p320 conversion kits (choice of: caliber .45, .40, 9mm, .357sig, slide and frame in full, carry, compact, and subcompact) are around $230 at the Pro Shop in Epping NH
Thank you hickok45. Always been a fan of both guns. I have a USP .45 myself and ordered the VP9 recently. I am looking forward to shooting that beauty.
I got my VP9 a few months ago and I have to say that the only thing I don't absolutely love about it is the price ($700 out the door hurts, but it's worth it, to me). It's beautifully made, feels excellent in the hand, and shoots like a dream. Reliable and good-looking at the same time is a match made in heaven. The only thing I'm going to change on mine is putting some Kryptek pattern tan Cerakote in a few places.
I have carried the VP9 since September, and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed by this gun. For me, the ergonomics on the VP9 beat any other gun I've handled, and the trigger is simply a work of art. Now... I have not had a chance to shoot the P320, but I will say the trigger on dry fire is also a work of art. No question, the top three striker fire triggers in my opinion are the VP9, P320 and PPQ. All are superb, and far superior to every other factory striker fire trigger offered. The ONLY issue I have with the P320 at present is the grip. It's a little fat for my smaller hands, but outside that, it certainly feels like standard Sig quality. That said, having put a couple thousand rounds through my VP9, I'm sticking with it. If you have not shot one, you owe it to yourself to do so. Nothing will beat Glock in the market for a long time to come, but let there be no doubt these two guns will certainly carve their own niche in this market. I got my VP9 with the LE package (night sights and three mags) for $699, and the standard gun runs $599. The P320 runs $525. Great guns!
Love this comparison! I have a VP9 for my competition (light. Non professional. Just a range group) and I love it. But I’ve had my eye on the 320 lately. 😁
I have a 320C in 9mm, and you are right to change calibers runs about $400. but if you want to stipple your grips, and mess it up, it's only $40 or so to get a new grip. I've considered getting the .357 SIG caliber change kit, but not sure I would gain too much.
As you recommended, tried both. The Sig P320 fit and felt the best. Great firearms the differences to me are in the grip. Trigger seemed better as well. Thanks for the great videos!
My 1st Sig was a 229. I took a P250 in trade and loved it except the 3 mile long double action trigger. Couldn't wait until the P320 to come out & I've been carrying a STOCK P320 Compact every since. Both are fine pistols but I can't find 1 thing that I would change with the Sig straight out of the box. I started with the P320 Compact (15+1) & added a Full size conversion kit (17+1). Have been thinking about adding a Carry frame which ends up giving me 3 different versions for less than the cost of 2 pistols.
@@patrickfearon7942 it means that you hold your aligned sights just a bit below the spot you want to hit. So you can keep a clear picture of your target as opposed to covering your target with your sight.
I've had both for several years now and the VP9SK I have is the most accurate handgun I own, probably due to the sights being easier to see with my old eyes. I quit shooting the P320 Carry for a while until I recently upgraded it with the Sig Pro Cut slide and AXG gripe module. The bright green front X ray night sights on the Pro Cut slide are much easier to see in the daylight so I can now shoot it almost as accurately as the VP9SK. A big advantage of the P320 is the ability to upgrade everything if you don't mind spending the extra money. The upgrades turn it into a completely different gun.
Both sig p320 and VP9 and very good hand guns. Personally my consistency and accuracy are better with the VP9. Shot both at the range on the same day. Became an instant fan of the VP9. The sigp320 is neck and neck with the VP9 in a lot of ways, imo. The accuracy on the VP9 is the difference maker for me.
I'm a new potential gun owner. Been window shopping, taking intro classes and firing a few rounds (100 total to date). My final four after looking at over a dozen (and researching them all) were the Glock17, S&W M&P9, the Sig p320 and the H&K VP9. The Sig and the H&K made my final two after firing today. I like both in how they feel and handle. What may swing me is the ambidextrious mag release on the H&K as my wife is a southpaw. Going back for another class this weekend, want to shoot both one more time and then decide.
You have to note the HK vp9 has a European style paddle mag release. Many shooters including the most experienced are thrown off by this configuration when they first pick up an HK since they're mostly used to the american button press. If you buy a sig, the reloading learning curve would not be as significant as lets say the HK when you begin training on another platform (glock, M&P). Going from button press to another button press is easy. Going from paddle switch to button press and vice versa can be challenging. So take that into consideration when you're choosing between the p320 and VP9.
Thanks for that info. I hadn't thought about retraining on a weapon down the line. I was thinking about the initial learning where it wouldn't be a big deal since it would be the "initial" learning curve for me anyway.
