  • Viserra Targaryen was much like her elder sister, how she knew how to play Jaehaerys in such a way to get away with it. Her Mother Queen Alyssane was not so easily fooled. But this tale of one teenager Vanity only has one end. In the muddy streets of kings landing, no such fate any princess should have found herself in. Much if the information has come from The World Of Ice and Fire as well as fire and blood, set in geroge r r matrins World Of Westeros.

I am trying to keep replying to every comment but each week this is getting harder and harder to do. But i will do my best. I will always try and respond to every comment, however, sometimes i don't get notified about replies so it may take longer. I am also aware of the typo in the title of the video, i noticed it while checking the metadata and such. sadly i did not have the time to re-render the whole video tonight, i will keep a better lookout going forward. thanks a lot for your support.

Poor Queen Alysanne...I can't even imagine losing so many of your children, she must have felt so alone and sad and knowing that she will never see Saera again. No parent should have to go through that.

HBO needs to do a series about King Jaehaerys & Queen Alysanne. They had a crazy wild family of 10 kids, theres so much juicy material here, it writes itself! Jae/Aly/ crazy daughters = solid gold TV!

If they ever do a spin off for them it has to be around that era where they have 10 kids running about then seeing them slowly die of. Could lead into HOTD nicely

That would be a nice family drama show.
The violence would probably be toned down a bit since the majority of Jaehaerys’s reign was peaceful. I wouldn’t mind though because he’s one of my favorite kings.

Why was an old, widowed man the choice for Viserra? I would imagine that both Jaehaerys and Alysanne were not looking for the heir to a House to have dragon blood. Lord Manderly already had heirs and had a rich port by then and besides it was well thought of by the Queen herself, Viserra having children with that Lord could have been a way of extending the family, formalising alliances and possible future marriages (echoing Daella and Rodrick, and Lord Arryn had previous children, but even so, Daella was presented with options before, I suppose it was probably this case that inspired them to follow the same course) without having to face another established House with Valyrian blood, they already had the Velaryons in their confidence for that.

Why waste Viserra on an old Manderly lord, who had one foot in the grave already. Why not promise her to a young Stark, Lannister, Tyrell, or even a Martell (which would have probably brought them into the realm a hundred years earlier than they did). And wasn't Aemon still alive at the time, so how was Viserra gonna become queen by marrying Baelon. Unless she would have had Aemon killed. I'm sure even Corlys was still single at this time too.

When you brake it down there really is a lot a flaws in the idea of marrying her to Maderly. Maybe it's the fact fire and blood is a history book and a lot of finer details are missing. But on there surface level it does seem a bit of a strange choice

Giving dragon blood to a major house that were kings until you got there is a horrendous idea. Giving said dragon blood to a lesser house who’s far less powerful, and to a man who may die before he fathers any children, secures the safety of Targ power and keeps dragon controlling powers out of the hands of anyone who may actually be able to challenge Targs. Especially since Viserra wanted to be queen and would use her husband’s powers to their fullest extent.
Can you imagine what would have happened if a Stark had a dragon and the entire north rallied behind them? It could end or hugely damage the dynasty

    • @thegreatpage5912

@@emilybarclay8831 A Stark child with a dragon is no different from a Manderly child with a dragon. With that power who's too say said lesser house won't be tempted to overthrow their liege lords someday. i.e the Manderly's attempt to usurp the Starks because of their blood connections to the kings. Remember the tale of Hugh the Hammer. There are what ifs in just about every scenario.
Dragon blood means nothing without a dragon. And all the dragons are South in Kingslanding. Viserra was a prized Targaryen princess (said to be the must beautiful of Jaeherys daughters) they was basically going to waste. The Dynasty was still in its infancy (less than 100 years old) and needed to form bridges with greater houses. The Tyrells owed their passion and power to the Targaryens. The Tyrell heir would have been the best match for her.

@@emilybarclay8831 Even if that is the case, marrying your daughter to a 9,000 year old man is throwing your prized flower in the dirt as Olenna Tyrell would say. Virginity was a prized commodity in this world. If your going to marry her into a minor house, you could at the very less chose one with a young able bodied lord.
Also for a character like Alyssane who is a known feminist who values her daughters rights and opinions. This seems a little out of character for her.

I am confused as to why Alysanne outright infers that Baelon will be king with Aemon, Jocelyn and Rhaenys existing? She is basically saying that Aemon will not have any male children with Jocelyn and that Rhaenys would naturally not come before Baelon, so why does she quarrel with Jaehaerys for putting Baelon first later on when its what she thinks anyway?
