my opinions are just that, my opinions.
I have owned 3 of each rifle so id like to think across years of ownership, multiple rifles of each, and over 20k rounds I have a pretty realistic and unbiast view on each.
There are some nerdier differences in each system we will discuss on a future video as well. - Спорт

Love the comparison video. When MCR built my RimX last year he had NOT had a Big'n Andy trigger in his shop yet. He tested 2 triggers on 2 RimX Builds with zero need for the Low Sear height. Tac Sport Pro and Tac Sport both in 2 stage triggers. He was shocked at how well the triggers performed in the RimX Actions.
Had my order in for a Vudoo but after all the mag issues noted I canceled my order and called DPI and now Kenny is gonna go full out custom build. Should be in the next few weeks I hope. Fingers crossed. RimX for me
Good plan, i am pretty sure that vudoo has chimpanzees doing their barrel fitting. Kenny knows precisely what he is doing. Check out Kenny's videos on Vudoo problems. Vudoo's work is SH!T. (15 year machinist here so I know what proper machining looks like)
@jonenglish6617 seen everyone of his videos and is pretty much why I changed my mind. From chambering to mag issues I wanted full custom build where he had his hand in precision machining. The only way to get custom performance is through custom machining.
Outstanding Josh because of you I got my grandson and I into competition and He did and excellent job just scoring ever so slightly behind me. We were both using the same rifle loaned to us by a friend. Now I have to get some rifles ready for our competitions in the future.

There definitely is
The RimX I own serial # is in the 100's I can't remember exactly when I bought it. It had been ammo tested by the builder and they put around 1000 rounds through it without a single failure. I had one round that failed to fire and I reinserted it in the magazine after rotating the pin strike and refired it and it went off. That is the only one in close to six thousand rounds so far however I do keep the bolt head clean and yes they sell a bolt small parts replacement kit I ordered one as soon as I got the rifle. I would really like to try a Vudoo it took me quite a number of rounds to get used to the bolt throw and keep my position without prairie dogging. I think also being mine has a carbon fiber barrel it is lighter so cocking the bolt tends to make the rifle roll a little makes it harder to manipulate the bolt. The firing pin spring does feel a little heavy. The only other high end 22 I have owned was a 64 action Anschutz and it was a little smoother and easier to cock. I have an old Matchmaster that is really easy to work but neither it or the 64 can match the Rimx for accuracy and consistency. Nothing wrong with owning nice stuff.

Hey Josh have the Vudoo like you said it’s the magazine,gun shoot light out. Vudoo has been working on a new mag very similar to the Rimx but it has not come out,maybe to similar.

I would have gone with RimX, but, when I found out Vudoo was offering a right-bolt left-port repeater, I had to have one.
I've had a few rim-locks with my Vudoo but it was my fault.
Look forward to getting a few of their new improved billet mags if they ever release them.

Nice Vid! I have been thinking on selling one of my Vudoos and trying a Rim-X but the $125 per copy mags keep sticking in my craw. ( I usually like 4-5 mags min) Vudoo mags are 3/$99 and have been problem free for me IF I do my part in loading them with care.
You could run the l3i mags if your ok with polymer.
Looks like possible mag issue vs possible extraction issue.

When was this video made? I just purchased a Vudoo action directly from Vudoo. I purchased my barrel from Krieger Barrels. I'm having Johnathan Elrod of Modacam Custom Rifles do the complete rifle build. So I'm not sure what VGW's policy used to be but as of 9-6-2023 you can purchase an action only from Vudoo Gun Works.

I’m choosing two stage triggered Anschutz with match action & barrel or a real nice Winchester model 52. Because Walnut & Steel. Of course after I pay off my HK PSG1 first. Out of yours here the Rimmex , because of it’s magazines.
My RimX is set up with a Proof SS prefit from Altusshooting and a TriggerTech special, have no idea the sear height. The first group through it was 3rd round through the 9th round ever through the barrel with SKRM, group was .24. 7000 rounds plus and feed extraction issues have been a non issue.

With all these high end rifles. Why don't any of them have a built-in easily adjustable headspace bolts by the turn of part of the bolt's housing.Considering the general opinion, of the importance of headspace.
I seem to remember the Springfield 1922 M2 bolt had an adjustable headspace although were pinned at the factory.
Option B on whichever one has prefits: barrel shims. Use ar15 barrel nut shims to adjust headspace. It won't work on the one that needs to be timed though.
Another option is a two piece bolt with a shim between the bolt halves to push the bolt nose further out. I did that on an old sporter rifle by unpinning the nose from the bolt body and dropping a shim in there.

