If I recall, Earlier Masterpiece figures back then were trying to have Transformer characters be more realistic in their alt modes while give the bot modes some semblance of accuracy to the animation, examples being, the MP01 and MP10, Starscream 1.0 and 2.0, the Sideswipe and Prowl molds and Bumblebee 1.0, but it obviously wouldn't work when the alt modes were that of fictional modes like Grimlock and Hot Rod. Course now they're trying to be more animation accurate with modern masterpieces but I wouldn't be lying if I said I preferred what the original few masterpieces were trying to achieve.
You are correct about that, I wasn't trying to imply otherwise, but I unintentionally did. I was just saying the name always bore a weight that dredges to mind perfect versions of the character, not perfect altmodes.
Anyways the point was just to say that I was going to be judging it by accuracy.
And I do believe the level of Animation accurate modern MPs are going for is overkill and they should tone it back a bit.

Whenever you say "It's an MP Bee remold" I think you're doing the "everything is a remold of CW Silverbolt" joke, except you're actually serious.
More like "the Dead End mold" joke. (As merciless as it is, it must've been a lucky break for Dead End.)

Right? Like there's only so many ways you can make a G1 bumblebee transform and even then there's differences between the two. And I guess g1 seaspray is a g1 bumblebee remold
Fervently disagree. Sure there will be parts that have to be the same, but this is not just that.
This is literally just a case of taking the same figure, and cutting it in half at the waist and flipping it.
They started with the MP Bumblebee as a base and they retooled it. That much is beyond question. Weather or not you think that constitutes a new figure is debatable, but the starting place for the mold is not.
It has got be the origins Bumblebee as it achieves so much while still being a deluxe!

Even Earthrise Cliffjumper has flaws, I will say he was the one figure that got me to probably collect TF toys. It’s ok if you don’t like the toy, I got him for the character only. ❤️
That's good to hear. It never matters weather or not something is good or if people agree with you, it just matters that you like it for what ever reason you do.
Well, the older masterpiece figures were more so going for realistic/stylized takes on the characters (while still trying to be semi accurate to the original) so that’s why the masterpiece one is how it is, and since the masterpiece is going for a realistic look, and not going for 1-1 screen accuracy. I’d say that he wouldn’t be scoring negatively there. In the masterpiece’s case, it should be scored based on how accurate it was to the original voltswagon beetle. While I do still agree that the origins bumblebee is better, the inaccurate car mode for the masterpiece isn’t really going against it, at least in my opinion.
I'd argue that while yes that is what they were doing, the result is the name doesn't make sense.
Like the name Masterpiece doesn't evoke being perfect cars, but perfect versions of the character.
And the problem with grading it like that, is that it is close enough to the Show version that it does fall under the heading of "Accurate to the Classic Interpretation."
9:45 Out of all the Cliffjumper deaths, this has to be the most brutal!

The main reason why MP1.0 Bee Alt mode different with the cartoon is because old masterpiece trying to be realistic and toon accurate at the same time. Hope i can find origin bee in my country too, he's such a cool toy
Yeah I knew that, I just think that the name Masterpiece hold a connotation, and being the best possible real vehicles does not fit into that.

Yeah it's kind of amazing how literally NO ONE likes that figure.
I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say mp was going for complete cartoon accuracy at the time of mp-21. It certainly didn’t begin that way and up until mp inferno all of them aimed for a real world accurate alt mode and had details such as pistons in the arms, greebles etc that didn’t originate from the cartoon. Mp was definitely trying to be cartoon done realistically at that time.
Oh no for sure it wasn't, but the Name MP does carry a certain connotation, and for them to have defined that at the time as "Perfect Altmodes" is stupid and counter to the nature of the Idea.
But yes, it's not trying to be the Perfect representation of the cartoon, but it is close enough to that, that I do feel the category I normally use of accuracy does apply.
I've been making rounds to my local Target and pilgrimages to other "nearby" Target to find the new origins Bumblebee. Every shelf where the transformers ought to be lays barren.
I have mixed feelings on my Buzzworthy Bumblebee. I get that it didn't knock it out of the park or have any sense of what it's actually trying to be.
Maybe it's the fact my kid dotes on it, but I have a shift spot in my heart for it. The only other Bumblebee I have is the Netflix version, which while I mostly like it... Parts forming and the coloration hinder what could have been an amazing figure.
Thank you for showing us the new Bumblebee with your one of a kind Wheeljack. Better late than never, I really appreciate it. Maybe next year we can get a companion Wheeljack, *fingers crossed*.

I am glad that they are starting to incorporate Masterpiece transformation engineering into the chug line though. I agree with cliffjumper.
I just wish they didn't try to change the Engineering. It would have been better to leave it alone.
It amuses me how much he beats up ER Cliffjumper and yet it still holds up. While it is bad, you have to give it credit for taking all the blows without breaking
It has lost a lot of paint though, and every time it does it winds up on my backdrop and I have to clean it.

