Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I'm an inland coin hunter and almost never dig targets in those ranges because around an old homestead it would be junk 99.9 percent of the time and you just can't dig that much in a yard. But I'm going to the beach and brining my 800 with me so I will be digging all those low tone thanks to this very well thought out video. Thanks to you and maybe I'll get a ring.
Thank you for showing why you dig everything up. I had no idea the sound variations could be gold, silver, junk etc. Interesting and educational video.
Thank you so much for this video! I always wondered what you guys were talking about in the video when you would say A nice low town or a nice hi tone. Now I know thanks to your video! This is one of the most informative ones I’ve seen. I cannot believe the collection of rings you have they are stunning! Thank you so much for your videos!
Dug everything yesterday at a local freshwater beach and campground. Wifey and I spent five hours there - DIGGING ALMOST EVERYTHING. Our take? 84 cents - and three pounds of trash! Tons of bottle caps, old pop tops, bunches and bunches of melted aluminum burned up in campfires, tent pegs, beer cans in various stages of disintegration, fish hooks, nails, toy cars, bullets (this is Nevada after all), and who knows what all else. I will NOT be digging everything anymore. Oh, and thank God for our Garret pinpointers! If I thought I could find a huge bunch of rings like this, I may dig-it-all. But at MY beach, in MY state, not so much - ha.
Thank you for your time spent on this. While I live in WI far away from ocean beaches, this was very interesting. Just found your channel and subscribed. I really enjoy your videos.
Very nice 👍😊 my friend Tony, what do you have your settings on the nox for Beach hunting? Please tell me 😁👍 thank you for your time with all your rings and I am impressed you got it going on Tony!!! 💜
Thanks for the video. This is why the people who rarely ever dig gold rings will tell you that gold rings ring up like a nickel. Very few rings ever do. Great work.
Hey Donna. Good to hear from you. I do get out occasionally. I’m just not videoing anymore. I may get the camera out again but I just have a lot of other stuff going right now. Thanks for the interest annd all the best, Tony.
It helps to consider the area you are in. Its a higher probability to find rings around gardens, flower beds, and swimming holes. Coins I find more around houses especially paths to doorways or within 10 feet or so of house. But close to house is also more nails and junk in general
Great video Tony! Also a great demonstration of the conductivity of pure gold vs alloyed gold. Gold alloys have far poorer conductivity than pure gold. Just a small percent of other metals cause the conductivity of gold to drop dramatically, even if the other metals are a good conductors, like copper or silver.
Tony Eisenhower I think your camera was reading all the white board and so making it darker. Hope you won’t take this as a criticism just a little help. As said elsewhere great vid.
Would you consider to some day set up your meter like you have it now and do a 101 class and explain in detail how all the settings and buttons work and your favorite expert tips ? I think that would be just as helpful and interesting as your chart video . Thank You . Mark ,Ft Lauderdale .
See , I didn't even know it could light up . I could see the numbers . I was listening to the different sound pitches . The light will be a plus . Thanks !
Thankyou for your valiant effort. I watched the full video and it confirmed my suspicions. The equinox is a great tool ... the week link is going to be the user. Please carry on the great work. Thanks from the UK
Excellent demonstration of why to dig it all. I found more gold rings before all the bells and whistles. It would sound off and I would dig it. People have a tendency to cherry pick today. I have been going back the last few year to diggin it all.
I dig in 5 tones mostly parks and freshwater. I use Field 1 and park 2. Usually in parks don't look for gold, but silver about 90% of time you can recognize by "sweeter" swooshy sound while copper is more of a dull high tone. I am planning to go for gold more and I wonder if you can tell that with gold vs. aluminium the same way. Maybe on 50 tones. Thinking of doing video on that.
Well Tony that was a very impressing video you definitely have to dig everything I was really hoping that when you passed that thin balled up gold chain over the coil you would have gotten at least a soiled 1or 2 on the screen. there is a video on Utube showing two guys in nee deep ocean water showing a small gold chain stretched out on the bottom and getting a soiled 1 reading and a repeatable low tone on the Equinox 800 he then asked his buddy to try and see if he could detect it with his Excal and he could not. did you see that video. if so what do you make of it, looked very encouraging . now I am not impressed..Joe. from Canada..
Very very interesting Tony, it has me second guessing my temptation to buy an 800 for the beach. I dig it all with my Pi's anyhow...hmmm. Might buy one just for the fun of a new machine, and it would be nice to have disc for the beaches out in B.C. lots of iron there...I'll talk myself into it eventually..LOL!
Great video Tony. Shame you didn't hit the back light. I dig everything but iron on most beaches. If I'm in an area where I may find relics then I may dig iron too .
Great Video Tony! I'm new to the hobby and was down in SD over the weekend. I went to Coronado hoping to see you there....on Friday. I see you were at another beach. BTW....I specifically walked to the "FENCE LINE" that keeps all the "Civilians" off the base.....I was cracking up just standing there :) Hope to meet up with you one day.
Great video very interesting to watch some collection of rings you have bud and after seeing your video I will be going to dig up every signal that I hear because I only dig up te high tones and pass on by the low signals that I probably why I have only found a few bits of gold in the last 3years so I will let you know when I'm next time how I got on with your help and advice thanks much appreciated HH Gl
Great Vid. You need to open up a jewelry store ! I have been using a Whites Dual Field Surf PI for about 6 years at the beach and dig everything. Yes, I do clean up a lot of trash, but that's a good thing.
