that was enough for me. Shame on you. I hope nobody was watching who have lost relatives in high speed accidents.
With increasing speed restrictions and the ever increasing cost of fuel bikes like this make a lot of sense tbh.
Just bought a 2012 NC700X for the fuel increases. The CB500X would have worked as well. They each have their strengths.
Yep👍
speed limits don't seem to worry this fella.
I have this bike and your correct. It’s a brilliant bike . When you change riding positions, more over the bars or sitting back it changes a lot .

Kick stand location is easy, just push back on the footpeg with your heel and you will find it easy peasy.

I only had the bike from Honda for 2 weeks it’s no gone back, I’m now waiting for the 2nd bike
Just bought a CB500X and yes, that foot rest does get in the way of the kick stand.
Who needs more, you outperform at least 80% of every car on the road. Nice "new" color . This one with a top-or sidecase: winner!
It’ll outperform 95% of the riders too;)
The Camping Biker and Jan's and Matilda's Adventures both seem to get on with theirs well, fully loaded and the older model I think.
Side stand is a simple fix - just pull the peg back with the heel first, then forward with the side stand. I also found this odd at first, but the technique works fine.
Thanks Phil will keep that in mind 👍🏻
I have never attempted to use the heal for the side stand. Just take your heal back and nothing is in the way🙂
There is anti glare films to buy for computer monitors and such, it might help with the dash being too reflective..
Thanx 🤘🏻
