We all know you’d never be quiet
I have this beast. The weight is not in the plastic guard. Its in the motor near the head at the end
I've used quite a few battery lawn tools. I got hooked on the EGO I have the mower, string trimmer and a blower the quality is top notch.
About four or five years ago I bought the one +18 V 13 inch weedeater. My only complaint is you can only go up to .080 string but it works great. My only complaint is the battery gets kind of hot if you go for too long. I use a four amp hour battery it’s not horrible but it does get a little hot if you just keep going so I just try to swap it out every now and again. But other than that thing works awesome and I like the way they do the string. They give you a little crank to turn it but you don’t even need it which is good cause I lost mine a few years ago.
I guess if you’re doing heavy duty stuff the 40 V might be cool but I would opt for a lighter one. That is much quieter though. I can actually hear the grass ripping but I’ve been pretty impressed with the Ryobi stuff. We got this a few years ago and a couple years ago got a combo kit with cyan drill and impact and an oscillating cutter on the flashlight then I got the P262 600 foot pound impact wrench that’s the HP brushless. Then I saw your thing about the sale at Office Depot and I got a charger with a 2,4, and 6 amp-hour HP batteries and I got the HP brushless saw with it for free, or $200 for the three batteries charger and the saw then I also got the little tire air pump and glue gun. I didn’t buy the battery pack to get those because now I’ve got 7 batteries but they were still pretty cheap come about 23 and $24 I think. I just wish I hadn’t gotten the impact wrench yet. For $10 more I could’ve gotten that for free with the $200.03 HP battery and charger kit. I paid 189 for the impact wrench with a battery and charger but that would’ve save me 60 bucks but I’m happy with it. I rebuilt a riding mower that sat outside for three years for and the impact wrench made it pretty easy and was worth every penny. Lol. But with the three-year warranty and the price I will probably keep buying their stuff, so far it’s all works great. I did have a battery go bad and it turned out it was the charger because they sent me a new battery and the charger burn that out so they sent me a new charger and battery under warranty and we’re pretty easy to deal with. That was on the weedeater a few years ago and it’s worked fine since, So far I’ve been really happy with the stuff.
As far as this weedeater, it looks cool but for me I’d rather have the smaller one I have that’s lighter. I’m not sure I want to carry that big battery around when the 18 V works pretty great. I guess if I was doing more brush clearing and needed more power it might be worth it but I use the .080 line in mine and I never have a problem with the power. Are usually tear up the string before it runs out of power, I like how it’s quiet but I’d rather have some thing that’s less weight. After half an hour those things start to get heavy. Lol
I don't like it for one reason, you can't change the attachments.
I got the 40v expand it. I was impressed with the power its gott
I picked up an 18v whisper blower and am VERY happy with how quiet it is. Kind of shocking given how obnoxiously loud my 2 year old shop vac and stick vac are from them. I may have to upgrade everything.
Ryobi, Reobi, knocked it out of the park. Maybe I’ll receive one for my birthday on 5/31/2022. 👍👍TRZ, don’t work to hard & keep’m coming
I truly try not to work hard brother, but wifey sees things the other way 😪
@@ToolReviewZone I have an advantage over you, my wife & I are both retired. I stay busy with outside projects & she enjoys making crafts & baking cakes, pies, cookies & cobblers.
Got one Very strong tons of Power the electric motor on the weed eater head weighs a ton need a Strap can only hold it for only 10 minutes going to put a Strap on it and hook it to the new Back Pack power with 3 Batteries should last me for 40 minutes got about 3 hours of weeding at my Church
Hey yinzer, It’s not “POWA”. It’s PAHR, like Caher (As in Bill)
Is that in the Expand-It line? It doesn't look like any of my attachments & that's NOT real nice like!
Which one did you get. This is the 17:, buy they also have the 15"
Mine has A LOT of grass kickback. With the guard installed. My left leg is so covered it looks like I have my own lawn.
Anybody else?
Thanks! Enjoyed your review. I already owned one but within time to return if problems. Overall, it’s a keeper for this old lady.👵
I bought it and I love the soft start, great trimmer and edger. Thanks for the video.
They probably want to silence you for saying RYE-O-BEE not REE-O-BEE 🤣
I still can't believe they pronounce it wrong after all this time
I am in the market for a battery powered string trimmer, I've been looking at the Stihl and Milwaukee but I may look into the RYOBI.
Smeeesh that like button. 👀👉🏼 👍🏽
Ego is great too.!! I've had mine over 2 years i believe and no complaints.
I really haven't used a bad electric Trimmer from any of the main brands brother. I think you will like most of them, but let me know which you decide on. Oh, and thanks for the SMEEESH Jason!!!