For sure origins is the best, not just for all the valid reasons you mentioned, but - on a personal note - it just makes me happy that a figure is available that I thought I'd never see in my lifetime.

Omg poor cliffjumper, the pure abuse he received is worse than whatever Megatron could throw at Starscream.
They'd only kill him rather than what I do.
Personally I like seeing modernized updates on the designs. Cartoon accuracy's alright, but I just think a true to life Beetle looks better than a penny racer lookalike. Same with other characters, MP-10s more realistic truck mode I think looks better than the MP-45.
That's a perfectly valid reason to like something, but I judge everything on the same set of Criteria, to be objective as possible, and one of those criteria is Accuracy.

Tbh when I first saw Earthrise Cliff I thought that the bot mode was just Hasbro running the original bot mode through a TFP filter and shitting something out that wasn’t G1 Cliff because he would look too much like Bee

The reason Cliffjumper is praised is likely because titans return and classics is the only mainline we have to compare it to.

Ok P, I’m sorry but this is driving me nuts. The Cliffjumper rage needs to stop. It’s worth what they charged for it, I own legends figures and this is a massive step up not really in size but more so complexity. And to answer your claims about Hasbro just wanting to be different, that isn’t even close to right. The same man who made the MP 1.0 Bumblebee is the same man who made ER Cliffjumper so he was using his old ideas with a few chances. And when it comes to the backpack there are one of two reasons why they did that, 1. The biggest theory is that Hasbro didn’t want to spend the money to make the piece that wouldn’t do that robust enough; or 2. What I think is the actual reason, Hasbro listened to the people who don’t like backpacks too much and compromised to make the backpack optional. That’s honestly why I don’t think Hasbro needs to listen to anyone, especially the people who do nothing but complain about EVERYTHING!
I mean I do it less than I used to by a lot, but if he comes up I can't say the rage will have subsided, thats what I really feel about the figure.
I despise that thing, for not being worth my money. He was the first figure in the WFC to leave me with CRUSHING disappointment.
And I don't complain about EVERYTHING... Just most things.

Good of you to massacre ER Cliff this way. That toy is a pain to me; the partsforming backpack's peg is so stiff I always need a screwdriver every time I transform it. Not to mention the clashy transformation process.

I didn't say slightly it's a Heavy Retool, they changed all the sculpt and a little of the Transformation, but they started with the MP Bumblebee, and changed it to get what we have here.
By pure definition this is a retool.
I don’t expect, you do you, but I’d like to see a sequel to this, with more actual Bumblebees. I understand though if you don’t want to buy more Bees
I don't have too many others, so that's not possible right now, but I'm not Opposed to that.
IMO the reversed roof of ERjumper with the front window facing upward gives it an aesthetically pleasing look (regarding only the toy) so that he can literally look over and downward with his hidden neck hinge, more so than the faux back window on the bulbous chest of the MP. If it kept its orientation like the MP he could only look down at his flattop car roof backside. But at the greatest cost of partsforming.
Also, the Origins Bee jetpack perfectly fits ERjumper, which retroactively justifies the partsforming - not. A good car transformer with a roof kibble shield is when it's optional and can be kept on transformation (and ignored).

Anyways I’m surprised the quality of your videos were so good two years ago and this was a pleasure to watch(: though I’d put earthrise cliff a bit more in the middle. He had a lot of potential just messed up on a few bits so he’s staying in vehicle mode for me

MP Wheeljack follows your definition of a Bumblebee retool, so much that it's not even funny.
The wheels don't flip to the underside of the feet, it's legs are on sliders rather than just bent up, and the waist actually hinges from much further away, but yeah that is a bit concerning.

I was under the impression MPs 10 and after switched to prioritizing a slightly more stylized feel for accurate real-world vehicle modes, while some point after they switched back to animation accuracy before whatever the heck happened to modern MPs happened...

MP-01-MP9 (or so) cartoon accuracy but sorta fiddly.
MP10-28 almost a blend of MP and alternators. Highy realistic vehicle modes rather than toon accuracy.
Recent shift towards extreme toon accuracy but compromised transformations.
I think dr. Lockdown summarized it well as growing pains, golden age, funbow era, current era which he characterizes as an agonized scream.
A combination of you, crosshairs production and the threezero siege prime have made me start hunting for a siege prime

Got real lucky and found myself an Origins Bumblebee at Target last weekend. One fun thing I like to do for the back kibble though is that if you fold it DOWN, it makes it look like a little cape from the front! I always display him like this now as it clears up the silhouette from the front and a child-like bumblebee with a cape is just too precious.

Hasbro has only ever made like 3 Jazzes total, and I only have the two, and one of them is the POTP, and that just loses by default.