+RaginCajun 77346 Which brings me to another point. Both systems have their pros and cons. The pros for having a button press is quick learning curve on other platforms since there's so many on the market with the same setup. The main con is how easy it is to activate, either when gripping the gun or simply laying it on some surfaces. I believe the biggest advantage the paddle mag release has over the button is how easy it is to locate and activate while still being in a secure area to make accidental ejections near impossible. I can also see new shooters with no experience in either setup being a lot more proficient with the paddle. The cons, it can break under high stress, unlike the button setup. And as I said before, can be challenging to switch between 80% of pistol's button press and the European paddle switch. Sorry for the long comment but I hope this helps.
VΛRZ well these were my final two. Another training class today and then 100 rounds through each option. Liked both a lot. Solid trigger feel on both. On target was a slight edge to the H&K. Decided to go with the VP9 in the LE model as it just felt a bit better than the Sig and then the edge in accuracy; again very close. Would have been very happy with the Sig but really happy with my choice.
My VP9 is by FAR the best pistol I've ever had the pleasure of firing. It's actually comfortable to grip while firing. And it's a tack driver. I've fired a LOT of pistols throughout my professional and personal lives and, barring tricked out race guns, the VP9 is the best. I've outshot competition guns, including the Sig P320 x5 Legion, with an out of the box configuration on my HK. I was even going to be getting an X5 legion this month to get into competition. I decided to just get the VP9 match slide kit instead. Why not just stick with perfection!
Finally found myself a WLAN to follow up on my subscriptions, 6 hours by plane away from home! I enjoy your channel, Hickok and son! Keep on the good work!
Never shot the VP9 but I have a 9mm P320 carry model and man oh man is it an awesome shooter. The trigger is so good on the P320. When new it is a bit heavy but after a few hundred rounds the trigger on mine is very very nice. Shooting the P320 so much is making me shoot my Glocks worse!! Never had issues with my G19 and G43 until I started getting used to the awesome trigger on my P320. The only drawback is it is a little bigger than my G19 especially since I got the carry and not the compact but all that BS about bore axis is a joke. The P320 to me shoots softer than my G19 which has a much lower bore axis. I wish Sig could have found a way to lower the bore for size purposes but other than that Sig did a good job on the P320.
Went with the HK VP 9 which I’m very happy with. Also almost went with sig for my carry but decided to go smith & Wesson which I feel better about. I watched his comparison video with the p365xl where the striking pin failed to prime the first round, that would be a bad day in a tight situation.
15 rounds is for reliability. I have some used magazines for P30L (same magazines as a VP9) and they must have more than 30000 rounds from previous owner and I shoot another 10000 with them without any single issue. And the springs are still original. So that´s why HK put 15 not 17 or 18 like others.
MKabarCZ Could be. Of course, they could have gotten some advice from Glock as to how to make a reliable 17-rd magazine. Even for people who do not like Glocks, it's pretty impressive how they've come up with magazines that just work every time.
MKabarCZ At least P320 gives the option. Either use 17 round capacity, or under-load to 16 or 15 rounds. Armourer can put a magazine block in if really necessary.
Waiting period?? Dude you're in a baaaaad state. Tennessee background check 2 minutes and 45 seconds then..Thank you for your purchase (hands me the gun). Have a fun day!!
Thanks for sharing hickok45. I personally would prefer the VP 9 because of it's size and it appears to be a better shooter to me. I'm not a real big fan of the 9mm except as a compact carry gun. I'd be nice to have the VP9 in a .40 cal. My favorite is the Glock 23. It's a great shooter.
Hickok I traded my fullsize P320 for the compact/carry 15+1 this weekend. Put 150rds through it and function just fine. Main thing I noticed it don't feel as muzzle heavy and had less felt recoil muzzle flip. Probably due to the beefy built dual coil recoil spring setup. It's right in the G19 size you like.
I own and have close to a thousand rounds on each of the VP9, P320 Carry and Glock 19. While they are all great shooters, I'm not a fan of the Sig night sights and I do get the finger pinch as well if I don't wear a band aid. I love to shoot these guns on the range but I carry either a G26 or G27. Great analysis, Mr. Hickok. I could not agree with you more.
Fun video on someone who loves Glock guns and still appreciating engineering on other models. I have small hands and that impacts what models feel good to me. I suspect having huge hands like Hickok45 has the opposite problem. Comfort while shooting allows concentration and accuracy. Having one bang your finger so badly you consider a band-aid might not be fun for a large handed person. I would also consider a carry duty gun to be something shot with gloves in the winter. Comfort does mean a lot. The truly wise thing said in this video was try one out before buying it.
I know this is an old video in, but I recently purchased a sig p320, and it handles excellent. Then I went to the store and picked up the vp9, and I tell ya, the vp9 fits perfectly Into the hand, now I'm gonna get one of those to. I've tried glocks before, wasnt really impressed by them. Also, I'm gonna get a CZ as well. It's an expensive habit this firearm business, but fun.
