These are such calming films to watch. ...The theme music! , the soothing narration to camera, the well edited shots. ...I feel like I'm there with you. Very relaxing 🙂
Another marvelous cruise. Thanks so much for bringing us (and whatever ghosts) along. Just watched Sailing Skismo's latest, and was heartened to hear his comment upon his culinary attempt: "In the words of Paul, from Sailing Kate Louise, 'It's really very nice.' "
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I’m hoping to have my first sailing dinghy soon, and this is where I’ll be launching the vast majority of my adventures.
Wonderful adventure & commentary once again Paul & Lemon Tree Passage looks like a laid back place. Great waterways for sailing. Thanks again Paul & hopefully didn't drive that road at night!!
Morning Paul, thanks for another interesting video,it makes a great start to Sunday morning here in the UK. Lemon tree passage looks like another great place to sail. And it just goes to show the flexibility of the small boats in the fleet you sail with. So it looks like fair weather for the time of the year, good sailing good small boats and great people. What more can you ask for? Hope you managed to get the outboard sorted out, they often let us down when we need them most. Best wishes Geoff
Thanks Geoff, yes the cable had a bit of corrosion, but all sorted now. I'm in the U.K. in October staying in Reading. If you are anywhere near there we should catch up for a beer, cheers Paul
I don't know how I missed this one but I am glad that I found it! I got the bonus of two Sailing Kate Louise videos in one day and they were both as enjoyable and therapeutic as ever! Thanks for taking us along and the way I understand it that bacon and egg roll is pure vegetable, wink, wink. Beware the ghost that plays with your outboards and as always Paul, Thanks and cheers mate!!...........⛵⛵⛵
Send me some photos of the build to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com We are very lucky with winters on the East coast of Australia, mainly clear skies and dry and it's too cold for jet skis Cheers Paul.
Thankyou Paul. I do enjoy your videos. This one has conviced me to return to the passage to resume our cruse that was interupted due to covid. It is strange tha you also had problems with your motor, We also had trouble with ours. Turned out to be fuel blockage in the carbuetter. Cheers Rodger.
Another great video from another great place. We are very lucky in NSW to have such ready access to RAID suitable locations. It is on my list of places to sail for when the opportunity arises.
Thanks for sharing your adventures, solo is never easy especially with filming and all the logistics involved but you do make it look the very best way to spend some time.
Good to see this part of the world through someone else's eyes! I wish I had seen you blokes out on the water, but I only happened past when you were packing up in the car park. Had a brief chat to John about his Explorer, and he pointed me to your YT channel. I watched this video closely for a glimpse of my Finn 8 on its mooring in the passage, but it must have ended up on your out-takes. Watching your videos is a good substitute for being on the water. (Can't be out there every day.) You should ask your companions for footage of Kate Louise underway to show off how pretty she is. PS Nice attempt at boarding the Wangi Queen! Almost worthy of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Fantastic video, new subscriber here. Just got an oday javelin 14’ tomorrow is the first sail! Hopeful for a camping cruise later this summer. Be well.
Great video. I just got an 14 ft. Odey Javelin this summer and I am learning how to sail it. It has been most enjoyable. Watching these videos gives me great insight into sailing and techniques and different ways to rig the dingy. All I have left to figure out is the outboard motor. As of now we are rowing and that doesn't work out very well in any kind of wind. Best wishes and fair winds. I look forward to the next raid..!!
Fascinating intro Paul I'll have to watch the movie... As always enjoyed your video. Thanks . Great to meet up at LTP . Hope the weather is good for Myall Lakes.
yes the ghost lives on.....actually it was a dodgy cable that some WD40 fixed. You are meant to spray it every month and being a male I never read the manual, cheers Paul
Hey Paul .. enjoyed Lemon 🍋 Tree 🌳 Passage .. Ghosts, Gremlins n a great 👍 video. Been following our local Salish 100 (miles) joint in canoes, open n closed dinghy’s n sailboat ⛵️ under 21 ‘. The tiny fleet of vessels travels from our State Capital Olympia 100 miles generally northward with nightly stops about every 12 to max of 16 miles per day n ends in 9 days at Pt Townsend on the famous Straits of Juan de Fuca. I’m hopeful wishing to have My Michelle ready for the 2024 July summer event if health is okay n I can get someone to care give that week plus. If not I’ll still follow the group via internet in drydock. Cheer Mate, Nick.
