I don't like the "G1-inification" of all these different characters, I expected this to happen going into the toyline since I felt like producing toys with all kinds of different body types and styles would be too much for Hasbro. I don't mind G1 styles and such but I feel like they made so many strange and bad choices with the Legacy toys, if this is the standard and we are this divided with just wave 1 I don't have much hope for this toyline overall, there might still be a few characters worth getting but for now this is just "meh" for me. Amazing review of the stream like always man.
Thank you very much. Here's the funny thing. I don't think they G1ified Arcee. Outside of giving her a nose what about her is more G1. Really she's quite accurate, they just botched the sculpt.
If it had the correct proportions it would be much better.

Also the faux wheels on Bulkhead’s back of the alt mode isn’t really faux forming, the real vehicle that it’s based on keeps wheels between the cab and tarp like that
So it has a huge chunk of kibble behind the head to mimic spare tires it didn't need.

@@PerspectiveEnd Well, it's more or less the same as Off Road Bumblebee in Studio Series, he also had a fake wheel behind his alt form. It's not inaccurate to the vehicle and not out of place.
Well, for my first transitional wave, it's not bad. It has a lot of characters i would have bought inflated prices for in the first place, and they'll work with my Siege figures. And hey, at least Arcee can only go up from the R.E.D. Design.

The only (non Armada Optimus) thing I want from Legacy is a Crossblades with functioning Pretender Shells, articulation, and a robotic Shell instead of a Human one.

Over a shield made out of cloth and a shield made of glass and metal the second one will be the better option.
To be fair a rock is a better weapon than a toothbrush it's not really a complement to say that.
Bulkhead's "faux" wheels are spare tires. Look at Age of Extinction Hound. That's where the spare tires are

Actually I think the Shoulder ones are the real ones and the Backpack ones with the pegs are the fake one's which begs the question, is why did they add egregious robot mode kibble, to mimic Vehiclemode kibble.
@@PerspectiveEnd Since this is SUPPOSED*** to be Prime Bulkhead, the wheels are supposed to mimic his robot mode wheels on his back.
***Yeah, no he's not. I was fine with most of Kingdom when they took liberties with the design because you can tell they still looked the spirit of the character even if it wasn't 100% accurate. Legacy Bulkhead looks NOTHING like Prime Bulkhead aside from the head. Even then, they ruined it by giving him a nose.
So essentially this “Legacy” is Hasbro’s take on MCU’s multiverse?
It would be so cool if they did some sort of crossover cartoon, comic or video game (please be a video game) to back up this line

Personally, I'm loving this line. The new packaging looks gorgeous except for the window. Yeah, "Prime inspired" Bulkhead is a bit dissapointinga and Prime Arcee is dissapointing. Personally, I like how Kickback looks, he looks great IMO. Skids, Dragstrip, and G2 Laser Prime looks great IMO. Anyway, great video.

Quick note: If you were confused about Kickback's swords, they're part of the energon weapon of the line. Prime and Arcee have axe-like blades, Bulk has a mini-gun, and skids has a gun-axe. Dunno why Dragstrip doesn't have one, but oh well. Of course, Kickback's weird swords go into that gimmick too. And they say the weapons combine later down the line into big arse super weapons but we have yet to see anything about that ofc
I did know about the Energon Weapon gimmick I just think they should have been more normal swords and not part of his bug wings.
@@PerspectiveEnd I mean, pretty sure that's just for storage. In Animation, the top sides of the wings are meant to be flat actually.
Being someone who grew up with prime, I definitely was excited to get some more accurate versions of them when we first heard of the line. However, I also was somebody who enjoyed the updated kingdom bots a lot, and was fully expecting legacy to be other universes changed to fit aesthetically with the WFC line. And honestly, I kinda really like it. I mean they already set this standard with kingdom so there really was no reason for people to be so surprised, especially because they did make alot of the beast wars characters more boxy (dinobot, rhinox, scorponok). Prime arcee has grown on me the more pics I’ve seen of it and I really like the bulkhead. New combiners is exciting and I’m hoping we get a good blend of G1 accuracy and updated design. Laser prime is the only one I haven’t preordered, and that’s mainly because I’m not sure I need another Optimus and would rather wait for a scourge repaint. Overall I’m optimistic for what comes and very curious if the leaks are true and we might be seeing a voyager Prime soundwave down the line
I don't think people should be surprised either but there are loads of people shocked that they changed the Design, and it's funny because they didn't with Arcee, they Just botched her sculpt. Otherwise it's the same Design with a Nose.