Holy crap, mp bee 1.0 is so small!! I never knew that, I always thought he was voyager size cuz of how big masterpiece scale is. It's personally doing it for me, I think I'll attempt to find a good ko of it. Core class bee is just getting dwarfed by my regular chug gang lol
Oh yeah, MP scale used to be weird back in the day, so Bee was more chug scale than anything.
Only thing i like about cliffjumper is how simple the transformation is. Wish they figured something out for the backpack but they wouldnt do that

That's cause I wrote that before I listened to the video you sent me to get it right, and I just wrote it based on my mental version of your name.
It doesn't help that your Icon is some kind of animal head that I always interpreted as a large cat, and it's black which is associated with death.

I picked black for the back rounde because it worked the best as an separating color in the backrounde.
Especially with white horns.
Speaking of the devil, the symbol was supoustu be a stylized Wolf head. Mixed with The Bull and Rhino. That's more or less the reson why he has horns, and the white spike right above his nose.
And as for the name, originally I was going for just "Detar". But since it was allready taken, I used the best souding (at least to me) name starting with D.
Also, since I like to draw, I added "Arts" to make it sound a bit more uniqe.

Imo the best is Origins Bee, does everything that every other Bee does, but better and is still unique and affordable.

Holy shit, you gave the shitty looking origins bumblebee a pass for not being accurate and being a reinterpretation, but not everything else that was doing the same. Masterpiece wasn't supposed to be 100% show accurate at first, have you seen mp-01? Masterpiece Soundwave? And the whole thing of earthrise was being modern toys of G1 characters, but they never tried to be completely show accurate because it's earthrise, not G1, it's a new toyline, same thing with titans return seaspray.

I didn't give it a pass, it only got a half point for being accurate to what it was trying to be, and not accurate to the Classic Interpritation.
And yes I am aware that the MP line wasn't trying to be show accurate when it came out, but the name has always had that implied weight to it.
It sure doesn't sound like it should mean realistic cars.
Space Wheeljack is gorgeous. But the alt modes are not that proportionate with one another. Bumblebee should be able to store inside Wheeljack. But for that to happen and have such accurate bot modes he'd have to achieve even better mass-shifting than MMC Blastoff or be huge. But that's the smallest of nitpicks.
Yeah and to be fair Wheeljack was a different size in every shot with his altmode. He really only gets bigger when Bumblebee climbs inside of him. I think they are pretty good next to each other in robot mode.
I had Classics Bumblebee when I was a kid, so Cliffjumper having a similar enough transformation made wonder how they made C. Bee but with partsforming and more expensive after several years.
Well it's the MP it's based on, so I don't know if it's similar to the Classics figure.

I wouldn't call it retool, I'd rather say it has same engineering. Retool is confusing and it leans to the impression there are shared molded parts.
No it doesn't. A retool can have all the tooling change, that's just a complete retooling. They took the Masterpiece Bumblebee and used it as a base, then they changed all the tooling. Some of it it less, some of it more. But they did not start from scratch, and they didn't just take this or that part, they took the whole thing and changed it.
That by definition is a Retool.
You know, seeing MP 1.0. Bee and how it compares to Cliffjumper, Buzzworthy Bee, and Seaspray really just emphasizes how much that transformation scheme was wasted by Earthrise’s designers. Maybe if they’d made Cliff slightly bigger and made him a direct copy of the transformation instead of trying to reinvent the wheel (adding partsforming) without understanding why it’s round (MP Bee is a clean bot in robot mode and doesn’t compromise anything for it).
That's been my argument the whole time. They should have just left it alone or done something completely new. People have been telling me for ever that I'm crazy. But who's laughing maniacally now?

I'm not really sure, honestly they are all pretty flawed.
So, a core class bumblebee. A bumblebee that is a version of him that was created soully to show cool transforming that finally got a figure even though that was never intended. A heavy retool of titans return Bee. A figure that was retooled/ recolored into bumblebee depending on which version you got, and an old figure that while not "in scale" is still such a good figure after all these years that the current WFC bee is based off it and is practically a nerfed version of it, which shows that it really did earn the titled of masterpiece of the time. Also if anyone says "mp bee version 1 proportions are bad" he was made around the same time as MP-10 who has gorilla proportions.

I'd say you need to get more Bumblebees, but you really don't. He has so many toys and most of them are mediocre, and only a few are awesome. The one that I highly recommend is the SS Off-Road Bumblebee because he's just such a breath of fresh air.

I know this may seem unrelated, but man ER Cliffjumper must be made of some really sturdy plastic if it's able to withstand you both mentally and physically hurting it and throwing it everywhere so much. Say what you want about the toy, it embodies the rough and unkillable spirit of Cliff pretty well
It has lost a LOT of paint though. And it pisses me off because it comes off on the light box, and I have to work really hard to scrub it off.
