Honestly, I love it. I think this is the perfect addition to any LEGO city - not just with the structures, but so many figures from different branches. Sure the museum could be way more detailed, but it's fairly easy to do this yourself with just a couple items from let's say Kingdom, Pirates or Indiana Jones.
I think it would be a great gift for 'new' lego fans! My kids (7 and 10) have A LOT of Lego and they LOVE this. They think it will be the perfect addition for their 'town'.....
The one thing about the museum portion that I do like is that you can use it to house the recent Lego Arctic sets' prehistoric creature finds... If only there were more room in the museum so that you could easily incorporate additional displays.
I wish they'd like sell this as a Mega-pack of smaller sets instead of 1 big purchase. The Hotel, Hot Dog stand, Ice Cream car and Halfpipe are fine, as small (Creator) sets with the focus on buildings/commerce.
LEGO should have scrapped the crane and extended the museum to also be a 16x16 set IMO. The museum is a massive disappointment. I bought 60008 (City Museum) and while it wasn't amazing, it was much much better than whatever the museum in this city is. It's a shame, because I like all the little pieces which come with it - the kiosk, the cars and the skate park could all be nice additions.
That’s a brutally honest - and spot on - review Jang! You nailed my problem with this set. It is disjointed. It’s mostly ok but makes no sense in such a pricey set. Broken down I’d take 3/5 of it happily. But as is, no sadly. A shame given how good previous equivalents of this have been.
It's very likely that these will be bought and then seperated on ebay, so if you wanted say just the bus and nothing else, you could buy just the bus. I know people do it for profit but also it helps those that do not want to buy a whole set just to get one vehicle. Using vehicle as an example.
This is DEFINITELY not worth it!!! I got my Old Fishing Store for about the same price with nearly TWICE the piece count! I also got my Parisian Restaurant for only $10 more than this with perhaps more than twice the pieces! If I want to spend that much money on a set, I'll get a Creator modular! I just don't get why these city sets have to be so darn expensive. I know they come with a lot of figs but that still isn't worth it for me. I can't help but feel that the scenes here would have been a lot better as separate themes under a sort of city center sub-theme. Like or comment if you agree or disagree. I love to hear people's opinions!
The only thing I want very bad here is the hotel, since I haven't gone into MOCs yet in my city, but the other buildings, while nice to have, aren't anything we haven't seen before.
I haven’t bought a LEGO set in at least a year and a half, but this re peaked my interest. My favorite set of all time was actually the smart car from 2007-08. It was cheap, had one minifig, and one car. So that orange smart car brought back memories for me.
Honestly the old 2006 - 2009 city sets were probably the best. We got cool police sets, firefighter sets, and a super cool construction set (love that massive 2006 crane)
Bob Dickens Man That crane was cool. I never had it but it looked cool. Plus city corner is really good and I really wanted it. Never got it in the end but oh well. I do however think that there are many great sets in the Lego city theme recently.
I find it so weird that LEGO is using orange soccer balls to represent basketballs even though they do have a basketball mold. I mean, I have a bunch from back when LEGO sports was a thing and had a whole basketball sub-theme. It came AFTER the soccer theme, making it newer, yet the basketball mold is gone. Why? That's just weird!
Mickey the Maniac To save on costs, Lego eliminated a lot of their molda. Soccer is a more popular sport worldwide compared to basketball so it would make sense to keep that mold rather than the basketball one, especially considering there's no real difference in how the pieces function or how they are shaped or sized.
This is a must buy from me as it has a ton of material for my City and at $150 it is a must buy. It is a shame that all we get are half buildings but I can incorporate them into other half buildings of my own.
In many places capital city is synonymous with big city, here in Australia our state capitals are all the largest cities in their respective states, so maybe they mean capital like that, but still weird in a line already called city.
Personally I just feel like this set was a little too ambitious. It tried to do too much so the individual components just weren’t as good as they could have been
Was so looking forward to this review. But can't help feeling that this set could and should have been much better. The previous Town Square and City Square sets were far superior in my opinion.