I'm sure someone pointed this out or it may be known but that trigger on that P320 is outdated and has a risk of being fired if dropped. Sig updated this trigger to a more slender trigger and fixed the issue.
what's the distance to the gong? this gentleman makes it look easy to shoot the gong with a pistol. I heard from people that it is really hard for the gun to be precise on long distance. Either the guys I talked are horrible shooters and they work in police and army or hickok45 is a genius...
PPQ has them both covered for my money, but it's a great time to be alive and a shooting enthusiast. So many quality firearms out there, can't hardly go wrong with any of them.
+moparedtn Update: I'm now also the proud owner of the Sig P320! The PPQ and the Sig are amazingly close in trigger and fun to shoot. Can't pick between them.
i own both. the only issue for the VP9 is that accessories and mags pretty much HAVE to be bought online. Sig i can go to most local stores and buy anything i need from there generally
Just got more into .45 acp picked up a sig 1911max and hk usp . Both very very nice but the hk is more of a combat/defense gun , whereas the sig max is tailored for competition shooting out of the box . If the magwell were removable on the 1911 max it would be my go to 100% but as it stands my usp is my favorite .45 right now , very nice round capacity for a 45. Instead of the 8+1 in the max . I also own the compact p320 and sub compact p365. The p365 is my daily driver .
I had both. I kept the VP9 for target shooting and traded the 320 Carry for the venerable Glock 19 as a carry pistol. The P320 was just way too big, fat, and heavy for a polymer pistol. May as well just buy a P229. Not to mention Sig parts are expensive and never available. Sig should come out with the exchange kits before the next decade begins (hopefully) for you Sig people.

Nice shooting Hickok! You always tell it like it is. Makes you’r tests worth watching. Now my
handeling of the H&K VP9 is a must. Thanks for this video.
I just got my sig p320c carry, love it! , your spot on about the night sights they are kinda hard to pick up, at least during the day. thanks for the fun video:)
p320 conversion kits (choice of: caliber .45, .40, 9mm, .357sig, slide and frame in full, carry, compact, and subcompact) are around $230 at the Pro Shop in Epping NH
I believe John Browning came back from the grave and made one last gun, the vp9
Thank you hickok45. Always been a fan of both guns. I have a USP .45 myself and ordered the VP9 recently. I am looking forward to shooting that beauty.
H&K all day, now with 17 rd mags.
Great guns!
sig offers 3 or 4 different grip/frame sizes for the p320......not sure if they are all on the market yet
I agree with everything you said. I own both the vp9 and p320. The vp9 is the winner for me.
I got a VP9 last week. My very first firearm. Haven’t taken it to the range yet. I love how it feels in the 🤚🏾
I have mines over 2 years now and I can’t say anything bad about it. It was my first “legal” gun, if you know what I mean.
Love this comparison! I have a VP9 for my competition (light. Non professional. Just a range group) and I love it. But I’ve had my eye on the 320 lately. 😁
I had a ruger American, sig p320, and the the vp9. Went with the vp9. So glad I did. Better ergo's better trigger, better sights. Love the vp9.
Totally incredible shooting! Man, you are totally awesome!! Thank-you for all you do. God bless you and yours.
Newer P320s have a target or combat hold, instead for the 6 o'clock hold
I definitely prefer the 6 o'clock hold.
@@codyallen2838 I'm new to this. What does 6 o'clock hold mean?
I flat out love my VP9!
My G19 is my 2nd love.
Thanks
Think my 19 is alittle more dependable than my Vp9, with that being said I carry my 320c and hide my Glock 43 as back up.
I don't carry vp9 because it's to pretty, I carry the 320 because I don't care about scratches and holster wear. Frames are $50 all day
Bought a P320 compact today for $499 new. Haven’t used it yet but love the way it looks and feels and how easy is to take it apart.
Hi, thanks for all the videos, Keep up the good work, today to me, It seems your shooting the HK much more accurately.
HK VP9 vs Sig P320 vid wouldn't be complete w/out a Glock to compare to... lol.
Love you, Hickok.
have both love both. glock 19 battleworn nibx is what i carry
My p320 allowed me to switch the mag release to the left side. That's why I bought it. Well, that and it's an awesome shooter.
I'd like to see fullsteel versions of the walther PPQ and those two guns.
its no law that strikerfired guns must have frames made out of polymere
I agree. A full steel 320 would be insane.
your avatar is insane .. that is :D
That's when I was sexy. I've lost weight since then.
bummer
My VP9 is by FAR the best pistol I've ever had the pleasure of firing. It's actually comfortable to grip while firing. And it's a tack driver. I've fired a LOT of pistols throughout my professional and personal lives and, barring tricked out race guns, the VP9 is the best. I've outshot competition guns, including the Sig P320 x5 Legion, with an out of the box configuration on my HK. I was even going to be getting an X5 legion this month to get into competition. I decided to just get the VP9 match slide kit instead. Why not just stick with perfection!
