  • Has Dave actually got a good Tuono or has he just been kidding himself? Only way to find out is to borrow an immaculate low mileage Tuono Factory and go for a back to back road test.
    Big thanks to Skiddy for the loan of his lovely bike, but which is better to ride?

    Thoroughly enjoyed the whole of the Tuono Big Ugly series. The detailing was First Class.
    Many thanks for posting.

    It’s always worth the extra for the Factory, you get it back when you sell it.
    Either bikes are great value for the money they cost.

    You can pull those Ohlins forks all the way up to the last ring and it'll be much nicer in the bends , don't worry it'll tip in, it won't. !

    Great bikes , my only concern is , what happens to the exhaust system if you slide the bike ?
    Is everything ruined?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  6 місяців тому

      It's generally better not to crash them 😂
      The systems are split, so you'd only have to fix one side

    Everyone likes the Akrapovic cans but they no longer make them for the gen 2. My solution is the Mivv Suono which give the bike a proper sound

    What bars did you go for? They look good, I'd like something a bit wider on my G2 tuono.
    Thanks.

    We own 4 Tuono's; An '03 Gen RSV, '08 Gen2 RR, '08 Gen2 Factory & '21 V4 1100 RR vids of each on my channel. Several other bikes incl '19 Speed Triple 1050RS & all the good KTM Duke's.

    Did you happen to know the Ohlins suspension settings for the Tuono? Im really lousy with suspension settings, I had it perfectly set up but when it went to Aprilia for fork service they didn't record the settings and gave it back to me a ROYAL mess. In addition, the manual doesn't even state the baseline settings therefore, I have nothing to go by. Thank you
    The Aprilia forums were that much of a help either....many sate the settings for track days and not for real world street riding.

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't check the base settings, but I'm surprised they're not in the workshop manual.
      A good suspension tech will be able to set it up for you, probably better than standard

  • @Leemonty187
    @Leemonty187 3 роки тому +1

    Cant you add some preload and compression to stiffen the suspension?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  3 роки тому +2

      I did some setup work on Skid's bike after the test and got it much better.
      If I'm being pedantic adding preload doesn't make it stiffer, only stiffer springs do that. Adding preload just reduces sag so the fork is working in a different position. But it does sometimes come across as a harder ride

    i have a 2009 factory and the wheels are not made by oz anymore i think they changed in 2006 the later ones were made in Russia the make is stamped on the rim

    • @bryansuperduke1290r
      @bryansuperduke1290r 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, the gold wheels on later bikes not OZ but still forged.

    It transforms a bike have the suspension worked on by someone why knows what there doing, n how parts work. I’m luck having Rev’s on my doorstep. I recommend anyone to go and have these set up, Do you set aside a day for ride ins to come and let you tune? 👍

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  3 роки тому +1

      I don't usually dedicate a day to ride in setup work but can happily fit customer work in to suit them

    Question.. I have the chance this week to grab a 2004 tuono factory he says it is... I know nothing about them or even if he says what it actually is. Should I look out for anything in particular... Cheers

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  Рік тому +1

      Usual stuff really, service history and general condition is more important than low miles.
      The mileage can reset if the battery is disconnected too long, so check mot history to see if it's real miles

      @@obsession_engineering I think Dave meant to type "wise" and I have to agree..way too much bling and doesn't even match the wheels or forks.....I have been looking at carbon fibre covers for the gold frame! Skiddy

      I almost bought an 07 factory but decided the red/ white check with the gold frame and wheels looked like a clown's bike>
      Managed to find an sunet orange r with an ohlins rear and akro exhaust (baffles in) and I am very pleased.
      Dave's videos have been imensely helpful, getting it closer, but the suspenions still not right. Fronts much better, but the rear isnt and when the shock gets hot, turns to ShXt!
      Need an exhaust shield, so does Dave!
      Maybe he'll do the work and pass it on, I'm just sayin!