@@PerspectiveEnd yeah at some point I just laugh and try not to interact with people who keep complaining about the same thing, cause I’m sure we will hear this same discussion when knockout is revealed and any other characters that don’t easily fit the WFC aesthetic. I just think people should focus more on the individual design and not “oh no it isn’t accurate”. I’m assuming tarantulas will be just as good as blackarachnia with maybe the benefit of being a somewhat beefier character, but who knows with the realistic beast modes. The Optimus looks good but I have to think about display as well and, yeah, another Optimus isn’t what I’m needing lol
Definitely excited about the new Prime (and hopefully soon, Animated) figures. I wasn't expecting Generations-styled Prime characters but I think they look awesome, excited to try and complete the Prime cast since I was too young to get the majority of the old figures. Arcee looks great (Aside from the calf wheels.), Bulkhead looks awesome.
It's interesting to see all the Different Reactions from All Walks of life.
Three things:
1. I think Bulkhead's wheels at the top of his head could be considered spare wheels. (Hey, extra room for imagination. Like punctured tyres.)
2. To be fair to the Laser Prime, having the cab wind up on the back, was literally what the original G2 Laser Prime figure did. (I really want a version of this prime.)
3. You may complain about Cybertron Metroplex, but he's Scottish. That's got to be an instant buy right?

as someone who grew up with prime, I love bulkhead's design and I think it'll be retooled into tfp beast hunters prime. I think kickback looks quite cool with swords. I'd like Jackpot or Jazz, either version. Jazz is awesome and I also like action master characters getting vehicle modes.
I can see the Beast Hunters Prime comming out of that, that it would be weird of them to chose to make that again, we are kind of Over saturated on Primes right now.

Since this is my first time transitioning into a whole new line I’m pretty fascinated. Originally when hearing about Legacy I was worried I may not collect too much anymore since I assumed they would have faithful designs and my dumb brain thought it would clash a lot with my WFC figures, so part of me kinda likes them having a unified G1 aesthetic. I think the Bulkhead looks pretty cool, though definitely messed up Prime Arcee. Since I’m a new fan I don’t have any particular loyalty to any continuity, way back as a little kid what got me into TF was the first live action movie and a little bit of animated, I’ve learned a ton about the other shows this year so I’m interested in what figured will interest me further. Right now I have Bulkhead and Dragstrip on pre-order, even if he seems kinda lame may as well make Menasor my first combiner. Side note: Using that recent Target deal I managed to get Kingdom Rodimus for only $60 so I’m enjoying it a good bit, especially since I didn’t pay $80. Lol sorry for the essay PE, excited for the Discord!

And yeah that's an interesting and different perspective you have there. Most people tend to kind of reject a unified themeing.
I'm actually looking forward to the stunticons because I really want to have a combiner in my collection arcee if she turns out like that I can see a lot of third-party upgrade kits to fix her especially if she doesn't have her hand cannons

Man they have ruined the transformers Prime designs for me as they were such nice part of my childhood .They were so awesome but these figures have made them boxy which ain't transformers Prime designs which were quite sharp and intrequite. Bulkhead is a bit acceptable but Arcee hell no!!!!!!

G2 Road Rocket is coming as a Walmart exclusive and he uses that mold. In fact, it's probably his mold to begin with, and Arcee is a pretool.
The spinning partsforming wheel whacker is for Road Rocket, and the back kibble is from his design
Well that's IDW1 Lore, not most of the rest of the Franchise lore.

I'm actually insanely hyped for Skids, his colors and alt lode have always looked great to me. I've always loved transformers that turn into a regular looking vehicle just like the character Jolt did
I have never honestly seen a car like that on the Streets in the US, could be we find it too ugly, so it doesn't seem all that normal to me, but I do think over all the figure looks good and fun.
And yeah his colors are great.

I could have loved if they could have taken figure edition transformers Prime figures and retooled them a bit as those figures for their time are just phenomenal!!!

Liking all of what I'm seeing, save for Arcee. Definitely gonna consider picking up Bulkhead, Laser Prime, Drag Strip and Kickback since those four stood out to me the most. (Sorry, Skids!)