Vudoo is adressing some of the issues that has plagued them lately. The are offering some heavy barrels to balance rifle! There mtu was not close to a true mtu contour. I chose to use Di precision because vudoo did not offer these barrels then. My Rimx rifles are all super nice rifles! I am with you. They are both too close to pick!
They need to fire whatever monkey was fitting their barrels. And buy a depth micrometer

Option #3, that has yet to hit the market. The clear winner in superior magazine design and reliability, the clear winner when it comes to being indifferent to quality triggers being used, the clear winner when it comes to action consistency as far as dimensions for prefits and finish for the action feel.. all in one rifle.
It's kind of a shame that 'the best of' are two different rifles with compromises for each. They've been out for a few years now, and these issues haven't been resolved by the OEMs? That by itself isn't confidence inspiring.
Easier said than done brother. Im nitpicking these rifles to death. When your pushing the envelope its gonna be real hard to produce, in high volume, something thats perfect.
is it NRL22 thing to hang on to your scope when shooting? This rabbit hole of 22lr accuracy is becoming a bit absurd. Wondering how Lapua center-x ammo does in production rifles
Its a preference thing. Slight downward pressure on the scope helps stabilize the rifle a bit better on the bag
In Australia we can only buy the Vudoo Action and Barrel, thats how they come

As far as benchrest or F class goes , nothing beats a Vudoo single shot .
Several rifles beat a vudoo in benchrest, it's rarely in the running for top placement in the big organizations

The Element is the one I was referring to.. Nice looking optic, how are the turrets/Glass and eye box?
@ZZ-uf4zv the turrets are really crisp with no mushiness thanks to the lack of a locking mechanism. Eye box is quite good but gets tight at top end magnification, as is expected on most HPVO's. Glass is excellent, on par with the Gen 3 Razor, as you would expect given the price range and the fact that they're both LOW produced optics.

Josh, I’ve asked before, what about Anschutz? The straight pull biathlon action shout be a Best of All. If I fall into a bucket of money, I’m going straight to the Anny, and at something like 3,000 USD or $4200 Cdn, will end up costing more than the VooDoo.

Hi Josh, I’ve tried to watch all your videos. As I mentioned after watching one of your other videos, I think I will look into a RimX
I did read about people grumbling about magazine and feeding issues when they first came out, but it looks as if that’s all straightened out.
If we ever were going to get the chance to shoot together, I would have to bring down my Martini falling block rifle in 22lr. That rifle has The best trigger I have ever felt in any gun. If it wasn’t for being on the clock in these contests I would spend all the time needs to try and get that rifle set up.

I live in a country where it is a lengthy proses to buy and get a license for any firearm. Selling is also a proses and a half as the buyer must then get his license through this long proses. But still, I wonder why are you selling rifles just to buy the same again? Are they worn out? Don't they shoot good?

Those 2 are not where i would start but they are likely 3 grand without optics

If I had issues with my Vudoo mags, I'd probably give that point to the Rimx as well. Unfortunately for Zermatt, my Vudoo has had zero mag issues while my Rimx has had a few, so I find the Rimx mag costing more than double the price to be aggravating. Billet is cool, but if it doesn't work better, the point goes to Vudoo in my book.
Another difference is that Vudoo offers 90 degree bolt throw models and 60 degree bolt throw models, while the Rimx is 90 degrees only. That may not matter to some folks, but for those who care, the 60 degree option is a point for Vudoo.
The barrel swap options is a solid point for the Rimx in my view. My Vudoo is an 18" kukri profile, and changing it is not something I can do myself.
These two are so close, I think people's opinions will come down to which one has been finicky for you, and which one meets your preferences better. Both are extremely well made, both will shoot tiny groups.
Now I just need to hear more about this magic new CZ457 barrel Josh has been hiding so that I can complete my CZ setup!

You can order a vudoo directly from them. Bison tactical is a good place to find a rimx.
Yeah my l3i mags run really well for me. But the potential for rim lock is there given the design of the magazines for a vudoo.
The rimx mag height needs to be set just right.
I can see how it could go either way, the billet rimx mag edges out the vudoo (until they release the billet vudoo mag) for me.
What about Anschutz?
They are a little fussier than the other two with feeding and extracting.
Tubes are crooked. EKWB has parts to fix that!

