18:57 "What do you think a defensive driver could do to avoid this type of incident?" I have taught driving for many years. The answer is simple. NEVER, EVER drive on the right side of a truck. Only travel behind or ahead of a truck. If you wish to pass a truck, ONLY do so on its left side, and ONLY when the lane is open in front of you so you can pass VERY QUICKLY. Even when truck drivers are doing everything correctly with mirrors and cams, there are areas they cannot see on the right side of their vehicle. If a truck is coming up on your left to pass you, get the hell out of the way.
I was sitting at a light in the inside left turn lane with a semi on my left in the other left turn lane. Big enough intersection. He didn’t know my lane turned left too and he changed lanes right into me. I don’t know what i could have done to prevent this accident.
I owned and drove semis for decades. It always amazed me how fools in car would start past a truck, and then, once right next to the trailer with no one in front of them, would slow down and pace the truck, sometimes for miles. I used to tell people that those electrical lines between the tractor and trailer actually powered a giant electromagnet in the trailer that prevented cars from finishing the pass.

I'm curious why you need a lawyer to deal with Amazon after a crash. Wouldn't your insurance company be the ones fighting for compensation from Amazon's insurance company?
It depends on what kind of insurance you have. Some states allow you to carry only liability, which only pays out to the other party if you are the at fault driver. Apparently in San Pedro, you can create your own driver's license on a computer and go buy a car. As such, when you crash into another car, the LAST thing you're going to do is wait for the police to show up.
First there was the 11' overpass, then the Milwaukee roundabout, the Seattle Tunnel, the Fresno intersection and now it appears we have a new hot spot, the San Pedro corner.
6:28 If you have any doubters in your life who don't think a street can be cursed, introduce them to this spot in San Pedro! How often do crashes occur here?
Yup! It was closed for almost 3-4 hours and was during the start of rush hour traffic too if I remember correctly. I live in the area and my brothers work is basically right there (on the left side of the freeway). But that video was from a bit ago. At least the hospital was the next exit - so when they had to take the trucker to the hospital it was right there (If that was in-network at least. Is a Kaiser hospital there).

@@patriciatownsley7122 emergency lights do no grant priority. They act as a warning, it's still the emergency driver's responsibility to manage crossing traffic.
0:12. Siren? Volume? When on quiet mode, I've heard dozens of coppers quietly zipping along with the reds and the blues flashing, then they approach an intersection, and a low grunting sort of cop horn sounds; locals can hear it, it's short and sweet usually, but far away bad girls can't hear it. This is why we need the sound for this video.
The second to the far left lane has no traffic signal directly above it and the stop line/crosswalk is at an angle, so red lights don't show up to drivers in that lane as plainly as they do at intersections with a straighter layout. My friend at AAA Car Insurance in Fresno says it's just sloppy engineering.
Be aware that bad weather conditions like heavy rain can reduce visibility and road traction, so it's essential to drive more cautiously to avoid accidents.
Wow, 39 million people. Even if only half drive, that's a LOT of people without any driving skills! The generalizations about any group of people or state or type of car driver (except, perhaps, that monstrosity of cyber truck because .... seriously?).... bothers me. I grew up in California, and when I was in high school, driver's ed was mandatory. The insurance being high is due to long commute times, congestion, and record. So if I were to take my rural Oregon commute and translate it to the same amount of time on the road, but in the Bay Area, then my insurance would go up. Because spending 30 minutes driving to work is a different experience when you encounter zero cars versus a few thousand. I think that if you took the number of accidents in California, you might find that, proportionally, it's the same in any other place. Having a high population density just means you encounter more vehicles. If the odds are you might have an issue with every 1000 cars, then in some parts of California, that might be five times a day, but in other parts of California, that might be once a year. It's just easy to generalize.

Especially, when the cammer is at fault for not yielding. You don't seem to know rights of way, too!

Wow.
For some reason, the thumbnail looks like a video game glitch. 😆
Apparently in San Pedro, you can create your own driver's license on a computer and go buy a car. As such, when you crash into another car, the LAST thing you're going to do is wait for the police to show up.
That explains so much
That Fresno intersection is solid gold real estate for personal injury lawyers.
I need a sponsor. 🤑
And the police department, if they staked it out for ticketing red light runners
That intersection in Fresno, CA has a LOT of accidents.
I see accidents at this location on Several videos
These road moments are proof that anything can happen while driving.
First there was the 11' overpass, then the Milwaukee roundabout, the Seattle Tunnel, the Fresno intersection and now it appears we have a new hot spot, the San Pedro corner.
#14 had me with the relaxed "Wow"
#20 7:47 The Mustang mistakenly thought that the guard rail were people.
Some of these drivers with the dash cam have never heard of defensive driving
thats why I stopped riding my bike on public roads, not worth it

I hate driving in San Pedro during weekday business hours. The whole downtown area is like being on an ant-hill.

A major injury would be only one arm left (permanent consequence of an injury).
Probably meant no serious injuries
@@patriciatownsley7122 a broken arm is serious if you ask me, maybe "no life threatening injuries" is what they should have said
How many of these never would've happened if the driver male/female went slower, looked or waited/paid more attention?

They gonna have to put some barriers when the light is red in Fresno damn that place is like accident central.
The locals say that the City/County needs to up a traffic light above the number 2 lane in order to stop that.
@@billolsen4360what's a number 2 lane? Do they just mean add another light next to the others?
14. Ok, Highway is now temporarily closed!

But more caution needed, that approach was fast given the amount of slow and slowing cars around you.
They were going way too fast, they made the left lane look slow with nobody in front of them.

15:00 finally I see my own state alaska over 4 years of watching car crashes all day.
0:30 the Sheriff is supposed to proceed with due-regard and did not, especially with a lane clear.
Yeah this "sheriff found not at fault" feels like an odd comment when the sheriff looks like he clearly was at fault given as they proceeded through the red, so should be giving way to other vehicles. Way too fast into the situation.
@@davidshowtohe had his emergency lights on and the other driver was probably speeding

what in the world is up with that intersection in Fresno? Its like the Bermuda Triangle of intersections and cars instrument go all bananas?
#8 your first reaction being honking rather than turning the wheel insane
0:12. Siren?
I think the audio doesn't work in that video
Good driving by #8, recovered quickly.

5:06. The way the car engine reved up. 😅😅😅
That’s the gearbox whine.
#47 - I know that exact location! It has been ingrained into my head for years.😂
What’s up with that light in Fresno California? It’s pretty notorious for crashes. 😮
@@billolsen4360Sounds about right.
Be aware that bad weather conditions like heavy rain can reduce visibility and road traction, so it's essential to drive more cautiously to avoid accidents.
California is literally the New Mexico, where no one takes driving courses .. insane . I could only imagine how expensive car insurance is
If you think that's bad you should see how they drive in the actual New Mexico.😂🤣
A lot of illegals in California.
@@taylorlibby7642 🤣🤣🤣🤣
