Well I couldn't go sailing because of the weather and it's still raining. I normally never have the time to film tips, so I 'm glad you found this interesting, thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
Thanks heaps for the vacuum sealer demonstration - I think I'll invest in one for camping. That new gas burner you bought looks pretty decent. I loved the segments on the boat builds too. Thanks for filming and making. 🙏
Hi Torisaen, I could have attached a grill in the galley box but I also store all my cooking gear in the same area, so I need as much space as possible. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
ALWAYS a pleasure to watch another SKL episode. The segments on boat-building, and food prep (so glad for the Deb Potato shout-out), add much-enjoyed dimension to an already in-depth view of dinghy sailing. Looking forward to the next tack! Cheers this month from "somewhere in the South China Sea".
I have another tip if you dont have a cryo vac sealer, fill a bowl or a sink with water, put your meat or food in a zip lock back and place in the water to force all the air out and seal the bag without getting water in the bag. It sometimes works better than the cryo vac bags. I've used both methods.
Thanks for the Boat shed updates Paul. It’s a nice community thing they have going there. I love my new larger burner- I am sure you will be happy with it but beware they are tricky to turn down to a low heat setting. The food vacuum sealer was super interesting.
Thanks Josh, some You tube videos say you must have the cannister's yellow line facing upwards, others say only use the cannister vertically. What do you recommend?, cheers Paul
A beautiful video of your own works as well as the Lake Macquarie Classic Boat Association. They completed a fantastic work of art on the ski boat and appear to have several more masterpieces in the making. Your cottage pie looked scrumptious and will defiantly change your pasta diet when cruising over night. Looking forward to the next episodes. Sarah from Tasmania.
Thanks Sarah, glad to see the fairer sex watching.I often get comments saying why is dinghy cruising only for men .. it's not. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
I love it when you go by the boat shed. Very nice work they are doing there. Although I’m an amateur only on my second boat build, I would love to start an organization like that where I live. Great video, Paul!!
Hi Paul, yes Rythm 2 has been at the shed for a longtime and the guys should be very proud of the love and time they have put into that boat, cheers Paul
Interesting and well edited as usual. I'm getting closer to seeing you on an actual RAID as I have just ordered a kit for a Welsford SCAMP from Dennis at the Little Woodend Boat Company, WA (the kit is coming from Qld). Dennis is quite knowledgeable and very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I have joined the LMCBA and their members, who have offered to help me, with their wealth of skills and knowledge will be a great help to this complete novice boat builder. So we may bump into each other at Rathmines sometime. BTW you're mostly responsible for my RAIDITIS. Tha weles!
Great to hear Dave. The Classic Boat association at Rathmines are also very helpful if you need it. I like the term Raid..itis it could catch on, cheers Paul
Hi Paul, I love the vaccum sealer. Sometimes you need a hearty meal you can warm up on the burner when a BBQ or fire isn't possible and packet stuff is just plain awful and full of rubbish. How long would something like a cottage pie last in one of those?, just wondering how long before it goes off. Have you tried meat or fish in these?
I'm vegetarian so the cottage pie was made with lentils, chickpeas and kidney beans. I'm on the boat now and had it last night, very good. If frozen they last on the fridge for about 12 months. In an ice box on the boat 4/5 days. They are already cooked so should be ok. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Hi Paul, can I ask where you sourced the new burner please? Great video as per usual, my wife and I called by the workshop at Rathmines a few weeks ago when on our recent holiday in Aussie. What a wonderful venture and everyone so happy to discuss their projects, just wish we had something similar here..
The vacuum bag sealer is a great idea for meals while cruising. Do you have to keep them refrigerated while out on the water or are they good for a couple of days at ambient temperature? I'm thinking of getting a pressure canner which is hot enough to preserve stews in jars that don't need to be refrigerated. But then you are taking glass along with you. Glass is more environmentally friendly but you have to ensure against breakage.
Hi I think they would be good for a few days if frozen to start with. It's the air that contains bacteria, sp should be good. My first try will be next. Thanks for leaving a comment and watching cheers Paul
Err... we have a lot of poisonous snakes in Aus but I've only come across a red bellied black snake while kayaking. There are more further north or inland where is drier and hotter. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Great channel. Thanks for the video Paul. I was wondering, when you have vacuum packed your individual meals, do you keep them in the freezer until you need them or are they safe to leave unfrozen once they are vacuum packed?
Hi Robin, well this is the first time I've used it, so yes I'm keeping them in the freezer until needed but I will do some more research on how long they will keep unfrozen. I'm thinking it's air and moisture that spoil food, so if you remove one they should last a while. I'll have to check out some American prepper sites. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Yes , it's a bit unusual here for Autumn but there is a blocking high over central Australia locking in onshore rain from the East. Hopefully it will clear soon as I'm going up to Myall Lakes again this week. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Steves boats really coming on, for some reason unknown i got banned from the site where i was following his build process . Do you still need to put that vacumn pack nosh in a freezer/cool box?
Hi, Steve was posting regular photos of the build on Facebook. Well the cottage pie is vegetarian and so is the curry andI have frozen them as well as it's easier to vacuum seal if it's solid. I think they will easily last 4 days in a cool box. This is my first time but I'm sure there is lots more info on vacuum sealing on You Tube. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Great work Paul and thanks for your interest in and support for our endeavours at the Lake Macquarie Classic Boat Assoc.
My pleasure Steve thanks for allowing me, cheers Paul
I'm here in Alberta Canada and I just got to say that I really enjoyed your Channel
Thank you so much, cheers Paul
Nice work Paul. Look forward to seeing Libby's sharpie, i think it's beautiful boat.
You and me both!, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Well there you go, a boat builders attention to detail radiusing frozen food for the sealing . I love it!

Thanks Rob, yes Steve's Ptarmigan is getting very close, thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
A great few days again Paul.
Thanks Ragna
Hi Paul, it might be a good idea to attach a grill just above your burner so that the pot simply cannot slide off. Just an idea. Cheers
Hi Torisaen, I could have attached a grill in the galley box but I also store all my cooking gear in the same area, so I need as much space as possible. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul

Nice idea, thanks for sharing and watching again, cheers Paul
Your image for this video gives you a very "Captain Quint" from Jaws look to you.
He's gonna need a bigger boat then. James Shaw was also a fellow countryman of Paul's having hailed from Westhoughton, Lancashire, UK.
Well I have seen sharks but only small ones....thank goodness, thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Another great video, thanks for taking the time to share the adventures down under… cheers!
My pleasure Captain thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Myall lakes sounds good when the rain goes away!
Yep I'll be there from Wednesday morning, cheers Paul

Keep the canister vertical Paul, it will flare up if you put the can on it’s side while using it.
@@DinghyCruisingTrim 👍

Nice boat building, thanks for the update. KMART ? There are 11 US Kmarts in the states. I guess they are different stores.
Hi there are Kmart everywhere in I'm sure it's the same company. Thanks for watching cheers Paul

@@SailingKateLouise my thoughts too. If it could be safe there would be no limit to food storage.
Funny your on other end of the world "in canada" an has been raining on an off all week to 😂
