  • The new compact version of the P320 has lots of features out of the box, and a great size for almost everything, but its it reliable?

One of the more appealing elements of THO is the understated humor. Couple that with the brutal but fare critiques, and, of course, the most excellent camera skills of Mrs. Outlaw, and you have one of the very top quality gun channels available on UA-cam. Thank you very much.

I've put about 2,000 rounds through my P320 X Compact since I bought the gun in June and have yet to have a malfunction. I've used 115, 124 and 147 FMJ and also 124 and 147 JHP. No issues with any of them.

I spent the whole of last week in MN shooting every other day, didn't have a single stovepipe or malfunction at all with 115 grain, through my x Carry, my buddy didn't have a single malfunction in his x Compact with 124 grain. all FMJ.

did he say 95gr ? 9mm sig recommends 115gr minimum for proper cycle. in my Handbook for my P320

    • @aleffel9668
      @aleffel9668 2 роки тому

Also said he shot a ton of that stuff and had no issues in any other gun. Gr shouldn’t matter in terms of cycling as long as it’s not some weak load like a subsonic. Only had 1 issue so it’s not that big of a deal as long as it’s not his carry ammo.

I made my P320 Subcompact into (almost) one of these. Don’t have the optic cut or X-Ray sights (it has the old night sights). Hooray for modularity! Bought the X-Compact grip and X trigger and I was off to the races. This is, without a doubt, the grip size that fits my hand best and feels terrific shooting. My son has slightly larger hands and it’s his favorite, too.
Since I got my X-Carry in ‘18 I’ve retrofitted all my P320’s to X grips and X triggers and the improvement in feel and shooting is amazing. I think improved geometry and slight reduction in circumference high on the grip have helped reduce that “rocking horse” recoil effect you mentioned in the Best $500 Gun video from the other day. I know you’re right, I started calling it “rocking horse” when I got a P229 in ‘08, much more pronounced there than the original P320 and even less with the X grip so I think Sig has been working to mitigate the problem. And, with 4 P320s in different sizes (full, compact, X-Carry and X-Compact) I still have yet to have a malfunction I can blame strictly on the guns; and only a couple with my potentially problematic handloads. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Anyway, fun video on a great gun!

I got one about a year ago, cant remember any problems, one of my favorite guns, accurate, never even knew it had thingie in the way. I think the sights are very good. Course I haven't noticed thingie in the way, hope I don't start seeing it all of a sudden. I liked it better before I finally bought another PPQ after several years just about a month ago, now the PPQ is very good also. Just bought a P-07 two months ago because of your love for it and a few other reviewers as well. It's different, I shoot real accurate, sometimes, but usually have to put 15 expensive rounds through it before I start getting accurate. Not so with the PPQ and Sig. Keep up the great reviews. Maybe you can file off that thingie and like the gun as much as the rest of us do.

I have a the p320 RXP X Compact with Romeo 1 Pro and learned very quickly not to have a +1 or else it would jam (but it’s most likely my error since I didn’t read the manual right away). I like it better than the Springfield XD9-Mod.2 that I used to have and can shoot a little more accurately with the red dot, plus it teaches me to align the sights a little faster by finding the dot. Great review, btw. You got a new subscriber in me.

I have a p 320 sub compact. Bought the x5 compact grip mod, and now I have the same gun as the x5 compact without the loaded chamber indicator and the removable plate. And it has standard sig night sites. Love it. My favorite cary gun now. And I can always make it shorter in the grip by putting the sub compact grip module back on. But it only holds 12 in the mag in that configuration. But the x5 compact grip mod feels great in the hand. And I like the 15+1.

I think that's a fair assessment, I run the XCarry with the older full barrel and now the notched barrel and I'd take those over the raised LCI used on the XCompact. I also noticed that Sig changed the recoil spring design as well, but I'll need to see how the newer spring handles over the long haul. Great content as always!

When I picked that gun up I wanted to like it. I liked the sights, liked the grip and the trigger was excellent for a polymer gun. My groups mimicked yours. No matter what I tried, I could never tighten those groups up. Mine was very reliable but I just couldn’t get used to the high bore axis which slowed me down and my lack of ability to shoot it accurately. Wound up selling it. Good review.

I’m a big Sig Sauer and Honest Outlaw fan, and own a p365, p220, p226, p229 and Had a p320 compact (my very first gun). I liked the 320 and thought it shot fine, but I sold it after buying my first Legion (220 in .45). After shooting these Legions I can’t go back to p320, and only keep the 365 as a carry option. So I carry 365 and 229. No more plastic even with the FCU options. Thanks for another good one.

I agree. I have a 229 Elite and it's my favorite pistol in the stable. I just don't shoot composites as well. I know that doesn't really make sense, maybe it's a mental thing. I just prefer metal bodied pistols. Which sucks because though I love the 229, she's a tank.

