  • The Grim Fate Of Jaehaera Targaryen, the little queen, the last living child of King Aegon ii, as just a big of a scandal as it was a mystery the both the small folk and those living in the wall of the red keep would talk about to this very day. Who and why would anyone want to murder the little queen, the list of suspects was long and there reasons endless, that is if it was even murder at all, she very may well have taken her own life.

    Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

    I personally doubt she did it herself. She is frightened and isolated, yes, but that's because she has developed major anxiety and trauma after all she's seen and heard. As said in the text, "she seemed content to stay in her chambers with her maids and playing with her dolls". This makes me think that while clearly she isn't well, she isn't prone to throw herself from a window, either. This is contrasted against Aegon III. If anyone *were* to throw themselves from a window, I think Aegon III would be more likely to do that, as he is traumatized and has depression (there is literally nothing he enjoys doing, as opposed to Jaehaera's contentment to play).

    If Jaehaera had killed herself she had plenty of reason to. Her brother was beheaded before her eyes, she was kept under lock and key by her aunt, her mother killed herself out of grief, her father was poisoned, she was forcibly married to a cousin she barely knew, and she was forced to be queen at the age of 8.
    If it had been someone else like Unwin Peake then it is very possible. Removing her from the picture before she could come of age to give birth would be beneficial for anyone ambitious enough to put their own daughters in the king's bed. Also, there were many blacks and people in general who were denied revenge against her father.
    Honestly, I could see either side.

    I hate with all my heart House Peake, they were so ambitious, always rebelling against the crown, siding with the Blackfyres (I’m loyal to House Targaryen and not to the Red pretenders) they even tried to claim the Kingdom of the Reach during the reign of an old Gardener King who had only daughters (and last but not least they had a huge part in exiling House Manderly from the Reach). As a fan and supporter of Team Green i hate Unwin Peake, he killed the last legal member of the Green branch (it is sure that there are still descendants of Aegon II as he had many bastards and the progeny of Aemond and Alys Rivers so somehow the line survived), killing the poor girl and dying in that way…. Truly hate that man and in the end his daughter didn’t marry Aegon III, fortunately. One of the worst and most hateful character in my opinion

    Velaryons likely murdered her using faceless men as the quote says in chapter before :
    "The mission to Braavos proved eventful in other ways as well. Lord Follard became enamored of a Braavosi courtesan and elected to remain close to her rather than return to Westeros, Ser Herman Rollingford was killed in a duel by a bravo who took offense at the color of his doublet, and Ser Denys Harte supposedly engaged the services of the mysterious Faceless Men to kill a rival back in King’s Landing, Mushroom asserts."
    Her lord husband, Ser Corwyn Corbray, brought the girl forward. A gasp went through the hall. “Lady Daenaera of House Velaryon,” boomed out the herald, somewhat hoarsely, “daughter of the late and lamented Daeron of that house and his lady wife, Hazel of House Harte, also departed, a ward of Lady Baela of House Targaryen and Alyn the Oakenfist of House Velaryon, Lord Admiral, Master of Driftmark, and Lord of the Tides.”

    Jaehaera's death imo is one of the worst decisions GRRM's made. The coming together of Green and Black is such a perfect end to the dance. Not to mention that if Jaehaera is the mother of Aegon III's kids then the Green line actually continues in the Blackfyres, making the Blackfyre rebellions a continuation of the Dance, which is just so cool. I really hope don't kill Jaehaera in HotD.

      I don't think that's the case.
      If anything, Viserys betrayed the Realm by spitting in the face of the Council that made him the King in the first place. It wasn't a betrayal on the Green's part. And not to mention, it's not like Daemon and Rhaenyra's Line is free from all faults either, considering they lead to people like Aegon the Unworthy and Aerys the Mad King. Hell, it even branches out to the Blackfyre Rebellion, and House Blackfyre is often stated to be the greatest threat that House Targaryen ever faced, despite the Black's and Green's being the ones that incited a Civil War that lead the Dragons to their Extinction.
      But hey, even if you're right, then that means this logic can go for Rhaenyra's side as well;
      The possibility that Rhaenyra's first 3, Strong sons dying could've intentional too, in order to ensure the main Line of both House Targaryen and Velaryon wasn't supplanted by "the Pups of House Strong", as Vaemond put it.
      I suppose it all depends on how one views the situation
      Even then, Rhaena marries a Hightower man from what I remember, and she had like, 6 daughters till she died, so how does that factor into your theory here?