Brick First There’s plenty I like but I don’t really want everything included. There seems to be enough opportunities for Lego to improve this but it does feel disappointing. Had I picked this up without any knowledge of what it contained then I think I would be a little disappointed.
You could build a museum in the underground district of your city using the Jurassic world sets, artic exploration sets, and this set. That would be really neat! Probably wouldn't fit with the cyberpunk idea for that district though :/
The hotel and buss are amazing, the exhibition also looks good, but the museum looks more like a sad hospital. I think it is kinda worth the price, but barely.
Its the thypical city mega booster pack of every year i think we need a city series that not only includes vehicles(like the 80% of city sets)we need multiple sets of small building to complete citys
Am I the only one who saw that museum building and immediately thought that it was a "work in progress" because the other exhibitions were coming from the current Lego City Arctic sets? Surely the specimens that they are collecting are designed to go into that museum! As such I think it is great just as it is!
I think the museum and hotel is open ended for someone to add on to it and make it look however they want to. I like how it's open ended. I hope to have that Lego set one day.
I use the head that's on the "bus driver" figure in this set to be the Lego version of myself, since that's pretty much what I look like, especially if you add a Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Owen Grady hairpiece.
the thought process that you went through to create a price for each and add them up as a whole is really smart for a set of this nature and interesting. just out of curiosity is there a particular reason why you don't review many sets from the likes of elves, friends and Disney princesses?
This totally reminds me of the lego town set from the 80s that never got a release . I'm going to pass on this one but the stickers are very cool ! I'm surprised they didn't make this for lego friends .
I think the smaller car is just an altered color of the small city car that came in it's own box before. I remember in the game it was the "Smallesimo." I do wish I could get that blue sports car on it's own.
In reality a clear gearbox is good so when it's broken you can tell what's wrong without taking it apart, it also looks cool but that's besides the point
if the museum is ice age based then maybe you could add the ice age animals from the other logo city sets from this year then you are expanding the museum
with that museum you could display the frozen animals you've collected from the arctic line that came out a while ago. I think that what they were going for, kinda to bridge the gap between all the lego city themes.
if lego were to make a modular building, it really should be either a hotel or a museum. I'd prefer to see a hotel, cause I have a fair amount of people who are living in their cars or campers. A hotel or even an apartment building would be nice. Also, at 13:19. What was that noise.
Oh my gosh YES. Or maybe a train station? I have the same issue. I’m only 15 so I can’t just go buy 30 modulate like half the LEGO UA-camrs do. I’d take a hotel over a museum as well
I'm looking forward to buying this set. I think all those things that come with this would look perfect in my Lego city display. Especially the Hotel, looking forward to that!
it looks like it offers a lot of playability at least, kind of like those big arctic / jungle sets. probably better for siblings yeah, as everyone gets something to play with.
Great review! :) I completely agree with your opinion with the museum. Although if you think about it that this set came out in the same year/season as the Arctic exploration sets, I really like the hint on the info sticker, that you can add the mammoth and the saber-toothed tiger. And also use the bricks from those sets to expand the museum (they have few windows with the same colour, and plenty of white bricks for walls). Also the dinos from the jw sets would be a great addition. :)
I always buyed the sets for the minifig(i didn't knew about bricklink yet) so i had a lot back then so then i started to collect them and now i have a few baseplates full of them
This is rough for $150. So many things I'd want and don't want to justify the price. I would try to buy things in sections from someone who already opened it. I'm assuming each thing or small things have their own manual and bags. The hotel and food stand I love and would get those and expand some. The blue car is nice and some of the minfigs I'd want. That's it.
I really like the blue car and the crain other than that i dont want anything else i will probably get the part list and brick link the builds. Thanks for the review!
When you put it like that it’s a decent price as a older builder I would much rather by a set like brick bank which is a similar price. I like the mini figs but I could just buy the people pack
I mean the price tag is pretty reasonable for the amount of stuff, but I guess it's just the amount of smaller sets added up that makes it seem less of a deal.