Not really into collecting, but that bulkhead actually looks pretty good, might actually get one.
Those wheels on bulkhead's shoulder aren't pho-forming, that's just where real military trucks store their spare tires, behind the cab. Honestly a pretty neat detail

These guys really make so many matrixes of leadership they can just start giving packets of them and nothing would change, like those lego mystery mini fig bags but with a matrix inside each one

Idk if it's just me, but I feel that Laser Prime REALLY shows the flaws of the leg proportions that Earthrise Prime somewhat got away with.
Well I always hated the ER Prime legs, they always looked this long to me but it's at least Vindicating that people finally are seeing what I was talking about.

I want to clear up somethings, laser optimus prime is supposed to foeform, it was always like that and the truck back pack is always supposed to be there and kickbacks wrist might be sword wilding ones, and blukheads cloth shield is gunna be like trail breakers back and kinda like buffers parts forming, and lastly, the mensour might have really thin combine ports that let you mix, match and slot in the stunicons. On scourge faux parts don't even seem like faux parts because of the color pallet but on laser optimus I think it's just lazy design. I mean we had great laser optimus toy way back that had it's windshield turn into chest windows

My main concern with the combiner is if the torsos are gonna be commander size with deluxe limbs the proportions might be off. Motormaster slaps cars on so it might fit for him but if hasbro does superion, Bruticus, etc it might look wonky like all the combiners have vehicles slapped on a solid colour plastic with toros.
Also the bulkhead canopy does appear to have a minicon style port on the side with peg on a square base so hopefully unicron trilogy figures come with minicons
Yeah I'm Really hoping figures like Bruticus goes with larger Deluxes so they fit better. Maybe even Voyagers.
My initial reaction to the reveals: Bulkhead looks like... it's suppose to be someone not Bulkhead. Laser Optimus looks like one of those little old guys who wears his pants up around his belly, the legs are too long. Kickback? Looks fine, no complaints there... and Dragstrip - well, I guess I'm on the hook for another set of Stunticons.
Oh, and I'm definitely feeling that Arcee is a pretool of Animated Prowl.

I am so incredibly hyped for a to scale Menasor like PotP Predaking and Unite Warriors Devastator (yes I said Unite Warriors because it is infinitely better than the Combiner Wars version)
I don't know if it will be in Scale with that. That's a Titan Class figure, and this is going to be maybe the size of a Large Commander.

First off, congrats on 5K! It’s well-earned, given that you’re one of the few reviewers here who actually gives your honest, raw opinion rather than just trying to justify why they spent $20+ on a figure that doesn’t look G1 accurate by insisting that “Earthrise Cliffjumper totally is guys, let’s pretend it doesn’t partsform okay”.
Second, I have thoughts on Legacy.
Skids: I’m honestly surprised this guy is getting so much hate; he looks fantastic for his size. He feels like a straggler from an alternate version of Earthrise where everything WASN’T compromised. Okay, his head flap is the exception, but other than that, I’d say he’s a winner in my book.
Bulkhead: looks decent. I’m not all that bothered by him not looking like his Prime or Animated version (because I consider this to be a retroactive G1 version of Bulk), but I feel the fans’ pain about him and Arcee not looking like their original versions. As you said, Perspective, this is identical to what happened with Kingdom forcing redesigns into the BW cast and it kinda sucks to see it in a line meant to celebrate the franchise’s history. Admittedly, I understand Hasbro’s rationale for GEEWUNing the Prime cast. Generations has a very G1 look to it, and forcing a rounded, chunky Bulkhead in would probably upset more fans who need things to match up with the rest of their collection than it would please fans of Prime.
Drag Strip: looks good on his own, but I’d rather Hasbro completely reinvent Menasor than release a derpy stretched out Motormaster who’s wearing his teammates as limbs. Rumors are suggesting that Menasor is going for the “car armor” look, and… uggh. Combiner Wars Menasor wasn’t great, but it at least TRIED to use all of the Stunticons’ mass to the combined form’s advantage.
Arcee: Looks alright. It’s definitely not great, but it’s a passable effort to transfer Prime Arcee into the Generations aesthetic. (Also wow your edits really emphasize how badly her proportions are messed up) Might buy her if she’s on sale or if Hasbro does a Flamewar retool
Kickback: I don’t care. The Insecticons have always been kinda nothing characters to me, so this guy’s an easy pass. His swords are neat, though
Laser Prime: at long last, the Earthrise legs look decent! The figure as a whole looks really fun. He’s got all the right Laser Optimus aspects (minus the art on his trailer) and what he does better than his mold basis, he does better. Definitely gonna pick him up.
For every Skids, Bulkhead or Laser Prime, there appears to be a really flawed figure like Arcee or Kickback to counter them. Then again, WFC had its fair share of duds, so I’m looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for Legacy.

