All I know is it's so beautiful in Conroe, traffic or not. Rita was such a sad nightmare for so many! But we are Texans! Resilient and Strong 💪! I really love the show clip inserts! I'm so proud TX takes care of Veterans! ❤
I stumbled on your channel and I appreciate the information. I actually opened the Marshalls store in 1994 in The Woodlands back in 1994 I worked around the Houston area as we were part of Klein ISD. The only thing that was there when I open that Marshall store was Target that was at the end as an anchor. I remember when they were taking the old spot where the blimp used to come in and they were feeling it in or whatever. I was recently back in Houston and went up towards the Woodlands could not believe. Although I look back and I've been gone since 2004 and I have to say it is utterly amazing . I hope everyone is making a strong comeback from the flooding in the storms. Even though I'm back in Louisiana, Houston, the woodlands, Conroe Karma humble will always be home. Oh yeah I forgot I closed the old Marshalls on 1960 in Humble and reopened it across the freeway to I'm very fortunate to work with a great group of people for a great group of people
My husband grew up in Conroe graduated from Conroe High. In his words couldn't wait to move out of Conroe. Way to hot and humid, had to live under the air conditioner 3/4 of the year. Five minutes out of the shower your ready for another one. Good jobs meant driving to Houston. Back then one to one half hours each way. Can't imagine the traffic now. Can't imagine paying that big of electric bill now. Always flooding in certain areas. Cut and shoot was named for a cutting or shooting everynight. Still lots of hillbillys back in the east south east side. I can honestly say we visited before his parents moved and took a walk around the block. We saw so many crack viles in the gutters we lost count. I guess every body has to have some place to live. Choose wisely!
That part about Cut and Shoot isn't a lie, I worked in the Woodlands at the Indian Dealership and one of the guys that I worked with grew-up there and still lived there. He had a loaded pistol in every room of his house, he said when he was 13 or 14 his dad and uncle (dad's brother) got drunk, got in a fight and shot each other damn near killing each other. That's a ROUGH part of Texas.
I traveled down 105 to Montgomery yesterday and was surprised by how quickly it moved. I think the median project made a difference. Still, during rush hour it’s brutal!
I used to be a Traveling Tech for Indian Motorcycles and worked at The Woodland Premium Motorcycles for 4 months in 2019, I lived in the Extended Stay in Spring but I spent as much time as possible in Conroe, I absolutely LOVED the city and now that my contract is up with Indian I'm planning on moving back in the December, I'm looking for a small 1 bedroom maybe 2 bedroom on or close to the Lake, if it needs some works even better.
Yes there are tax breaks for anyone over 65. There is a 10k addition to the homestead exemption, but the big one os the school tax freeze. On the year you turn 65, what you pay in school district tax is what you will pay for the rest of the time in your home. So if your house gains value (which would raise your taxes) You will always pay the same amount that you did at age 65. This is on top of the standard homestead exemption which is currently 100k. If this is hard to understand please feel free to reach out and I can explain it more in depth.
@@conroeliving oh wow! But I don’t live in TX but planning to move hopefully this year from CA and I’m past 65 I’m 67, would that work the same way as I was 65?
Me & my husband are relocating to be closer to Houston but we don't want to go bk into the actual city so we are deciding on Conroe...any ideas on just nice neighborhoods he is retired now & I work from home
Hi Kim. I’d be happy to help. It depends on what you were looking for. There are lots of great neighborhoods throughout Montgomery County that are far enough away from the city, but not too far. Reach out to me @ jeff@jeffwestproperties.com and we can talk more specifics.
There really isn’t any such area that doesn’t get some flooding around the metroplex. Houston is a Bayou city that is basically flat and almost almost sea level. Water doesn’t drain as fast as other places as a result. Homes flood that are too close to a river, creek, or buyou. What’s made it worse is all of the development. Places that used to be farmland are now covered with cement, housing developments, and when the water can’t soak into the ground, it’s gotta go somewhere.
Hi. Conroe is a big area. There are certain parts of Conroe that flood, but a small percentage of the whole area. If you’re thinking of moving to the area, you just need to know what parts to avoid. I’d be happy to help you with that.
😂 well there is still definitely some of that, but the area is changing. I took clients out to a few communities there this past weekend and they loved it. Well they loved everything except getting there with all the roads flooded!
Yes I’m from Massachusetts I’m thinking about moving to Texas the Cost of living is so bad absolutely nothing me and my can afford anymore it’s time to relocate Texas is the move

Traffic is especially bad on the side roads like 3083 and our second freeway, 105.

That traffic story highly scares me 😮
It was definitely a bad time. Fortunately it also led to stronger hurricane evacuation plans that were desperately needed.
😂😂😂Very informative and funny! Thank you!

Moving to Conroe in a week for a job opportunity. Thanks for the info
Welcome to the neighborhood! Let me know how I can help

How about non flood areas near the Houston area?

Can I ask please, is conroe a flood risk area?

Stay out of River Plantation and pretty much anywhere near the San Jacinto River.
I also grew up in East County and those aren't jokes, they're facts. Cut n Shoot, Grangerland, Security. All full of terrible people 😆

About 50k people in the last decade.