I think the set is an addition to a capital city. It should have been called "Capital City Accessories" or something. Capital CIty sounds like one big building. A capital building. That would have been cool. Also, I like how you priced eveything too. It makes sense the set would cost that much, but it is a bit expensive for a bunch of small things in the set. Great review!
I wanted this set beacuse I have my own Lego city with only city and creator sets. Overall I think they needed to add more detail to the museum and not include the electric car charger and/or mini car. But I do like the hotel and vehicles the most
Wolfgang accross a season of sets I notice that i aquire stockpile of particular pieces. That's Legos way of getting rid of things and its perfectly fine by me. They have over abundance on a part, im always happy to collect
I think that this is very much a running theme with these expensive "collection" type of boxes where if split to smaller builds and sold seperately, they would actually be very reasonable. just not as this huge mess
Don't have much time? See the
Great job again Jang!
That’s a great idea, watch the brief video then get to the longer one when you have time!
Love the idea of a long vid. And and a short one!
I have this set it took me two weeks to build
Would it be possible to place more seats on the roof of the bus and scoot driver seat over to make more room in the bus?
Honestly, I love it. I think this is the perfect addition to any LEGO city - not just with the structures, but so many figures from different branches. Sure the museum could be way more detailed, but it's fairly easy to do this yourself with just a couple items from let's say Kingdom, Pirates or Indiana Jones.
I kinda wish LEGO had just made a good sized hotel set, and a good sized museum set separately instead of what we got here.
Robert Hull modular hotel and a modular museum would be amazing.
I think it would be a great gift for 'new' lego fans! My kids (7 and 10) have A LOT of Lego and they LOVE this. They think it will be the perfect addition for their 'town'.....
I agree.
Love it!
The one thing about the museum portion that I do like is that you can use it to house the recent Lego Arctic sets' prehistoric creature finds... If only there were more room in the museum so that you could easily incorporate additional displays.
1:43 The only LEGO car I have ever seen that looks just as good with a roof as without one!
For a capital city I wish there was a fully fledged skyscraper, one can only hope. Once again a great review jang.
I wish they'd like sell this as a Mega-pack of smaller sets instead of 1 big purchase.
The Hotel, Hot Dog stand, Ice Cream car and Halfpipe are fine, as small (Creator) sets with the focus on buildings/commerce.
A modular Hotel set for 2019 would be really swell!
This remind me of the City corner set from 2009
Steel Penguin It reminds me of the Town Square set.
But the difference is, it's better (my opinion only)
Maybe a good price if it came with road plates like when I was a kid . I still collect Lego to this day (😀1979 to today space and city.)
That Icecream vehicle has more contrast than the Swedish flag
LEGO should have scrapped the crane and extended the museum to also be a 16x16 set IMO. The museum is a massive disappointment. I bought 60008 (City Museum) and while it wasn't amazing, it was much much better than whatever the museum in this city is.
It's a shame, because I like all the little pieces which come with it - the kiosk, the cars and the skate park could all be nice additions.
Don’t forget to thank the bus driver
Lego should release a modular hotel set. That would be a lot of fun
Agreed.
23:31 so smooth lol.
Funky_Player2 right! I just noticed that
Were you saying that because he spins the box around?
That’s a brutally honest - and spot on - review Jang! You nailed my problem with this set. It is disjointed. It’s mostly ok but makes no sense in such a pricey set. Broken down I’d take 3/5 of it happily. But as is, no sadly. A shame given how good previous equivalents of this have been.

TheBrickNut30 ya only the bus I want because Lego makes good buses
Lego should make a creator expert museum
This is DEFINITELY not worth it!!! I got my Old Fishing Store for about the same price with nearly TWICE the piece count! I also got my Parisian Restaurant for only $10 more than this with perhaps more than twice the pieces! If I want to spend that much money on a set, I'll get a Creator modular!

