Re-started this game on PS4. Virginia Maxwell is best girl. And didn't need any fanservice to do it.

But it's nice to see other real good female lead character. Virginia is indeed a really good héroïne and main character.
In modern j-rpg, I must say that Ryza from Atelier Ryza surprised me. I was afraid that she was a classic female airhead lead character but she grow and mature naturally as the story goes on. Like Estelle (I really thought that I wouldn't like Estelle but she grow during the game and she isn't the same character AT the end of titsfc than she was AT the beginning, and I won't mention second chapter where she really is pretty epic).
When you're that fast and your critical chance is already that high, of course you're Boss as fuck. With the right gun tweaks, you can basically turn her into a fast moving powerhouse.
I love this game.

It's very, very rare for a dubbed song to sound better than the Japanese version. Or for a dubbed song to sound good at all, for that matter. This is one of those gems.
ninjamitsuki Actually this song is nothing special, Compared to Lunar songs. And it's way worse than openings in previous Wild Arms games.

FUNimation did a really good job dubbing most the songs from One Piece, though I will admit it is rare. Not so much a good song dub, but a dub of a Japanese song in general as most studios are unwilling to put in the work to make it happen. I'm actually surprised this game got a song dub (which is fantastic though).
This vocalist is great. The wild arms 4 one...not so much.
The part where she says “my shield is strong” always gets me pumped
Also the "safe and warm" part, holy hell that one just hits 1000% right!

This singer, Samantha Newark, REALLY puts all her heart and soul into this song and goes all out, it's what makes it so damn good and special.
She's truly outrageous
Yeah, you can definitely tell she went hard on it. This was not just some casual gig, she made it her moment in life to sing it. Some people just have that much investment in their work.

You know i just noticed something watching this again the other night, most anime openings that show the characters on a hill staring into the distance just usually end on that shot but virgina's crew decide to just go down it instead XD

Its not just an overwhelmingly good track, it captures the very essence of the game while at the same time being spot on with the screenplay. I remember how the intro changes over and over again, depending on where you are story-wise! It even switches over to the japanese version and an instrumental version... I really dont know why this isnt a thing in 2023 anymore.
Wild Arms 1 and 3 were my favorite of the series. The feels.

The vocal performance gets me every fucking time. Every single time. It's a masterclass in a powerful emotional delivery, even if it isn't technically pretty.
I STILL remember loading in at some point and realizing the intro was DIFFERENT. To this day I don’t skip the intro...EVER.
Best party out of all the Wild Arms games IMO. Loved these 4 desperado's.

In all my years, I have never noticed that in every shot with Jet and the crew except for one, he either has a giant gap with the other members or is standing in the very back. Love the attention to detail.

One of these I'll go back and play this game. I got a Blockbuster rental copy when I was probably 8-10 years old; I re-rented it a few times and got to the part where the group finally unites and you can go across the world map with them... but I didn't play it for months and forgot where I was supposed to go.
Still, listening to this song is opening. I always remember that Clive was a badass, and Jet was my favorite because he resembled Cloud Strife. Looking back now, Virginia was one BAMF.

One of the most underrated games out there in my opinion, absolute underground classic. Had a great female protagonist that didn't need to be objectified to sell the game, and was a fun adventure all the way through.
Also a native American that wasn't a joke or some mystical guru. He was a dude running from traditional life trying to find his own path and his own way. Resonated pretty hard with me as a young rez indian. I bet they didn't understand but it sure was cool to see as a kid
This game is one of my favs growing up. This intro hits so hard made loading up the game feel so epic.
This theme gives me such a boost when I'm feeling down. I feel like life beats me down but then I remember this theme.
I love this Wild Arms Series, Breath Of Fire , Final Fantasy, Dragon quest, Secret of Mana and so on and on. Man I sure miss old day rpg. Graphic was cute but it's the characters , story and music that make rpg so wonderful. I like nowaday open world rpg but it's not the same.

