I remember watching your videos back in 2021...I moved to this area shortly afterwards. It's been awesome! Obviously it's not perfect, but it checks all the right boxes and we feel grateful to have discovered it!
@@buffaloliving2.0devontedav65how’s the Buffalo economy doing today? I have been there in the late eighties and the job market for unskilled workers was pretty tight but the rents were inexpensive and I rented a room in a large rooming house for about $45 a week. The house was on the corner of Euclid and Anderson.
Buffalo is much nicer now than in the dying industrial days when I was in grad school in 82-83. My son and his wife love living in Elmwood Village, and it's great visiting them. Like most cities, there are neighborhoods that are depressed (where those vacant lots are). Hopefully they will benefit from the overall increase in prosperity.

I was literally just showing my girlfriend one of your videos yesterday and explaining to her how much you’ve help me learn about some of the best custom home builders in the area. Like Forbes Capretto and Essex. got a little word that you haven’t uploaded the last six months. Great to see you back.!
For the Canada crossing, look into a Nexus card. $50 for 5 years, you have to go in for a quick interview at the whirlpool bridge but once you get the card you don't have to wait in line and you get hardly any questions crossing. Totally worth it if you cross even a few times a year
I’m glad you’re back. You’re one of the main channels I used for research before moving to Buffalo. I live in Hamburg now and maintain my New York City salary everything you say is correct love it out here.
I know 2 people that live in OP, they get shut down because of the snow. ❄️ I’m also a Canadian. I love Elmwood street in the summer. Or the waterfront where the ships are. Buffalo has a cool vibe.
I am from TN but bought a house outside of East Aurora after renting here for several years. I hear so many people unable to find affordable housing yet I got a 2 bed 1 bath cottage 30 min from the city with 2 car garage, half and acre, and a creek. Convenience AND privacy for less than $150k!
Welcome back and Happy New Year. I left around 1995 and plan on coming back for semi-retirement in the next 2 years. I can't wait and will definitely be getting a hold of you. Keep throwing up those videos, you do a great job.
I stumbled across this video and started laughing at the comment that local residents complain when they must drive 20+ minutes to get somewhere. It's 100% true, and as someone who moved up here from NoVA, DC Metro, I used to laugh at those complainers. But after 11 years, I complain about driving more than 20 minutes to get somewhere. You definitely get spoiled over time. As mentioned at the beginning of the video...the KEY is maintaining a NON-Buffalo salary. Pay is very low here, which is why housing is inexpensive. Proximity to Toronto is also clutch--access to MLB, NBA, MLS, concerts, etc. And last but not least, having a top NFL team and an entire region that supports them passionately makes for a fun football season. Cool vid!
Stay out of Buffalo. If you like the country... look at wyoming county. I'm still trying to get out of NY. Buffalo sucks. A couple suburbs are ok. Like East Aurora.
We move with the family at the end of June from NYC and we like it here. We love the Amherst area as it's safe and you have everything you need in terms of shopping. With the increase in value over time I will say Williamsville is the spot to buy even if it's expensive now. As in the future it will still hold it's value, Williamsville is really the best spot for our family.
Hello from across the river bro, my ma was from Buffalo. So glad to see your train terminal coming back, it's a jewel for sure. And whoever can bring back the NBA team there, will never get voted out.
I grew up in Buffalo, moved away (spent a lot of time in Florida and a few years in South Carolina) but we moved back to Buffalo about a decade ago. Well, not BUFFALO but north of Niagara Falls, about 25-30 minutes from Downtown Buffalo. I wouldn't want to be in the lake effect belt. But everthing else about it, we love. And as far as the huge Christmas week storm? that was localized also. We live about 20 miles north of Downtown, and we had so little snow you could still see our grass on the lawn.
I love you! I love your passion for your hometown. I am originally from NYC, relocated to Rochester, NY to finish raising my children and I have not met any speak so highly of this beautiful area. I'm 58 and the children are full grown and I'm looking for a place that I can afford a quality life. I'm active and a foodie. Any suggestions on Condos or Townhomes? and how is it on aging in place?
Yes most of our condos are going to be in the Amherst area but our town homes are going to be disbursed As many builders are moving to townhomes as an affordable option Let’s jump on a call and I can explain further
I'm from NYC and I KNOW better about Buffalo. I Lived here off and on since 1977. This is My final run living here. NYC is $$$hittier as well. The South's Sunshine LOVES ME, it kisses Me so passionately each time I return.
Buffalo seems like the perfect place for me as I am a resident of a small suburb of San Antonio, TX who's looking at SUNY Buffalo as a possible school to attend. Also, I want to move back to the cold as I grew up North of St.Louis, MO and miss the snow, cold air, etc. Summer's in Texas are brutal and long and I've had enough. How's the black communty as a whole in buffalo. I ask since I'm a 28 year old black male myself and would like to move somewhere that has more of a sense of community and unity amongst my people? I hear its a lot of blacks in Buffalo and that is also an interest point for me too. Its hardly any blacks in San Antonio.
I was just thinking about moving out there you guys got cheap rent. I was saying this for the longest I seen a couple towns and city outside of NYC with cheap rent. I don't have a problem with snow I know how to chain up the tires on the back of pickup.
I keep flirting with moving there (especially the East Aurora area, maybe Boston, NY) but I think the property taxes are absolutely insane, no? I like the proximity to Toronto, and I love the lower home prices, but if I buy a place for $500-600K (cash), as far as I can see, I'll be paying something like $12K-$15K. That really nullifies (and then some) what I would save on a house. I just retired at 55 and need to get out of Boston, MA in the next few months, so I'm trying to find my forever home. I'm currently looking in VT, the UP in MI, and maybe Buffalo.
I want to move to Buffalo, because I love Buffalo so much. I wish to meet a wonderful christian widower with kids and is active in church and want to visit me in Sweden.