I think this has its ups and downs. My thought with Bulk's extra wheels is that they're supposed to be spare tires or something, like details what whatever his alt-mode is based off of has. Kickback also looks pretty good for me. Yes, the transformation looks simplistic, but it was in G1 as well. Also the swords don't bug me (excuse the pun) because they go under the category of partsfprming that's not required. You still have a good bug without the swords attached. Arcee most definitely needs some work. The wheels hanging off of the sides and the strange "gun" are just lazy attempts of hiding the wheels. Everything else I really don't have much of an opinion on, those three I've mentioned are like the only ones I feel like I'd get. Also rumours of a TFP Soundwave for wave 2 have me much more excited.
What youtuber pointed out the Spare Tires? I'm going to kill them. Like 60 people at this point have mentioned them. The spare tires are not an excuse to have more kibble. If the choice is between adding kibble for spare tires then don't Add kibble.

Personally I’m really hyped for the line as we’re finally getting figures from other media other than G1. Sure the Prime figures may look different compared to their source material but I’ve slowly grown to like them. While the figures may not look perfect at least they’re a different take compared to the source material. Now I wonder how they will do the Pretender gimmicks as we’re getting Iguanus and Skullgrin
And I mean to be fair the Prime Versions were already Reinventions so why not reinvent them again.
For me the Bulkhead figure is disappointing... I'm not against giving old characters new designs.
But atleast make the new designs something unique... the Bulkhead looks like a generic G1 design with a Bulkhead head thrown onto it.
I'm excited for bulkhead. I see a thunderclaah, machine wars Optimus, road buster retools from this mold.
I don't see them doing Machine wars Optimus/Thunderclash out of that. Unless they redesign it so the chest opens.
I almost missed the Hasbro Pulsecon Legacy reveals, but I saw it, and love it. The Legacy poster looks cool. Great to see that Blaster is coming to Legacy. The Hot Rod and Skywarp, are like Iguanus, future core class figures, from leaked listing. Speaking of, I wonder how Hasbro will handle this Pretender character. Should be interesting. The packaging looks strange in its new shape box, but has cool artwork. What I don't like about it, is the opening with no plastic window. Thought it was a one time thing with that Buzzworthy Bumblebee origins figure, but nope. Like this energon weapon gimmick these figures have. Reminds me of the Transformers Energon toyline.
-Skids: I was wrong too about the JP93 mold, from that Jurassic Park crossover, foreshadowing its use to make Skids. That aside, Skids looks cool. Very G1 like.
-Dragstrip: He looks awesome, Do wonder how he will look with the combiner Menasor. Looking forward to the rest of the Stunticons
-Prime Universe Arcee and Bulkhead: I'm cool with them. Like this G1 style approach to these two. Makes me wonder how different the other Prime Universe characters, like the rumored listed Knock Out and Soundwave, will look like compared to their Prime show version. Anyways, Arcee design, I think it fine. But that front motorcycle wheel device, I don't like. Shouldn't have been a parts forming part. But looking forward to a possible Decepticon Flamewar from her, and maybe a Generations Selects G1 pink/white repaint. Bulkhead on the other hand, is awesome. Like this tall muscular look instead of his rounded bulky look from Animated and Prime. But I do wish his energon gatling gun was bigger. His truck canopy shield, looks better inside out rather than in the character render. Military vehicle mode does give me AOE Hound vibes, which I still think is cool.
-Kickback: He looks cool, very G1 like. Looking forward to the other Insecticons and possible repaints as other less known Insecticons.
-Laser Optimus Prime: Besides the legs issue, wish the ports on it would be fix too, I really like this G2 figure and looking forward to putting his box next to my Generations Selects G2 Megatron. His packaging looks great, but I wish it had a plastic window to see the figure inside. The figure itself looks great in both robot and oil truck mode. And like how it opens up into a base mode. I do wish his face around the eyes were painted, but his head sculpt is awesome.