However, I have about 600 rounds through my Compact, with NO FTE's(Extract), FTE's(Eject) or FTF's(Feed) for those who don't kno the acronyms. I only shoot 115gr. or higher though, and also only shoot standard pressure ammo as well. I have always found with any Sig I shoot, it has always been much more beneficial to use 115gr. with standard or a little higher pressure loadings. I have a M18 and it have work perfectly, over 1500 and no malfunctions. But I have to clarify. I been using only NATO specs rounds (124g +P FMJ) or 136g. Take in consideration that the P320 (M17/18) series was made as a weapon system for the military, and the key word is system in the military that demand all parts work as a whole. I understand if is not desirable for civilian use but is how the military is been working for decades and for a reason . About accuracy it’s pretty consistent. My shooting group is very consistent and yes the weapon is not zeroed out of the box but is workable. I saw several friend having your same malfunction problems with M17/18 and P320 of all sorts, but after a good break in the gun works great and supper reliable. Still great review and work.

I own this gun and have had zero issues. I don't have any problems with the sights & the loaded chamber indicator has never gotten in my way. Mine shoots exactly where I aim. If Im off, its shooter error not the gun. I primarily shoot 115 gr S&B because that's whats available to me right now.

Don't get the version with the chamber indicator.....lol. I personally LOVE Sigs but didn't care for the trigger on my new P320 XFive Legion at all. MUSHY!! So I sent it off to The Sig Armorer and got a competition trigger job and BAM! This is now one of the best, if not the best, trigger I've ever worked. And to say that is a lot, been shooting professionally for over 30yrs starting in the Marines through police departments, the FAMs, and other unmentionable contracting gigs. I just got a Sub Compact slide, XCompact frame, and made my XFive Legion into a SubCompact...lovin' it!

I have my p320 rxp x compact for about three months. The iron sights shoot low but the red dot makes it fun. In the summer I feel it is too large to carry with the red dot on it. Maybe when it gets colder I will carry it more? It is a very nice pistol though. I have not had any malfunction with about 700 rounds of 115/124 gr blazer brass. My p320 x5 legion had great iron sights and was very accurate. Recently put a romeo 1 pro red dot on it which is fun but I sure do miss the adjustable dawson precision rear sight I took off to install the optic.

Get your sight pusher out and move the back site to the right. All my sigs are off until I shoot and adjust them. So are the colts smiths rugers etc.

I put a Wilson combat grip module on my m18. Great improvement. I honestly believe the WC grips are comparable to the x series grips from sig if not maybe even better

"We have about a 15 mile per hour cross wind so it shouldn't be an issue. Maybe it will."
Yeah, Sigs and I run hot and cold accuracy wise by model.

Same here. I'm deadeye with the old metal frame models like the 229. But I can't hit shit with the 320s. Some guns just lend themselves better to my shooting style than others.

Same here. Turned 21 a week ago. Word of warning, I can't find one anywhere. If I were you in about a week have someone of age order it. And if you haven't already get your new ID ordered as your pre 21 one won't register correctly.
      Sincerely you from the future

Good review. I had a P250 and sold it because I shot high right all the time. Thought it was the DAO trigger. Tested a P320 and same results. Really hoping the cuts on the 320xc would change it up but I dunno now. This is the only family of guns I have had this issue with lol.

I always appreciate your reviews. You seem to have really shitty luck with SIGs. The X Compact is my edc and I’ve never had a failure with it, and it hits where I aim it. Same situation with the M17 and M18. No problems for me with either gun. I look forward to your 1000rd review.

I know just what you're saying I don't shoot as well as you do but I'm getting that left & low as well, do you think the chassis has a little movement while the bullets leaving the barrel, did you experience that with the beretta apx ? , I only have 300 rds in it, haven't had a stove pipe but keeping my finger crossed, I like how it shoots , but I'm regulated to one gun in Jamaica, we haven't been able to get the flat triggers or grip modules here as yet, but for us is hitting center mass

It shoots quite flat given its high bore axis, did you perhaps shoot non frangible ammo? Like 115gr or 124gr? If so how was the recoil impulse

I like the M-18 myself. However, the X Compact is just out of stock for around $545 or seen one in stock for $728. That's a bit too crazy, even during these times. Can't find 9mm ammo anywhere also.. Much less other ammo

I shoot the Sig P320 well, but I have bad luck with their suppressor height iron sights. They slowly move while shooting. First it was the front sight, then I brought a new slide and new sights and now it’s the back sight. I’ve never had any stove pipes though.

It’s common to have a few failures during the break in. Be interested in seeing the 1000 round review an get an update. My 365 XL shoots low an to the left, and I agree the sights are not my favorite (only 100 rounds through it). My P220’s have no such issues. 😬