Jang you should definitely consider building a lego museum, I think it would turn out great

Bob Dickens Man That crane was cool. I never had it but it looked cool. Plus city corner is really good and I really wanted it. Never got it in the end but oh well. I do however think that there are many great sets in the Lego city theme recently.
4:39 "This is a toy for kids" most honest statment an AFOL ever made...
I find it so weird that LEGO is using orange soccer balls to represent basketballs even though they do have a basketball mold. 8:21 “it’s apingapiagioape”
*jang.exe has stopped working*
Wait... the cave man is Cole!
IcebearTV plot twist
This is a must buy from me as it has a ton of material for my City and at $150 it is a must buy. It is a shame that all we get are half buildings but I can incorporate them into other half buildings of my own.
The Hotel was the best part in my opinion, that sticker and that minifigure are very useful for Hotel MOCs
In many places capital city is synonymous with big city, here in Australia our state capitals are all the largest cities in their respective states, so maybe they mean capital like that, but still weird in a line already called city.
"These are traffic barricades! Yay!"
I doubt anyone here has even been this excited before.
I really like half of the set.
YES!!!!!! YOU FINALLY ARE REVIEWING THIS SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I just feel like this set was a little too ambitious. It tried to do too much so the individual components just weren’t as good as they could have been
I would have ditched the crane for a bigger museum. Or ditched the museum entirely for a nice park with trees, benches, and brick fences.
23:32 is the kind of production value I return for time-and-time again (insert Shia LaBeouf clapping gif)
Brick First : Agreed. The one with the light rail and the car dealership was awesome.

Its the thypical city mega booster pack of every year i think we need a city series that not only includes vehicles(like the 80% of city sets)we need multiple sets of small building to complete citys
The caveman display immediately reminded me of Otzi the iceman
I think the price of this is perfectly fine and this works as a nice city starter for people who are just starting to create their own LEGO city.
Am I the only one who saw that museum building and immediately thought that it was a "work in progress" because the other exhibitions were coming from the current Lego City Arctic sets? Surely the specimens that they are collecting are designed to go into that museum! As such I think it is great just as it is!
Garethjames987 nope I thought the same thing the first time I saw this set.
Lego should make a Museum as the 2019 Advanced Modular
Your end of video analysis was SPOT ON! Thanks Jang!
the thought process that you went through to create a price for each and add them up as a whole is really smart for a set of this nature and interesting. just out of curiosity is there a particular reason why you don't review many sets from the likes of elves, friends and Disney princesses?
thebrickinator they probably don't do aswell
You can use the sabertooth cat or mammoth from the Arctic sets
Jarvis Atkins Nice idea
I think the police officer should operate the ice cream cart... "you've been served."
This totally reminds me of the lego town set from the 80s that never got a release . I'm going to pass on this one but the stickers are very cool !
I'm surprised they didn't make this for lego friends .
The way the blue sporty car is made it looks like you can put it on sideways to make it look like a door.
Oh JANG. "Aping a Piaggio Ape". What a phrase!
I think the smaller car is just an altered color of the small city car that came in it's own box before. I remember in the game it was the "Smallesimo." I do wish I could get that blue sports car on it's own.
It's also the same car from the double decker set from the first lego movie
To Be Honest, I Would Keep The Rest But Smash The Poor Excuse For A Museum, However Those Glass panes Would Come In handy.
In reality a clear gearbox is good so when it's broken you can tell what's wrong without taking it apart, it also looks cool but that's besides the point
Waited and waited for a sale.. Finally grabbed one at 30% off. No regerts
That’s about where it makes sense in terms of price per part. This set is way over priced at msrp.
if the museum is ice age based then maybe you could add the ice age animals from the other logo city sets from this year then you are expanding the museum
This is where GNAJbricks would say, that lonely seat is perfect for my real life... *silence
can relate.
with that museum you could display the frozen animals you've collected from the arctic line that came out a while ago. I think that what they were going for, kinda to bridge the gap between all the lego city themes.
