Cody, I was just getting ready to post the same words. Brian, You remind me of the new version of Virgil Ward (He was one one of the original fishing info shows) and I always though his was the best info in fishing shows. I will tell my friends of this channel.
I have a 7’4 medium heavy white bird with an Abu Garcia pro max and it’s the best combo I have. I have to say favorite is one of the best rods I’ve used. I find your information very helpful and I think I’m gonna try a defender rod now
Brian, congratulations on your win! You deserve it as a good ole country boy, down to earth family oriented family man. Because of your opinion I purchased a white bird to try out the product. I usually fish upper end Lews but was looking for something a little different. I agree why hasn’t Favorite given you a custom signature series rod? Good luck, Thanks for keeping us informed and God Bless you and your family.
Wow just seeing this out of the box ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
Brain is the man. I have learned so much from you being on the water and off. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keeping me inspired to keep going with my own channel. Thanks for the content.
Hey man, appreciate your review! I started to buy a reel from Amazon, but wanted to help out your channel. I'm glad I did because it was actually cheaper on sportsman's outfitters. Win win!
I bought an abu garcia pro max 2 years ago because of you and this video... I've since tried a lews and a kastking baitcasters they weren't for me although I do like my lews spinning reel I now have a black max for friends to use and a revo rkt for myself.. Abu garcia for life
B. Lat since the wife and I swear we saw you on a practice day up at Lake St. Clair this past summer (at the boat ramp she suggested you put your boat on our trailer, lol) I've watched most of your videos and can say I've learned a ton of information about fishing techniques and equipment. For us novice guys that secretly want to be able to fish with the big dogs any advantage I can get I'm taking it and I appreciate ya showing us stuff that won't break the bank or get the wifey too upset with us spending money on our hobby. Thanks again, keep up with the vids and fish on
Love the Max series. I used the Black Max, Silver Max and Pro Max when I was in the military and they are the best reels in the low-mid dollar category IMO
I appreciate the video on rods and reels in this price range. I’m far from a pro but nowhere near a beginner. When I look for new equipment it’s usually somewhere in between. Keep up the good work!
Just picked up a 7’1” med/heavy Sick Stick can’t wait to take it out. I had been using a Lew’s Speed Stick but had an accident with it so decided to try out a Favorite
I know this is a old vid. But I’m a avid bass fisherman fish a lot of club events etc. I own several revo’s and almost everything I own is Abu. But IMO the Promax for me is the smoother better feeling reel. I use them for everything deep cranking swimbaits etc. They just feel better over the revo in my book.
I haven't tried the Favorite brand of rods yet, but I'll check them out. The best rods that I've seen at the $49.99 price point thus far is the Daiwa Aird-X.
I love my lews and Abu Garcia baitcaster combos I pieced together shopping at Wal-Mart . Also cant forget about my Penn fierce 3000 spinning reel with 7' MH rod. That being said really wish instead of the revo x being Abu Garcia $99 reel they would have went with the tried and true pro max 3 and added a aluminum frame, improved drag and gears, a deeper lighter spool, a 95mm handle with softer knobs, an aluminum drag star and improved worm gear. I know alot of people will say that's what the revo x is but I never heard of pro max reels with flying side plates.
The problem with my situation; I need a good 2 piece spinning setup for finesse fishing small mouth in the Niagara. So far I am set on the Abu Garcia Zata Spinning Fishing Reel paired with a 2 piece St. Croix Rods Mojo Bass Spinning Rod.
Iv always favored you on account of you being from my home state and respected you being one of the few black anglers in the pros but you've become one of my favorite fisherman good luck to you
Another really good rod under 50 is the daiwa aird x. An absolute beast for spinning or baitcasting. But i’m a daiwa guy in general so i might be biased because it matches my exceler lt
You did this video back in 2018, time to do an updated version??? Pease add what line you would use on the reels. I am co-angler and can only take 5 or 6 rods so they have to do multiple duties. What would you recommend in 2021, how would you string them, and how would you use them?
Enjoy your vids....on a budget as many fishermen ....been thinking bout pro max reel and will add to my limited arsenal for next season....wishing you succes
Brian Latimer man you deserve it ! Plus it’ll reach to a different part of the market . A few of my buddies who don’t really watch any UA-cam had no idea what Favorite rods were but when I mentioned your name the knew who I was talking about they just didn’t know who your rod sponsor was . I just don’t think they could go wrong with a B. Lat rod !

I have 2 Favorite rods; a 7’4” med hvy Big Sexy, and a 7’ Lunkers TV medium/fast spinning. I just have to say that one of the best things about the rods are the fit/finish and attention to detail. Very good quality, and seem to be a good company.
im usually a lews man myself... but that whitebird looks attractive aesthetics wise and price range... might have to pick one of those up! good job b-lat kinda cool to see a pro angler that doesnt spend an arm and a leg on fishing rods and reels
We have the Revo X and Pro max combos from Abu Garcia and I am very happy with them so far. We have been using them since last season. I need to get the medium heavy bait caster next....
Brian you're be far my favorite pro. I bought a defender spinning today couple months back. I will now be switching over to Favorite. Love there rods. Keep up the good work bro.
97% of the time, I use baitcasters. The other 3%, I use a telescopic cane pole :-). I'm now wanting to get a quality rig for throwing light tackle (1/16 , 1/8...). From what I can tell, a small spinning rig would be ideal, but not sure what's really good. I'm 57 and have still rigs that I bought when I was 13, so this will be a life-time rig. I see a JM Signature Series and Pro Qualifier combos at BP that seem good. I also see a combo recommended by Bill Dance by Quantum, and another recommeded by IKE. I'm sure they're all good, but need some professional advice from someone who uses spinning gear. Thank you for your reply.
You should work with favorite to make some old school styled rods with modern day performance. I love their rods but I miss the cork grips and classic features.

New subscriber (and new angler, sorta) I'm looking to up my spinning gear with a reel under $180, any thoughts on the Revo Rocket spin reel? Otherwise going with the X.
got a revo x for $60, shimano exage rod for $50, 30lb daiwa samurai braid for $10, for $120 i got a more premium feeling starter combo, never buy retail, there is always a cheaper seller
hmmmmm. A pro bass fisherman telling me I don't have to spend $500+ on a good rod/reel combo? Love it.
all that expensive equipment is nice and all but professional fisherman have caught bass for a long time without all the new equipment around now.

I just got a revo x for my frog rod.
Great video bud. Congrats on the big win this weekend. 👍🏻👍🏻
2021 version?
New subscriber (and new angler, sorta) I'm looking to up my spinning gear with a reel under $180, any thoughts on the Revo Rocket spin reel? Otherwise going with the X.
Can you throw walking baits on it
got a revo x for $60, shimano exage rod for $50, 30lb daiwa samurai braid for $10, for $120 i got a more premium feeling starter combo, never buy retail, there is always a cheaper seller
Christian Flores Where did you get this!?!
@@joshmorrison4464 rod and line was on sale at academy, revo was on ebay, it flexuates from 60 to $75
Christian Flores Gotcha, that’s definitely a steal man!
@@joshmorrison4464 revo x is $62 on ebay today
Always helps to even shop used and not be afraid to ask for a lower price. I've picked up a few rods with low hours on them for over half off new.
