This was great, haven't seen any mechanics specific videos by you before, this was very straight forward and helpful. Looking forward to the home console release of rumble fish 2 love the bizarre layered sprite style it's so unique!
i loved this franchise, it's one of the few games where the buttons just feel good, has ample defensive mechanics, and the chain system is simple and easy to use even if it's the first time playing it but gives you enough freedom that doesn't chain your route down to a set string, and the graphics were some of the best 2.5D sprites before Xrd came out too bad it didn't gain much traction
To anyone who doesn't know.... You won't to emulate this anymore. And just when I started playing this game on my Swithc by emulating it too they announce a home port. Im so happy!
Still holding out for the Nesica release to come out for modern consoles...but for now we at least have the AtomisWave version on Fightcade 2 with Rollback!
Yea I’m going to need to study this. There’s a lot in the game and I’m still kinda confused. Doesn’t seem easy to pick up and play. But grabbing feels clunky and unresponsive. It’s a chore to grab an enemy blocking. It’s not easy to play you have loads of experience of course someone will spout that. I need to take my time to learn this.
Never knew of this game before until I found a wallpaper of Garnet in an old DVD backup, most likely got it for the character but man, I don't remember anyone talked about it back then or even since, it has quite the interesting mechanics tho.
Cool video, thanks! Can you do a tutorial in how to play guilty gear X ver 1.5? I have it on my retro handheld and it's a pretty cool game to play. Also, hokuto no ken. Thanks!
I gotta ask, as one looking for how to do Super Epicenter Blow, Lud's own Galactica Phantom, do you have the knowledge on how to do that, not many others have recorded that on the Wiki's.
I played the first one on my PS2, it had a counter mechanic an despite not being as flashy as other 2 fighters, the gameplay was solid, but this looks like SFA on cocaine, I would love to see a tournament of this game, and hopefully see it on steam at some point.
It's a 2005 Atomiswave game that got an updated NesicaxLive port in 2012 and an unofficial Dreamcast port last year! The Atomiswave version now has rollback netplay through Flycast!
that was odd. this game looks like it belongs on newgrounds, and I only clicked on the video because I was half-expecting some kind of bait and switch with the sincerity of the "Primer" title, but this game actually looks extremely realised in design and pretty unique. And it's on fc2! sickk
Street Fighter Alpha, Darkstalkers, Gran Blue Vs., etc are all games that have this mechanic. It's common game design and creates interesting situations.
I can't stand sprites with pivoting joints like this. I know its being used aa a short cut to make animations look more smooth by filling in between frames but it always give games this uncanny unfinished, amateur look. Like they are in a flash game on new grounds. This game as a whole looks very odd in motion. If you don't what I mean look at the difference in Blaphemous and Death Gambit animation (Or even the Armed with WIngs franchise which was originally a flash game). Less frames of animation can look better. For more reference Guilty Gear Strive ,or any of the 3d Arcsys games, compared to Mortal combat and injustice. It creates much stronger key frames that make move more recognizable for gameplay as well as being much more impactful as conveying the force of attacks.
Throw OS? Nope, I'm out. As someone who likes fighting games for the mental dance, that's detracted from when players are able to substitute in execution to have the game remove the need to commit to an action while still getting the benefit of whichever is best in the situation. Also, gatlings + guard break meter + resource-intensive defensive mechanics means the game will be too offense-oriented for me by rewarding aggressors while making blocking bad and forcing a larger mental stack upon the defender. Glad I watched this before wasting any of my precious limited time setting up and playing this.
Not every fighting game is for everyone, glad you checked out the video regardless and hope that one day you get to check out the game for yourself to see if you like how it feels! There are many fighters that aren't my biggest cup of tea but there is still a lot I find to appreciate about them :^)
@@GuileWinQuote Right on. I respect your mature response. A trait too rare in FGC comments sections and FGC Twitter, sadly. 😅 I'm subscribing and checking out your other content, since you're a respectable dude.
lol you are aware that nearly every 2d fighter has some kind of throw os right? you also seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of how option selects actually change gameplay past the beginner level. option selects are generally beatable and add another level of yomi to the game. they don't require any less "commitment" unless your opponent doesn't know how to counter them.
I’m new to fighting game & want to better understand what you mean. Can you (or anyone) provide examples of games you like that are without throw OS? Thanks
Love these videos on “Forgotten” fighting games. Especially with rollback emulation giving these games new life.
This has the whole kitchen sink of core mechanics and then some, huh?
Always wondered how this game played, thanks for the lowdown
Cheers
Love the animation. A bit stiff rigs that rely too much on rotation, but the overall quality is good... Especially relative to the first game.
This video is so godlike. Easy to digest and a simple overview of everything thanks for this.
The Rush Combos look to be pretty dope. Thanks for putting in the time Mr. Quote!

Fighting game noob here, really interested in how straightforward these mechanics seem to be. Thanks for the breakdown c:
Thank you for watching :^)
Hope your fighting game journey stays strong
Very well done
Thank you so much for making this. I constantly sing this games praise but there's so few resources for new players it's hard to recommend to friends

4Gamer just announced that the game is getting a PC port in winter 2022 complete with multiplayer and rollback netcode.
Gona be saving this video to easy access now that it’s coming to modern consoles 🙏
I love the art style and system mechanics of this game. The animation is kind of off, but it still looks worth a try imo
7:40 I'M LOVING that character-sensitve variety!
binged this entire channel, love you and what you do, keep it up!!
Could we see a character breakdown in the future? I'd love to see this game more from you
This is gonna be useful on the rerelease!
With winter fast approaching and the remaster (likely of the nesica version) along with it, prolly a good idea to brush up

Your vids are phenomenal! Have reviewed quite a few! Thanks again
Thank you for watching 🙇🏼
This game looks really fun. I wonder how I never heard of it before.
Can't wait for this video to blow up for real once the official rollback port is out
Wish this game got released on Steam and was more popular...
Still holding out for the Nesica release to come out for modern consoles...but for now we at least have the AtomisWave version on Fightcade 2 with Rollback!
I saw this title getting a release (or more like re-release) date soon on Switch, XBox PS/5 and PC with rollback netcode!
I used to play tons of this game along with SvC Chaos with the local arcade gang.
looks like a neat mix of kof and fexl

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Game just dropped on Ps4 and I'm having a blast trying to figure out Lud! This guide helped alot
So hyped for the rerelease on the Switch! Always thought this game looked really really cool! 👏👏👏
impact break is done by make a good use of it, its like parry that requires meter which is ok but its good
Great overview! I like all the meter options, the mindgames in this game look fun. Any chance you'll do details on the characters?
Some of these mechanics are very clever.
I wonder why they didn't become staples for fighting games
This game looks sick

The mechanics of this game are very similar to Guilty Gear. Can't wait for the re release this year
awesome system guide. thanks!
by any chance would you be interested to do one for KOF XI as well?
not a system guide per se, but i've def had ideas for videos discussing KOF XI in some sort of way. . .!

Rumble Fish 2 carries the fgc.
Does Rumble Fish 2 have the "Do you fart" fish?
Can't find a tutorial for the original (will get this one later XD )
What's the sequel-only new stuff?
I wonder if my retro handheld can run this, or at least the Dreamcast version. It looks very fun and very playable on a handheld.

Lud is one of My Mains, also Main Greed