The Wheels on the Back of Bulkhead are meant to be Spare tires found on the Truck Bulkhead dis based on a really nice detail that makes it look like the real truck :)
Oh man it hurts seeing comments like this again, now that I'm finally through the mountain of them blocking me from the old ones.
Prime Arcee is probably my favorite of the wave 1, followed by Laser Prime.

Despite the new Legacy Arcee’s flaws she still looks good, the new Laser Prime looks good as well.
Interesting she's probably the most Maligned figure of the wave so far.

With the exception of kickback I'm really looking forward to this wave!
But the closed boxes on leader figures makes me very concerned about figure swapping and bad qc.
I don't know if figure swapping is that much of a Concern. Maybe if you go to buy a figure you just open the box for your self and if it's been swapped you just tell an Employee.
Beyond the super fast audio (I had to slow it down to .75 to comprehend the “dialogue”) I like this video.

Bulkhead has grown on me. My only real complaint is that they market him as "Prime Universe Bulkhead" instead of calling him what he clearly is supposed to be: Bulkhead from an alternate G1 universe where Bulkhead WAS in G1. Because that way later down the line Legacy could do a proper Prime Universe Bulkhead that is a lot more in like with how they did Arcee and the two Bulkheads could meet. That way everyone is happy. But even then, it's not like the Prime designs need direct updating, those figures were so mind bogglingly good that any kind of update no matter what is going to be objectively worse than those original figures. Those figures came our during the "Prime" of Hasbro's engineering. Where an extremely faithful Movie Optimus Prime could be a voyager class figure with NO fake parts on it. It's not like G1, Beast Wars, or Armada where the toys lacked articulation, barely looked like the show models, or were bogged down by gimmicks.

First off, Bulkhead, you're already a walking bomb shelter, nothing short of the Nuke dropped on Japan is going to hurt you, WHY do you even need a shield!? Second, jesus Christ they're getting WORSE! First a shield that's mostly glass, then a shield that's made out of the roof of a van, now a fucking TARP!? You are shitting me, this has to be a fucking joke, where are the hidden cameras? Why not include an actual piece of cloth to give him a cool cape look that gives him a bit of a post apocaliptic desperado look? Maybe he comes from a Universe where the Decepticons successfully terraformed the Earth and he took on a new vehicle form. This would mean him seeing alt universe Arcee would be a bittersweet moment even as they were some of the closest characters in the show. OR just make that back part out of metal like the rest of his vehicle mode. This Bulkhead is a troop carrier so having a metal back part will still be accurate.
Lastly the wheels. I have a talen for figuring out how a figure transforms just by looking at it and YUP the wheels on the shoulders are indeed the front wheels. But the wheels on the back aren't fake parts. Bulkhead's vehicle mode is similar to AOE Hound, and military trucks of this type typically store the spare wheels on the back of the cab. Frankly the only thing here that doesn't make sense is WHERE'S THE EXHAUST PIPES!?
I always heard the Prime Arcee figures were terrible.
I do like how it inverts to be metal, you could say thats still cloth, but you can also view it as either cleaver weapons storage, or like another accessory. Like it's not supposed to be the tarp turned inside out.
That's about what I figured with the transformation my self, but the question I then have to ask is why did they give him a huge bracket of kibble behind his head just to be spare tires on the back?

Prime Bulkhead had wheels on his back like Knockout. That, and his head, are the only two things in the design that look like Prime Bulkhead.

As far as I know. Hotrod, Skywarp and Iguanus are going to be the first wave of Core class figures. So don't worry about them doing repaints or slight retools of the previous molds for Hotrod and Skywarp.

Bulkheads altmode is based off a British military vehicle with spare wheels similar to the altmode, I think I saw a photo of it in Twitter. Laser prime should’ve used those vestigial knee flaps as the knee pads if they weren’t gonna make new legs tbh. And that disk is based off the g2 toy disc launcher discs.