Excellent stuff Paul, Where I come from BOAT stands for Break Open Another Tinny, and I always selebrate a successfull passage, no mater how short or long. So pleased you had Bacon and Eggs, I do worry about your diet some times.
Hi Gene and Holly, yes it surfaced right next to me and scared the living daylights out of me. That's the nearest I've ever got to a dolphin. It was so quiet you could hear them breathing before you could see them....wonderful. I hope you liked the Farr 5000 bit, cheers Paul
You've done it again Paul given me yet another great Saturday morning rocking chsir sail. It may well be time to consider an alternative combustion for your back up. Just sayin.
Most ghostly lights only appeared after car headlights were invented - in places where a temperature inversion would reflect them a long distance. Mostly. Did you see any spooky lights on the water?
Paul. I know how much time and effort you put into these wonderful vids. Thank you. I notice that you have an electric outboard but seem to be getting towed more often than not, How about a rundown of what you and others are using to power along? My mate is coming out from Oz tomorrow and we are off on a 10 day 400 mile return trip up the NE coast of Japan. All the best gary
Hi Gary, my electric Torqueedo is 10 years old and doesn't have a read out, so I don't know how much power I have left in the batteries. A simple solution would be to get a Shunt and wire that in. But I'm planning on getting solar and hope the solar controller would do the same. At the moment grabbing a tow is the quick and easy option, cheers Paul
definitely gets bumpy between Lemon tree and across to Soldiers and Farm Cove when the Westerly drops in ( or even the easterly , dependent on season) Frank
You were very generous/diplomatic saying it was a bit cool, it was bloody freezing at times (and that`s from an ex Victorian). Good sailing and company though, just a pity there are not many places in Port Stephens to get ashore as a group to socialise around a campfire.
Hi well that was on the original design for the Stornaway 18 , I have thought about replacing with turnbuckles as the lashings do stretch a bit after time but haven't bothered yet....no other reason, cheers Paul
Another good trip with a bit of everything tossed in this time. Paul, do you or your cobbers ever have doubts about leaving your vehicles unattended in some of those parking areas while away for a couple of days?
Hi, sometimes if I can't back the trailer up against a post or fence, I put the wheel lock on especially if I'm going for a couple of nights. But you would have to be pretty low to steal a trailer knowing the pain it would cause. I have heard of people coming back to find the rollers have been removed, which is just as bad, cheers Paul
Nice trip. I notice you're not bashful about taking a tow, is your electric motor not up to the task? I should have waited till the end, I was a bit hasty there.
Yep I don't have a battery smart meter, so always like to keep some capacity in reserve....can't top up with more fuel mid sail, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
It has been cold, but the last few days in Sydney have hit 24, which is 8 degrees above the average.Spring doesn't officially start for another month, cheers Paul
Hi Chris well you must be aware of the story and only recently some more kids died in a car crash there. But on a positive note it's a lovely place and great access to the lake. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Well there was a great white at lake Macquarie where I sail but I've never seen it , others have( small great white that is). On the Hawkesbury there are Bull sharks which can be nasty but again I've never seen one and the water is murky. Best not think too much about sharks or I won't go sailing.....😂
These are such calming films to watch. ...The theme music! , the soothing narration to camera, the well edited shots. ...I feel like I'm there with you. Very relaxing 🙂

Excellent video Paul - not sure about the Lemon Tree legend but that save off the ferry was certainly the stuff legends are made of.
Ha ha very good! thanks for watching mate, cheers Paul

@@SailingKateLouise thanks legend for the video. I’ll definitely be building a another boat to join in.
Another excellent video, you keep inspiring me.
Thanks Gary, cheers Paul
You guys are tough going out on the water in the winter. Very inspiring. I hope to do the same this coming winter as my build is progressing nicely.
It’s not that cold in Sydney ;) come to Hobart for real cold! 😂😂😊
It was about 25 degrees in Sydney this weekend (although not when this video was shot)

cheers Paul

A fine lot of traditional small craft! Especially like the Bay Raider. Oh.. and you’re cutie!!

Yes I can't believe the weather over the last couple of days(compared to last week) 24 in Sydney. See you at Myall Lakes , cheers Paul
Paul, why do you guys use cordage to tension your shrouds instead of turnbuckles?