🗑
No one can silence TRZ… thanks for the review. Potential upgrade to the current Ryobi 40v I have. Thanks
I got the 40v expand it. Can switch out to all dif kinds of stuff like mini snow thrower, cultivator, pole saw, etc. I was impressed w the power it has
Hahaha, well... wifey is pretty skilled at shutting me up 🤣🤣👊
I wore my Real Nass Like shirt the other day. Nice!
Hell yeah brother 👊👊👊
I should have gotten that one instead of the budget ryobi nail trimmer I did get.
Just bought the whisper series leaf blower. Wow!!! It’s awesome.
Leaf blower has the lag as well. 😬
Its definitely a good blower. A lot of power to it. I am going to bring the backpack blower soon brother
Me too, so far so good.
Gd honest review think i get the ego iq as fed up changing line time is money wot you think always go by ur reviews
Steve 👊👊👊
It's so quiet, I can sneak over to the neighbor's yard and they do not hear me cleaning out unsightly weeds and tall grass.
Hahaha, can you come and do mine 🤣
Don't do it brother who will annoy your neighbors 😳
Yeah the lag in the trigger might be a deal breaker for me!
well clint, i find its worth the price but for a couple 100 dollars more you can get way better quality and better features! o and thanks for the video man apriceate it👊
Can't disagree brother
A up Brother long time not chat , great content Clint Real Nass Like 👍 😊
Carl 👊👊👊👊👊
I want a louder one RYOBI!! LET IT RIP!!
Can you take the guard off?
Dang, I can't believe Ryobi would do that to you TRZ. Yikes! best wishes
It's sad Roger 😔
how would you compare it to the Milwaukee one
I like the Milwaukee better bro. The trigger really does bother me 🤣
Whaaaat?! Nobody puts our Clinton(Baby) in the corner... 🤨
Rents too high on this trimmer at $300; quieter or not, as all battery tools are relatively quiet as compared to any gas unit anyhow.
I own two RYOBI-ia trimmers, one with string and the other with brush blades (too lazy to change them out between sessions) and I'm still not convinced enough to upgrade, they would need all 10's from you for that!!!
Thank you so much for all of your efforts in brining us the wide variety of reviews on power tools and hardware Clint.
Always enjoy them all, and even Vance plugged you the other day in his own way🤤...
I had accidently clicked on his channel 🙄
Lmao, my wife typed in knitting and his channel came up, so I understand how an accidental click can happen Robert 🤣🤣
@@ToolReviewZone 🤣
I know of a more superior mower, lighter weight and better battery power that can outperform him, trust me!
The assembly sucks
@ToolReviewZone, Do you got a connection w/ Ryobi to ask them if this is going to become Expand-It Attachment capable? Seems like doesnt support currently as some people saying below, so wondering if they ever will make attachments for it, otherwise i'll just get the 15" carbon fiber Ryobi that does support.
I have fallen out of the Zone. I need to stay in the Zone!
Lol, the Zone is the place to be brother
Yo Clint! That video was real nass like! $299 a bit steep, though. I know, I know, most of the cost is the battery. Would also be better if they made it attachment capable. Just sayin. I have the brushed (attachment capable) 40v version with a 4.0ah and I love it. Yes, it has a soft start, too. Not a deal killer by any stretch. I don't use the bump feed trimmer that came with it. Instead, I use a straight line trimmer head. I can't stand having to bump the thing on a hard surface and DARN sure ain't gonna bump it into my lovely gorgeous lawn! Take care and God bless! 😎🎸👍
they have a 40v hp version thats attachment capable. the only way they were able to make the weed eater quieter is by making it direct drive. Direct drive eliminates having gearing and a driveline in the shaft, as well as more gearing on the trimmer head which is where all the noise comes from.
@@larrytraber The main thing I hear on my brushed version, of course, is the string cutting through the air and the trimming of grass, itself. I don't know why the motor (or gearing) was ever a problem for noise. 🤔 It's not an issue whatsoever. 🤷♂️
I have the 40v expand it where you can change out to trimmer, edger, brush cutter, pole saw, cultivator etc. Im impressed with the power its got. Ya the noise isnt an issue at all. They're takin a page out of milwaukees book. Keep coming out w somwthing new eventhough its no better than the last just to make something new and have ppl spend their money thinking its newer so it must be better.
My bro Man Dave also on point with his comments 👊👏
Omg that soft start kills me. I was all set to buy but now debating. But what’s the average time for that 6ah battery. Seems like most of the cost is for the battery. Hell to buy separate. Doubt the 4ah would last much swinging 15/17 line.