Ok. Gotta say it. With the Kingdom figures, they actually looked like the Beast Wars characters. You could cover the heads and grey out all of them and you would be able to immediately tell who each one is. You can't do that with Bulkhead. You can though with Arcee, but not with Bulkhead. And thats not to say you couldn't tweak the proportions or change the design language He's got the wrong vehicle mode, and almost none of the robot is trying to look like that version.
Here's what they should have done. Like with Arcee, do the vehicle he actually was. Then look at the robot mode and where the vehicle parts are going. For instance, Bulkhead's chest is made from the doors and hood covering the windshield. You can crunch that down to him just having the chest be just the hood, and you already have a way of doing that because it would look insanely similar to T30 Trailbreaker/hoist in how their torsos transform. to get the wheels on the back would just be another hinge swinging out, which could open up the front wheel wells for the shoulder to go in. Bulkhead also has really big freaking arms, so they can be formed from some of the back of the vehicle which will keep the legs from being overly buff. Then lastly Bulkhead has his rear wheels going into his ankles, but details like this are outside the G1 asthetic which would be either the wheels disappearing completely or just being stuck on the outside. Arcee has a similar ankel wheel situation and she puts hers on the side of her legs, so Bulkhead can also paste them there. And bam, a GeeWunified Prime Bulkhead design that would actually still look like that version of the character.

The funny thing is I kind of ended up really liking the bulkhead. A lot more than the Arcee, I actually really want that figure.
Here's the problem with that suggestion, what altmode?
Bulkhead was an APC in animated and just all regular sport utility vehicle in prime.
This is clearly trying to split the difference, and is also possibly it trying to fuse him out with the movie version of hound, who he has a lot more in common with in terms of personality than the actual Hound from G1.
This is a figure doing a ton, so it's a lot more complicated than just saying he should have been his altmode because there are three characters that could possibly mean.

Arcee. I don't get the hate. Yes, the thing about Prime Arcee was that she was a squat and slender bot, but if you haven't noticed for the last like 4 years whenever a G1 style female character has come out EVERYONE and their dogs grandma have been complaining that the body type created a shit ton of kibble. And looking at her they bulked up her design so thatless of the vehicle mode would feel like kibble, but all the details are still there so you know it's her. The only complaint I will give ground to is her arsenal. She's got the clear blue energon blades, and then a wheel crossbow? She's best known for having arm blades, so why is the arm blades made up to look like the extra weapons and the thing she never had is normal? And then no guns? Like not even one gun? Arcee's firepower prowess was distance and accuracy so not having a proper gun feels weird. But meh, some upgrade kit will giver her some accurate weapons like they did with Cheetor.
I would in no way to describe a Prime Arcee as squat.
I feel like this new Arcee has plenty of Kibble. From of the wheels on her legs to the gun that half the store on her back.

Bulkhead's wheels are actually accurate to today's tactical army trucks. There really are spares visible behind the cab.

Kickback's new blades is not his swords. It's Dark Energon shards. It's like a gimmic of this toyline, giving characters weapons out is different types of Energon across the multiverse. And this stupid axe from Laser Prime with bunch of portholes. Yep, that's part to combine different Energon weapons into some abomination.

My favorite part was when I called BS on the Tigatron Victory.
Kinda think a big part of the lack of excitement for this line comes from the fact that there aren’t as many true heavy hitters of previous lines, like siege had Prime and Megatron (and more), ER had Prime and Starscream, and Kingdom had the main leaders from beast wars, whereas the biggest characters from this are 1/5 of a combiner, a trio character without the rest of his team, a version of Prime that’s probably not top 5 in terms of popular primes, and other guys that aren’t cared much about
That's not the reason. People are excited for and buy toys of obscure characters all the time, and it isn't about having heavy hitters. Optimus, Megatron and Starscream I'm fairly sure are mandated to be in every line anyway, and all 3 of them are coming in Legacy from varying continuities. The lack of excitement just comes from a drop in figure quality and promise of multiverse figures not actually looking like their source material.
I do miss the big guys it definitely feels like we haven't gotten enough of them.
I mean this is what they said they were going to do from the start so people should have been prepared for these looking different.
And I don't know that there is a Truly Apparent drop in quality yet.

The clear plastic weapons is the legacy line’s gimmick. Kickback isn’t in SS 86, so he doesn’t have to be pure G1 accurate.

No they are wings, you peg them onto the top of his to make them part of the wings, they are meant to be wings, at least part of them.

