- This video takes a dive into the bizarre world of Shimeji Simulation.
I'm very new to this UA-cam thingy so constructive criticism is always welcome. The quality is low because I didn't create the video in 1920x1080 (maybe don't watch in full screen). Since I'm still learning premiere I messed a few things up. There may also be some pronunciation and mic issues sprinkled in there as well.

I appreciate you! I want to do more to diversify myself so I'm experimenting a bit with how I do things. I feel like the hardest part is making it feel less like I'm reading a script and more like I'm talking to the viewers. More to come in the future though for sure, thank you for the feedback.

started reading it after finish Girl's Last Tour, which is a masterpiece imo. I have to admit it's a bit advanced for my smooth brain, definitely gonna re-read it. a very refreshing stuff in a world saturated with boring isekai stuff like you said
I thought I knew what was going on until the recent chapters threw me for a loop, I’ll probably have to re read it as well.
This world really needs more Shimeji simulation content

Really hoping we eventually get an adaptation of the rest of GLT, it is a masterpiece. Read the manga recently and it just keeps getting better until the very end where it peaks. Even if we have to crowdfund it, I would definitely chip in.

I could see glt getting a couple OVAs or a movie if it was to ever finish, just because there’s only 2 volumes left to cover if I recall. Good to hear you’re starting Shimeji Simulation, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
@@Nyaanachi I hear a lot of people say that it doesn't have enough content to continue, but the anime was made with only 4 volumes. That means we have about 6 episodes worth of content - around 2 hours. Could easily be adapted into a movie or a few OVAs. Just not a full season.
Thank you. I am looking up for Tsukumizu-sensei info. Never read their works before but I could sense something uniquely weird and genius from the twitter. Wikipedia doesn't have enough details. Your video just make me want to read GLT.

Tkmz: Shortening Tsu --Ku --Mi -Zu.
Tsu-ku is the one that changed from the Tsu-ki, and the one that changed the flexion i of Tsu-ki (moon) to u.
The pronunciation of ku is the first half of cool.
The meaning of Mi-zu is water.
Tsukumizu(or Tukumizu): moon-water.
I love Shimeji Simulation so much. I've got into it a few weeks ago and the surreal nature of this manga makes me want to read it over and over again. I've always been fascinated to surrealism and I keep getting attracted to it so much that I escape by dreaming such things. Thank you for bringing this video into fruition and I'm glad to be a new fan to tkmiz (also you too! I'm looking forward to your new content). Although I haven't seen much of GLT (aside from the funny tenor gifs me and my friends post in discord) I'll take a look at the anime and manga as well since your video has interested me.
This is the type of love for the series that led me to make content on it. Shimeji is such an enjoyable experience and a very nice breath of fresh air. I’m glad you found the manga and this video. GLT is definitely worth a watch and a read. I personally enjoy Shimeji a bit more, but GLT has a very unique philosophical view on the world. I’ve read it since making this video, and I talk about it a bit in the newer version of this video. I’m definitely going to make at least one more Tkmiz video at some point in the near future.

Man , im very late but my god this video was so informative i used to read Gokukoku no brynhildr in 2014 and it got me addicted to shimeji simulation and made me interested in girls last tour , its something that drove me into depression but its so beautiful at the same time
I watched the Gokukoku no brynhildr anime back in 2014 as a naive young lad and I’ll be damned if I remember anything about it. It was definitely one of my introductions to a more darker tone of anime though. GLT is somewhat depressing but it is also portrays an incredible message that I think a lot of people resonate with. Shimeji is a lot more lighthearted, but Tkmiz also tackles some darker topics under the surface. Glad you enjoy the works though, regardless of how depressing they can get.
PS: You’re actually not late to the party, I did an updated version of this video earlier in the year.
@@Nyaanachi heh , i saw the updated video and to be honest its sad to see how underrated you are so i def. subbed ! on the other hand , about gokukoku no brynhildr , it was my first anime (yes i watched the adaption first) and only if i knew that i would get so obsessed with it , its such a niche masterpiece and i fell in love with it to the point i own all the volumes authentically since 2014 irl (sorry for sharing too much information but im too much of a fanboy smh)

The Shimeji community seems to love the videos I make on it. It’s nice to see that and be part of it. Maybe one day a video of mine will really pop off, but I’m not banking on it XD. I just so happened to find this video after reading it. Lol I have to say the one thing that oddly stuck with me was the four connected power lines. Not sure why. I can’t wait to see where this goes it’s so interesting

Edit: I try to comprehend how Yuu and Chito are there, and despite how I love the two, I can’t understand how they’re there.
Edit: THERES EVEN A PART IN GIRLS LAST TOUR IN WHICH SHIMEJI SIMULATION CHARACTERS ARE SHOWN! HOW THE HEKK DOES THAT WORK!? also, it’s the scene when nuko connects the camera to the sub.
I’ve also read GLT. I might read it again soon because it’s a very good read. I made a newer version of this video where I talk about it a bit. Shimeji is unofficially available in English and while I can’t provide a link there’s a certain popular manga website that has it.
I also have no clue as to why Chito and Yuu are there either but it’s a nice little nod to GLT.