      @rodrigomenezesprado9738 Рік тому +8

      @@thalmoragent9344 I can't help but feel like you're bringing some other baggage to this discussion.
      Rhaena's children were never heard of or laid out in any way, therefore they were never considered for the Iron throne, as far as we know. Even if they were, you can't really say they belonged to the green's side since they were born after the Dance.
      Rhaenyra and Daemon barely raised their own children-how can they be at fault for the bad deeds of their descendents? By that logic, they could also be held responsible for the good kings that came before them, but that makes no sense at all. We're explicitly discussing the matters of the Dance and it's fallout, pay attention.
      The fact is: the Dance of the Dragons was orchestrated by the green side, mainly Otto. And the conflict ended with the extinction of his own heirs and bloodline. GRRM could've kept Jaehaera alive, but instead killed her and introduced Daenaera to be the Queen. I think that is very telling, symbolizing how the greens ultimately failed.

      No, Otto wasn't the only one against Daemon, and nearly all the others on the Small Council agreed. Daemon wouldn't have been a good king and he was a dangerous man.
      Rhaenyra was chosen as a temporary option, no more.
      And why do you guys make it seem like Otto was doing anything other than what just about any other lord in the Realm would've?
      He served the king as well as himself, like 90% of any High Lords would. Corlys is so hungry for the Throne he was willing to expire his own main Velaryon line just for the sake of some connection with the Throne, and yet hardly a single fan ever calls Corlys out for it
      Corlys offered his daughter to the King just as Otto did, he fought for a marriage between his house and house Targaryen just as Otto did, if not MORE... so why is Otto getting singled out here??

      I dunno, Daemon's shown to be one to kill anyone he sees as inconvenience or doesn't like. His first wife, Vaemond, that random guy at Driftmark who was just taking a stroll in the castle, etc...
      As for Helaena, I'm fairly sure we know the situation with her, but hey, could be wrong

    I think the show will do something different with Jaehaera’s death and they will have her die a big sooner while Alicent is still alive or they might make Alicent live slightly longer for her to hear the news that her last living descendant is dead. I think that will serve as one symbolic poetic justice of what scheming can cause devastation to your family. I think that the final death in her family will truly break Alicent and make her realize that her and her fathers plan did not come to fruition and it cost the lives of her loved ones. Because after the war, she was locked up and spending the rest of her days in Maegor’s Holdfast because her allies had turned on her and her son Aegon. She was in captivity because Tyland Lannister, a Green, wanted protection for the new regime of Aegon III, a Black. She died completely powerless than she ever was and she would have to bear the thought that even though her son wouldn’t have been the king of westeros, at least he and the rest of her children and grandchildren maybe would have been alive had they let Rhaenyra just ascend the throne without conflict. The show should defintley let Alicent still be alive during Jaehaera’s death becuase that would be a lot more poetic and hard hitting to watch that final domino of your family die in front of your eyes. And think about it the war completely decimated the entire Green faction within 4 years 129AC-133AC. So the Greens, in my opinion, definitely did not win because their goal itself was not to make sure that everyone goes by male precedent, that was just their main weapon of legitimization of their claimant Aegon to take the throne. The real ambitions of Otto and Alicent were for the Hightowers to become more powerful through the Targaryen-Hightower line to rule the Iron throne forever. The Dance of Dragons was all about the battle of the bloodline. And they completely lost that goal because thanks to their plotting their line was decimated within a pathetic 4 year timespan and Rhaenyra’s bloodline triumphed but at a great cost because the dragons went extinct but the blacks at least prevailed over the Greens and their personal pursuit of the dominating bloodline.

    And that's how the green's bloodline ended.

    The amount of people in reddit whining about how Martin shouldn't have killed her, and that it would have been "poetic" for Daemon Blackfyre to have been the last legacy of the Greens living as a bastard branch is honestly mind boggling.
    Like, it's ASOIAF. What did you expect? Martin set the tone for the series (for me at least) the moment one of the main characters (Ned) was killed in the first book.
    Sure, it's a "poetic" sentiment if Jaehaera had lived, and George has done some "poetic" shit in the series overtime. But most of the time, bad things happen to just about anyone. Why? Because...because bad things happen to literally anyone in real life, regardless of station? People forget that in spite of the fantasy elements Martin has put into his works, it's still set in reality.
    Like, you got Arthur Dayne, right? Dude's this perfect knight; honorable, just, strong, handsome, the best swordsman to ever live, and all around a good person according to everyone that knew him. This would be a perfect character for a protagonist to meet in the future and learn from, right? So what does Martin do? He kills him before the story even starts.
    This is a world where the greatest of men, wielding the greatest of weapons, often meet their end in the most unsatisfactory ways. It's just something you learn to accept while reading about this world.
    And if you don't want to accept it? That's fine. There's always fanfiction, I guess. So go nuts.

      Aegon III and Jaehaera marring is realistic.
      The war of the roses literally ended with Hanery Tudor the last member of house Lancaster married to Elizabeth of York the last child of Edward IV.
      Having the Green bloodline live on only be have Daena usurped for being a women just like Rhaenyra was and for them to live on through the Blackfyres a house of bastards is a much better ending than having a traumatised autistic 6 year old girl violently murdered and then having some random deus ex machina Velaryon girl we have never heard of or seen before show up and fix everything.