Personally speaking, I think the analogy to Kingdom is slightly inaccurate. The beast modes are more realistic, yes, but but the beast modes are still all accurate. Prime Bulkhead has a completely different vehicle mode. If they wanted to do a more gritty/realistic version of the character like they did with the Kingdom figures, they could have done something similar to HFTD Lugnut and Lockdown and I don't think fans would have been that upset.
And Animated Bulkhead had an APC Altmode. Why is the Prime version the only one that seems to matter to everyone?

With Kickbacks weapons, they seem to be adding energon weapons that can combine, but for the bug mode, maybe it's supposed to be slashing effects since I can see details of an actual blade. Not to say it's good and done well, but that might be the intention. Knew that'd be the reaction for Prime's legs. My thing about the G1-ification was, I thought it was ok to a degree on the Beast Wars toys alt mode, since the CGI renders seem outdated compared to the real life animals, as long as their robot modes seem true to the original designs. They did a G1-ification with Barricade too, but I think the reason that worked was because Studio Series was also running at the same time, so it didn't feel as if it alienated that particular design. What's supposed to be the accurate off-shoot of the Prime Generations figures? R.E.D? Gross. I think Bulkhead can work since he never had a G1 toy to begin with, but Arcee just feels like she didn't need it, nor does it feel like it's an upgrade of anything at least. Even taking out the idea this is a different take, it just feels like they brought it down more than anything.

Something nobody seems to be talking about are the old minicon pegs that are on some of the figures such as bulkhead

I think those are just supposed to peg in 5 Mil ports but you do seem to be right.
I feel like the designers should've taken more notes from the Bumblebee movie studio series figures, as those designs and figures have done a far better at meshing a unique aesthetic with G1 to the point that they can fit in both a generations display and a movie display.
Personally, I like Bulkhead, though I wish there was more linking him to his animated or prime looks than just the head and weapon (which tbf are both great). Like maybe they could've put some back armour to resemble the animated look or make his shape overall a bit more chunky. It has the same issue as AOE Hound for me, where he looks too athletic for a more rotund character.
I do love the new Skids, who is overdue for a comeback imo.
But with the release of this line, my fingers are crossed for some Prime reissues, they did it for beast wars so you never know...

Laser Prime. The vehicle mode doesn't look like complete garbage so that alone puts it over Earthrise. The opening hands on the ER Prime also looked tiny and pathetic and just didnt look good with the fingers open So a gap in the hand to slot Matrix #8 in is fine. Proportions do actually look better thanks to the longer arms going down to his mid thighs to actually balance out the lankiness of the legs, and also helped by how his shoulders go equally as far up. And the trailer actually does all the shit it's supposed to do. Granted the laser trailer did less than his regular one so me being more happy about this is mainly due to having lower standards but the fact remains that I am much happier with this than ER Prime. If I am to give some criticism it's that the vehicle mode feels too long and you can see the arms on the back of the cab. The solution would have been to add a sleeper cab and move the trailer port back but thats just really a suggestion.
I hope this one will be good it, but I am really worried about that backpack.
@@PerspectiveEnd I mean that's just kind of how it is for this design. This design was put to Animation as Scourge in RiD'01 and it was there so... Accuracy I guess. Frankly a figure having a backpack doesn't bother me. Transformers with minimalized back kibble are rare.
Buuuuttt on the other hand... Hunt for the Decepticons Lazer Optimus did have that actual cab form his chest and had they forgone the matrix chamber on this they could have done that again.

G2 lazer prime looks nice. and if I am correct bulkhead's truck mode is the only transformers toy that transform into a military supply truck. which is nice because we need more supply truck transformers.
Yeah there aren't a lot of Freight Carriers other than Optimus and Ultra Magnus.
I feel people need to lay off bulkhead and skids because their not that bad, sure bulkhead isn't the prime mold and I'm a little sad about that but A; do we really want to have the whole generations line do the same thing just with a different era, and B; this way it can actually fit in the generations line since the abstract designs won't stand out as much, also it fixes its proportions. for skids why are some people complaining, its literally g1 but boxier and it looks better, the round vehicle mode just made it look boring and with now cubed out and more angled it actually looks good, honestly this line is doing something different where instead of just bringing back old character designs their tweaking them not only to fit into generations but also giving it a new take and this direction should be respected more since we haven't anything like this before, I 'm not saying people are wrong for hating it I'm just saying that its not as bad as people say it is
Honestly the more I looked at bulkhead of the more I like it. He's probably the figure I'm most excited for in the first wave.