Thank you! I remade this video into a more thorough one recently that I highly recommend checking out. Shimeji Simulation is still one of my favorites and each chapter just keeps getting better, so I hope to cover more of it in the future.

anime is good because manga is good in the first place. although I must admit that they achieved an excellent setting and musicalization.
Yeah the music score is very nice and the lead voice actors do an amazing job, especially considering they are practically the only two voices in the whole show
I recommend Flight of the Cub/Kabu no Isaki and anything by the same author like Kotonoba Drive and YKK. All are slice of life, surreal masterpiece 👍

It's also feels somber at times in later chapters.
One of them is how Sumida looks up to Mogawa but the fact Mogawa is suicidal and cope through making pottery donuts but eventually stopped, after hearing Sumida looks up to her she couldn't say anything other than say sorry to her for stop making them and decide to just take her own life.
And also Shijima sister and oh boy.. She wanted to make her little sister not being sad by dedicating her life to this insane project so Shijima could create anything she wants and be happy but not knowingly she made Shijima more and more distant to everything around her because of how she prioritized her work than her little sister.
Shijima sister made her apathetic, she is void on doing anything creative and rather just lives sufficient, it's really sad because this isn't probably what shijima sister wanted to see from her when she finally made everyone got to make anything they wanted to..
Read the last 2 Volumes of the GLT manga, you have to, just prepare some tissue papers for eye water.

I’ll buy all the books next time I have the chance, they’re always out of stock. The rebellion ost is one of my faves and I love that song even if I heard it too much in Magia Record.

@@zafranorbian757 Magia Record was very fun in EN because you could actually read the story. I still enjoy JP a bit but I don’t play it much at all. One of the better mobile games I’ve ever played and I felt bad for the people who put money into it when EN was still around. There’s a whole discord for it if you were looking to get into it, and the anime will give you a good taste of the story you can’t read.
@@Nyaanachi I would love to get into it more and I actually have it installed on my phone, but the thing is I only really play these kind of games for the story (and maybe to get homura). I am not shure if it therefor makes much sence to invest much time in a game where I can not read the thing I am most interested in.

I watched it back when it first got uploaded and didn't see any timing issues. I time the photos depending on look, feel and the words. Could be on your end, or there could be some parts that just seem a little off. Thanks for the feedback though!

I started reading Shimeji Simulation recently and have been pretty engrossed with it. There's times when it feels quite far out, but I think it strikes a good balance between absurdist surrealism and comedy. What really ties it all together, of course, is Shimeji and Majime. Although the overall tone is less serious compared to GLT, the relationship between the two girls is every bit as compelling as that of Chito and Yuuri. Sometimes I wonder where the story is eventually going to go, but just taking in the interaction between the girls is more than fulfilling, and I definitely agree with your view in that regard!

holy shit if you like the visuals in shimeji like the landscapes and shit please read the shoujo shummatsu ryokou manga, it's landscapes are absolutely stellar and the stories final chapters really are something to behold, they're beautiful

Definitely going to lean towards anime and manga but if I really like something I’ll probably talk about it. I do quite like bunny girl senpai but I feel it’s already been talked about a a lot and anime specifically is hard to upload due to copyright claims even if it is supposed to fall under fair use.

Shimeji Simulation, like glt, is an amazing mangá with so much happening that you stops to think sometimes... I realy think Tsukimizu is trying to make an shared universe with glt but im not entirely sure.
There’s a character that looks like shijima in the camera roll of the camera from glt but Tkmiz tends to re use or just experiment with character designs. I could see Shimeji Simulation being a prequel though, maybe about the cause of the apocalypse. It would be neat if they were connected but they’re both enjoyable on their own as well.
@@Nyaanachi Maybe literally a simulation to keep a great amount of people sleeping to reserve resources as the world in glt are lacking it.... They may have created the matrix hahaha.

Not sure how well Google translated your comment so sorry if I got it wrong I don’t speak Japanese. I’m sure much of the phrasing and obscurity of the manga is lost when translated to English. Some aspects may differ from what you have read. If you would like more information on the translation the team that does it is called Orchesc/a/ns, that’s where I sourced the images in this video. They’re a brilliant team and do wonderful work for the community as we have no official translation of this manga yet.

That would be the original Gunbuster. It was an OVA done by Gainax back in the 80s. Highly recommend as it has the same director of Evangelion.

Thank you for the kind words. As I have mentioned to many others and will do so again, I have picked up the manga. Although, I've only read volume 1 so far as I'm currently reading Katanagatari as well. Maybe I'll make a video on it but it has been heavily talked about on the internet already so we'll see.

I’ve never played that and although the visuals seem more horror oriented the concept itself does seem similar to Shimeji Simulation. Maybe it was a possible influence of Tkmiz.