Lol. Always the funniest reviews.
Thanks brother
Love your channel.
Thanks Bob!!!!
@@ToolReviewZone your welcome sir. I don’t like horse pucky (you know what I want to say) you provide a great service to those that are starting out. Wish I had that when I was a kid. You are going to the Moon with this platform. Do your thing and be you. It works.
Glad to see you wearing the tank tees again :)
Sleeves are GONE BROTHER!! 🤣😎👊
I've been having a issue with this saw model. My line keeps going back into the spool over and over. i'm using the right line. what would you recommend?
Your not tapping your feed head enough. If you let the line get too short it will slip back inside. keep at least 4 inches of line then tap and feed more line
How come no one has done an announcement video of the new DeWalt 20v Biscuit joiner? It was announced yesterday. I cannot wait to get my hands on one or watch a review.
I still think that the ego st1521 is a better trimmer especially since it’s got the string power loading feature
Like button Smeeshed
Thanks brother
Real Nass Like Clint 😎
Jamal 👊👊👊
What sized trimmer line does that Whisper 40v ship with? .95 twisted?
CRYobi 🤢🗑️🤢🗑️🤢
Lol Ted and Chaka on the dame video
No sshhhh-ing TRZ!
YOU TELL'EM DAN THE MAN!!!!!
I believe the start delay is a product of the brushless motor.
I own a ryobi attachment capable brushless trimmer, a BlackMax attachment capable (25cc) gas trimmer and a ryobi attachment capable corded (10 amps, 120 volts, 1200 watts) trimmer. Enough attachment capability for me. So, this dedicated trimmer would be a great addition to my toys collection. I already have three ryobi batteries, two 4 ah and one 6 ah, and two chargers. Lacking the high speed charger.
For me the key to run the ryobi battery powered trimmers efficiently, is to run them at low speed, remove the guard and buy a lot of cheap ryobi batteries at Ebay. Using the brushless trimmer this way I get about an hour run time for the each 4 ah battery and over 1.5 hours for the 6ah battery; a total of 3.5 hours of continuous run time with my three batteries.
A brand new 6ah battery cost about 240$, the charger about 100$ and a new trimmer cutting head about 30$... So to pay 300 to 340 dollars for the brand new trimmer plus 6ah battery plus charger is a good deal. Looking forward to buy one soon...
I just picked up the 18v brushless HP version with two 4ah HP batteries, and it lasts me just about 30 minutes per battery, using only low power.
I feel like I have all the wrong parts in this
Did i win the old one👌
In the mail Wolf 👊🤣
@@ToolReviewZone 🤣 make sure its broke all to bits and wont chop a dandylion
it's got powa and featchas.
Can you take off the guard?
So basically....
He just doesn't like the guard & soft start.
Pretty much 🤣👊
@@ToolReviewZone
Got one of their battery powered lawnmowers.... it's soft start too (probably all their products are) I just got use to it. lol
I have their mower. I don't mind d the soft starts on Mowers, but definitely a pain on trimmers
For $ 300.00 that's ok, I pass.
Definitely not cheap
I am very happy with the new Ryobi Whisper Series 18v One+ HP Weed Trimmer, when used with an HP 6v or 9v battery. It has plenty of power, great specs and features, but less money, and I can stick with my One+ platform. My trimmer also has easy start delay, but that is much easier on the motor and longevity than jack rabbit startup speeds.
Awesome feedback brother
Thank You. I always enjoy Your reviews. I forgot to mention, that I think the One+ 18v trimmer seems to have a smaller, less cumbersome shield too. Keep on making Your great "naas" like reviews. 👍
Thanks to your reviews I am joining the Ridgid team. Used the sub compact saw yesterday. Awesome tool.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback brother
Those weren't nasty weeds with thick hard stalks that were being cut , but rather some patch grass that is easy to cut .
Sorry but these battery powered trimmers just don't cut it when it comes to the heavy thick stuff. my son in law has the top of the lane Stihl trimmer which i have tried . It bogged down as soon as i tried it on tall grass , 12 " high with weeds. it could barely make a dent in that stuff and the battery lasted all of ten to fifteen minutes . i then got out my Honda four stroke trimmer and blew through the same material in a matter of seconds .,
Battery powered trimmers are for small blades of grass but have no use in clearing roadsides or overgrown fields .
Once you use a EGO Line IQ you'll never want to use any other string trimmer
The meaning of Ryobi is shit/Crap. This was earned by Ryobi in the early days by selling absolute rubbish. If Ryobi wants to taken serious in the hand tool market, they need a name change.