And the hate for turn based rpgs too, I don't really think turn based are no skills, they do need skills when you fight a hard opponent, or when you need to conserve mps or stuff like that. But peopke nowadays just say turn based are lame, when they really aren't.

This song translated to English very well, and was performed beautifully. It was done in such a way that I didn't get that "oh…this was translated from Japanese to English and the words just don't flow right" kinda feeling. I (* guiltily looks around *) usually prefer the Japanese version for that very reason…but in this case definitely not!!
Have to agree completely. This is the one song that I seem to keep coming across the jp version and I’m like....eeeh....w-where’s the English one?
It's not the Japanese dub, but it's a goddess coming down on us to give us a beautiful song and it gets more poignant over time. SO goddamn beautiful.

Best rpg i EVER played. So inspirational. Best intro too.....its a shame we never see a sequel. A shame.

Max's story Arc and New kid's story Arc Act 5th New kid's story, Matoro's Legacy Ignition Saga Act 1 - Haos Contestir.
Easily the best of the Wild ARMS games and a fantastic opener to boot. I wish the rest of the series had utilized the wild west theme as well as 3 did. Not to mention Virginia was arguably the best of the lead characters (she was the first to not be a silent protagonist for one thing) and she had a fucking revolver, which should be the standard for the lead in a wild west style story (I think the lead in 4 had a fucking laser gun for some reason).
+T-Wrecks the Nerdasaur Ashley wasn't silent, but yeah, Virginia is great.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Rudy, but I agree Virginia probably was the best MC in the franchise. If not one of the best female protagonists around anywhere. She is so real, and so believable. And adorable AF too. :) I love her.

It will always be there for you, whenever you're feeling down, find a PS2 and grab a copy from a local game shop. Or get a PS3/4 and download it from the PSN, and boot it up, and adventure across the land of Filgaia again, the sand whipping in the wind, as you and your three seemingly random companions, including criminals and con-artists, investigate not only the ruins of the world, but search for meaning in this decaying waste, culminating in one of the best final bosses of the era, as well as one of the most meta/philosophical endings I think gaming has ever done.

As you can imagine, yes, there is a plot-changing battle with Janus by the end of the first chapter.
Rule #5 of old JRPGs: there's almost always a griefer, someone who always gets in the way of the heroes' journey. A rival, if you will (e.g. Zagi from Tales of Vesperia, Jr. Koopa from Paper Mario, Magnus Von Grapple from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)

Great Song, Great RPG (one of the best i have ever played) ... BUT this is not the 1st Intro of this game... the Video is the same, but the 1st intro was without any vocals. ... There was "whistling" instead. (To hear that (very cool) version of the Song, save the game during one of the four "Intros" of the game and then load that save game)

I loved this game. I miss the series. And this was (to me) the best of the series easily.
This was probably my favorite one of the series.. its a tie between this and 2. I always liked the song. lol
A thing to note: occasionally, the Japanese version with Kaori Asoh singing the opening loads. It's not known what causes it to happen, but it's awesome nonetheless. Not that the English version is bad. It's well sung and just as epic.

WA 2 was like one big shounen anime.
Chuuni Chewer Wild Arms 3 is specifically constructed like an anime series, with each chapter being a different 'season' of the anime. Hence the changing openings depending on how far you've progressed in the game.

+Mico415 Sony did actually make a Wild Arms anime, it's literally called "Wild Arms TV", it was pretty good. It's not based off of any game in particular more on the universe (it has just as much to do with other game as the games have to do with each other).

umm... it involves the Sony Vegas dude...
right click the video clip itself, then go to Properties. Uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio", then go to Event Pan/Crop and match enlarge it from there till it doesn't show anymore black borders...
it's not that long of a process honestly... it's when the video frames skip is when it's a problem.. though in your case, that's not an issue...

Some how I never owned this one, I had 1 and 2 and my friend had 3.
Despite beating 1 and 2 and never owning 3 when I think of Wild Arms it's 3 I think about.
I've played Wild arms 2, 3 and 5. To me this was the better history.