Eli Awsomidity I agree, that's where the caveman comes in.
They should just give us 2-3 normal cars, and keep the bus but remove the skate park and add a truck
if lego were to make a modular building, it really should be either a hotel or a museum. I'd prefer to see a hotel, cause I have a fair amount of people who are living in their cars or campers. A hotel or even an apartment building would be nice. Also, at 13:19. What was that noise.
errrr
Oh my gosh YES. Or maybe a train station? I have the same issue. I’m only 15 so I can’t just go buy 30 modulate like half the LEGO UA-camrs do. I’d take a hotel over a museum as well
@Leonardo Giordano They have already made many modular buildings
I'm looking forward to buying this set. I think all those things that come with this would look perfect in my Lego city display. Especially the Hotel, looking forward to that!
Same.
IMO these sets would be 10x better with a baseplate.
Like this, they just look like a bunch of 10$ sets put side to side
it looks like it offers a lot of playability at least, kind of like those big arctic / jungle sets. probably better for siblings yeah, as everyone gets something to play with.
That gives me an idea. LEGO should totally do an full on museum. History, Art, Science it should all be in there!
In my store in AUS it was on shelves 4 a week and it cost a LOT of money! Good review though, it was very detailed. I agree the museum was a fail.
I love that set also you reached over 1000000subcribers great job
Orange Emmet's car, props on Lego for still having that great build of a basic modern car
I like how many times in a year Lego released the same smart car with different color and roof variation
Why couldn't they forgot the half pipe and use those parts for the museum.
Great review as usual.
The museum parts will do to an extension of city hospital :-)
Noice... But no purpose for me 2 use.
how come you get replies and yet i don't when i say the EXACT same comment?
12:51 I think the size of those rooms is pretty accurate to the size of hotel rooms in real life.
I really like the blue car and the crain other than that i dont want anything else i will probably get the part list and brick link the builds. Thanks for the review!
Disappointing set but a fantastic review. Figures are nice, and plentiful. Love it when you throw humour and extra personality in. :)
I for one love this set! My city could use a little museum, and it definitely needs a hotel :)
Those hop on hop off busses look exactly like the ones they have in Norway/Denmark, really cool how they could have been inspired by the local tourism
Thanks Jang for the nice review. I waited for this one quite a while. I also really appreciate the advice you always have. Keep it up.
Lego made that crane because they don't want to put stuff in buildings included to the set example town square
U should make a custom hotel and museum
True 🙂
Really wish we got a hotel modular rather than it being here. They could've added to the museum here and made a nice hotel modular.
Well they still can make a hotel modular
That's a lot of clear 1 by 2s on the roof of the hotel.
I think I'll wait for the Lowercase City set.
Tenitrus 😂
They used OG Coles face for the caveman! The nostalgia is real👌
The tour bus is the only part I like about this set
If only the hotel was a set on its own. :(
I think the set is an addition to a capital city.
But I do like the hotel and vehicles the most
0:27 Did Lego really misspell slice?
That could be the denmarkian spelling of it. Lol
Denmarkian? Really
*danish
CONGRATS ON ONE MILLION!! 🎉 🎉 🎉
the caveman uses Cole's old head print. anyone notice that?
Wolfgang yes.
Wolfgang I can imagine LEGO has unused things to get rid of
Wolfgang accross a season of sets I notice that i aquire stockpile of particular pieces. That's Legos way of getting rid of things and its perfectly fine by me. They have over abundance on a part, im always happy to collect
Yes
Yes lol but why I mean I know people joke about Coles face having bushy eyebrows and calling him caveman but lego has now done it but still
LOL! Loving the snark on those barricades @10:07
I think that this is very much a running theme with these expensive "collection" type of boxes where if split to smaller builds and sold seperately, they would actually be very reasonable. just not as this huge mess
If you put an older man's head on the gray suit minifig, especially with a hotdog in hand, reminds me of Ben Matlock.
I think the bus and hotdog stand should be one set
Hotel skateboard and stands one set
