  • Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot is relatable and resonating and its language possesses gravity, intensity, and conciseness.
Two tramps are perpetually waiting by a sickly looking tree for the arrival of Godot. While waiting they discuss their lives, quarrel and then make up, contemplate suicide, try to sleep, eat a carrot and gnaw on chicken bones.
Two other characters appear, a master named Pozzo and his slave; Lucky, who perform a grotesque scene in the middle of the play. A young boy arrives to say that Godot will not come today, but that he will come tomorrow. He does not come and the two tramps resume their vigil by the tree, which between the first and second day has sprouted a few leaves, the only symbol of a possible order in a thoroughly alienated world.
The two tramps of Beckett, in their total disposition and in their antics with hats and tight shoes, are reminiscent of Chaplin and the American burlesque comedy team, whereas Pozzo and Lucky are half vaudeville characters and half marionettes. The purely comic aspect of the play involves traditional routines that come from the entire history of farce, from the Romans and the Italians, and the red-nosed clown of the modern circus.
The play has its own beauty and suggestiveness, and it makes its own comment on man's absurd hope and his absurd insignificance.
Design & Directed by Mohit Tripathi

u can follow the Oxford published book WAITING FOR GOTOD... U can say in one word WAITING FOR GOTOD is nothing but a hope, that when God will come and he will make understand us that what is the main aim of our life, our life is rational or irrational??? But in text Beckett didn't say particularly who is Godot is he really a God or a person?? That's why in short we can say WFG is nothing but a hope.... Like in this pandemic we are waiting when corona would be finished and everything comes to good and healthy this same things are done by Vladimir and Estragon they are waiting for GOTOD and godot will come for them,, remember Vladimir and Estragon are examples of whole people ( khas kr jo log khaali baithe hue h 'they only eat sleep and repeat' dharti chhorne k baad 4-5 logo n yaad hi nhi kiya to fir kesa jina) this entire things Beckett wanted to explain

end lines me optimism nikal he gaya....i think samuel beckett not tryin g convey any kind of msg that you put on the last lines, i think he is trying to show the just absurd nature of our life, the meaninglessness of it.

Interesting. I wonder how speakers of Hindi (or is it another language from India such as Punjabi?) interpret the dialogue and message of this play. People who speak English, and who were alive when the play was first published and staged couldn't agree what it meant. Can any speaker of the language in the video, who is familiar with the culture of India, tell me how it is perceived in Indian culture?

Superbly performed, especially Gogo and Didi rocked 🔥 direction could have been better, background music and lighting were fantastic, set was also good enough, but I felt changes in set could be done... anyway once again I appreciate the two actors who portrayed Didi and Gogo were outstanding ❤️🔥🎭 God bless you all.