I carry my VP9 IWB and it feels very comfortable. It shoots phenomenal. I like it!
Same here
I agree
You may like the VP9SK, I AIWB it in a Tulster and I hardly print and like it a lot.
Finally found myself a WLAN to follow up on my subscriptions, 6 hours by plane away from home! I enjoy your channel, Hickok and son! Keep on the good work!
VP9 in my opinion. Especially if you're going to carry it. But you can't go wrong with either...
I bought the P320 because I heard H&K customer service sucks. That was from a gun shop owner. Both pistols are awesome!
I have a Sig P320 and the HK VP9SK, love them both, great shooters, I carry the small VP every day.
Small ? It's as big as a 19. Lmao
Savings costs from machination and development. Same reason why the .45 and 10mm Glocks are exactly the same size.
MKabarCZ At least P320 gives the option. Either use 17 round capacity, or under-load to 16 or 15 rounds. Armourer can put a magazine block in if really necessary.
hickok45 the 15 round capacity in my VP9 is the ONLY knock on it. And yes that’s annoying. But maaaaan is that a nice gun to shoot.
Seeing your thoughts on the VP9, I can't wait until mine comes in after the waiting period is over. Thanks for your videos, I thoroughly enjoy them!
Waiting period?? Dude you're in a baaaaad state. Tennessee background check 2 minutes and 45 seconds then..Thank you for your purchase (hands me the gun). Have a fun day!!
I've heard good things about the VP9, likewise I have also heard good things about the P320.
Looks like an interesting video.
Vp 40 it's identical
Also theres a 45
If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the P320 because it's more modular. Hopefully, Sig will eventually make a threaded barrel for it.
My solution to the conundrum of which one to get? Grabbed both. Sig in 9mm and the HK IN .40; Both are phenomenal.
Price update on the SIG P320. Purchased in Texas 1/12/17 for $525 new
Hi, where did you get it?
Online or in store?
mobilesuitderka I got the p320 full size. 2 17 round magazines. Holster. Night sights. Upgraded trigger. $606.00. Love it.
It's to the point I would never sell my G19 but now that I also have the VP9 the G19 stays in the safe
I just got the vp9 Le model with HK night sights 3 mags in fde with 4 free mags from HK for 607 out the door in good old Arizona
Would like to see both compared to Walther PPQ M2
Me too. It's funny how we can be dead set on a gun (was PPQ for me) ... then totally like "I'm just going to have to buy every gun ever made."
I wanna see ppq vs them as well
I know this is an old video in, but I recently purchased a sig p320, and it handles excellent.
The vp9 has taken over my g19 as edc. I love shooting that one Alittle more
I'm sure someone pointed this out or it may be known but that trigger on that P320 is outdated and has a risk of being fired if dropped.
He’s mentioned in other videos that the gong is 80 yds
PPQ has them both covered for my money, but it's a great time to be alive and a shooting enthusiast. So many quality firearms out there, can't hardly go wrong with any of them.
+moparedtn Update: I'm now also the proud owner of the Sig P320! The PPQ and the Sig are amazingly close in trigger and fun to shoot. Can't pick between them.
Sig p320 is definitely what I like the best overall
Bought a P320 Compact today. It shoots great and having that Sig quality is always a good thing! Thanks for the video!
man , Hickok is a great shot !
He should be probably been shooting since 1908 lol
i own both. the only issue for the VP9 is that accessories and mags pretty much HAVE to be bought online. Sig i can go to most local stores and buy anything i need from there generally
Own a VP9, love it to death, but those Sigs have been calling my name lately.
The 365 is nice, imo better then the VP9 SK ... Still love my VP9 but it's a tad big for me to carry.
Love my HK vp9! I carry it sometimes at 4:30. Wonderful shooter!
I had both. I kept the VP9 for target shooting and traded the 320 Carry for the venerable Glock 19 as a carry pistol. The P320 was just way too big, fat, and heavy for a polymer pistol. May as well just buy a P229. Not to mention Sig parts are expensive and never available. Sig should come out with the exchange kits before the next decade begins (hopefully) for you Sig people.
do i sense favoritism to the vp9?
It’s close between the VP9SK and the 226 Legion. Striker fired only the HK wins easily over the 320.
VP9 is coming out in a compact size. Just announced.
Much needed!
I always watch Hickock45 videos to help me decide my next gun
HK VP9 is more comfortable to hold IMO
These were a couple top picks for me. I went with the VP9 and i have 0 regrets