Vudoo is 1970 for a rifled barreled. Plus trigger of your choice ( could be up to 400 )
And chassis or stock of your choice .
You will be at least around 2750-3500 with Vudoo . This is with off the shelf barreled rifle action .
With RimX it is similar depending on the gunsmith of your choice
Too many variables, both run around 1800-1900 for the barreled actions then add stock, trigger, and optic
.....you didn't go over the "dry-fire" issue with rim-x, on that note, can't believe why rimx doesn't incorporate an empty-mag/bolt stop......issue fixed.......
So few people dryfire i didnt even think about it honestly.
On the rimx it is insanely easy to remove the firing pin should you want to do a dry fire session.
If your talking about accidental dry firing I dont think its really an issue if its not done a ton.
Ive dry fired mine plenty on accident and had no issues

Highest Precision Rimfire is Annie. Hypothetically, If couldn't afford Anschutz, I'd send my CZ 457 to an accuracy gunsmith for a premium barrel and stock. Beware of gunsmiths who refuse to use your CZ 457 action without even looking at it as they argue it will have wear on it and they will only do a build with a new action "THAT THEY SUPPLY." That's really rude if they refuse to inspect your action for wear first! It appears that some of these guys will do everything they can to make a sale so as to feather their own nest.

Very well known in a "very dry area" if you know what I mean? I won't mention a name because he's taken the video down however he is very well known and his first name starts with a "K." I think you'd remember the video where he disassembled a base model 457 for the action in his shop and would only do a build on an action from the rifle that he acquires and sells on to the customer .@@PursuitofAccuracy
@@audieladd2476from a liability standpoint that's probably not a bad idea to better deal with known entities. The manner of or reasons for dismissing the option to work on used guns doesn't help though.
Will have to send your action to gunsmith, if you want a new barrel for vudoo because of the extractor cuts. Should not dryfire a RimX, without removing the firing pin first
Yeah with a rimx because of the fixed extractor you can get prefits. In my opinion a smithed vudoo does have an advantage over the rimx and a prefit. I dont dryfire the rimx a ton but it does get dry fired. Your going to have to get a spare parts kit for the rimx anyways, which includes a firing pin, so for me its not really a big deal if your not dry firing it 100 times a day
@@PursuitofAccuracyJust a FYI, vudoo offers barreled actions/ rifles with 24" bartlein barrels 1.2" diameter truck axles. Lot of prs rimfire guys use them in my area, along with EC Tuner

I have never experienced rimrock on my Vudoo, a friend suggested a JKLprecision magazine loader for the Vudoo, it feeds the 22lr perfectly and for 6 bucks why not? I think you said it best when you said you can't go wrong with either rifle.

Absurd that a $20M rifle had a plastic magazine with issues?! For this money included magazines, should load themselves from ammo on the shelf and then jump into the rifle without human touch. These rifles are more lack than capability from where I sit, but I exist to be dis-proven.

I give them a little bit of a pass on it as they were the first guys to make a production repeater on a 700 footprint. The others had a chance to sit back and make chsnges based on what vudoo did

I I had the money and means I will do it as well.
I got my Vudoo360 07-2021 I did not shoot it for the 18 months due to limited ammo available. In 02-2023 I started shooting and tried every ammo available several lots of each, I easily spent over $1500 in ammo and never found a consistent ammo or good groups. I called Vudoo 07-2023 told them my issue and without question or hesitation they emailed me a pre-paid shipping label to return the gun for testing. They found a slight issue on the crown at one land and re crowned the barrel. They said my headspace was not optimal and replaced the bolt with a new upgrade parts. The test firing produced excellent results and they returned the rifle for free 2 years after purchase. I will go to the range Tuesday to test ammo and report back. My rifle Timney Hit, 18" Ace barrel Kukri profile Element 4.0 chasis 20 MOA Rail, Nightforce Titanium rings Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 Atlas Bipod P.S. I have 5 Vudoo magazines zero issues

Who told you, you can't buy v22 action separately. That's false information, there's lots for sale without a barrel.
You are correct. At the time I filmed it I wasnt aware they had released just the action for sale. Thats a fairly new thing for vudoo, for the longest you couldnt buy just the action