Thanks for the video. I haven't found any gold rings yet with my machine. Could be because I passed on it because of the vid. I better start digging it all. Thanks again
Most people In my opinion who metal detect for at least one year will eventually slow down on cherry picking targets . This video is a great example of why cherry picking can sometimes be disappointing. The nox is nice but benching my ctx is very difficult for me. Good luck buddy. Big Mex
17:08 now I wonder if this is why I was never able to recover a shallow water thin gold band ring. Owner reported it was almost warn though as it rode on his neckless for a long time, ver old and his late grandmother's. His dog pawed his neck when he lost it he watched it go off the dock at 10' to 12' deep. Never found that ring after several SCUBA dives and the put me directly over the drop zone. I was using my Excalibur II. May go back this summer for another go at it, it has to be there unless some kids nabbed it before I arrived to search for it the first time. If I ever recover it I post a video report, just maybe the ring is split... Cheers, --> #SeattleRingHunter
Hi neighbor! 😃 So are you favoring the Equinox over the Excalibur these days? How does the Nox do in our highly mineralized So Cal beaches? Which performs better on our beaches??
I would love to get into digging. Unfortunately, my fake knees, arthritis all over and fibromyalgia don't allow me to bend very well. So fascinating. Love watching your videos!
thanks man, that is an awesome video. definitly shows why you either love or hate the nox. basically anything can have any number lol and with 5 tones there is no help. thanks again.
I thought it was a bad video because of the image that only the detector screen was visible when any ring approached. I also want to emphasize that as of min.21 the lcd screen of the detector was no longer possible. I would also like to comment that these numbers are also indicated in multiple objectives that have nothing to do with noble metals such as silver and gold.
Just got my NOX , Thanks so much , you have no selfishness in you your advice and Patience for all your viewers, GodBless you , some day I hope to Hunt with you
Hello Tony. Loved the video because I am looking to get out of my Fisher 44 and Sea Hunter to get a E 800. Two questions please. 1. Do you mainly hunt beach? Because I love being at the beach but my beach being less than a hundred yards away is always filled with depositors. The problem I have is that the fisher does only dry sand and dirt oh yes also fresh water (only the coil). And the Sea Hunter, I have been working for several months and seeing that I am in Brazil and this is the Capital country of bottle caos and pull tabs, I get good tones but I need to be able to hear them. I crank up the volume on both ( Fisher vol and SH Threshold) and the sounds of gold or any other precious metal is still not distinguishable. This is why I am tired of them. I am not getting the results I am looking for. And question 2. I wish that I could send you my sand, my fisher and SH and you tell me what I am doing wrong. I love metal detecting but if I don’t get a machine that rocks, I think I will have to give up. Oh yes and is there a big difference between the 600 and 800
I hunt mostly beaches. I’d hunt more on dry land but it kills my knees. The 600 lacks the 20 and 40 kHz gold nugget frequencies and a few other features you wouldn’t miss unless you were a nugget hunter. It has two less swing speed settings and doesn’t come with a pair of wireless headphones like the 800.
Wow, that’s a tough one. It really depends on a whole lot of factors. For my beaches I use beach 2, iron audio on, 50 tones, volume max and set sensitivity to taste. Everything else factory default. I don’t have a favorite set of settings because conditions are continuously changing. I think ya just gotta use it and tweak stuff as ya go.
i hunt all metal and dig it all - love following cherry pickers - followed a guy with Excal discrim cranked and found a nice diamond last year between his holes in amongst the iron he passed up
I guess we can mask out 5 and under to skip the foil? That will make things a bit more tolerable. I thought though that some gold chains came in in that range.
Hi Mike. Here on SoCal beaches I hunt in pp mode and switch to disc to ID the target. Threshold barely audible, volume max, sensitivity from 6 to max or if I’m lazy that day I put it in auto. Disc set at minimum. Your mileage in Florida may vary 😄
Thank you for this video. You got it Tony. Dig it all! Can you also do this test with the CTX 3030? I think the corona bottle cap will chatter on the CTX? Do you think the CTX is a better machine then the Equinox 800? Happy Hunting
I don’t own a CTX so I really don’t know how they would compare. A few of my buddy’s own CTXs and tell me they can discriminate better and are better at IDing targets but lately I notice they are swinging Equinoxes😄.
I don't pay much attention to numbers. I let the machine talk to me. When it crackles it's a Bobby pin, paper clip or a chain. Pi on the beach and dig it all.
As a Nox owner, this video was very helpful..great video, thank you. Alot of nice pieces of jewelry there. The men's band that rang up as a 33? I'm not sure if that's solid gold all the way through. The core might be stainless, that's why its ringing 33. I bet it's plated 24k. I wouldnt trust an acid test because you aren't hitting the core. There is counterfeit stuff out there that exists, it's supposed to be stamped plated, if it really is.
Certainly an eye opener! We’re there any patterns at all? A couple of questions: Which firmware version was this on? Which scan mode was this on? Does it change with different hertz selected? Was there ID consistency if the scan was done at 90 degrees to original?
Excellent test . I have always said the VDI should be 0/100 to 40 to me to cluttered . You cant pin out down with the VDI number ????? Dig it all what's the poInt of a VDI ????? But had some nice finds with the noxie one that sticks in my mind a cut half hammered silver . Rang up at 10 . Field 1 5T , SENS 16 popped that 10 inch . The Noxie loves small items . The 15 is a master piece works great I drop 2 on sens as we are iron infested in the North east UK . Mind boggling lol.
This is a superb demonstration, the best I’ve seen that drives the point home. I really wanted to see how jumpy the VDI was, as I often rely on that as an indicator of target quality when it’s not very deep. I just found a plated necklace that rang up a steady 1 on the Nox. Lots of trash around, but couldn’t pass up the solid hit.
Very interesting Tony you proved your point. Design a beautiful ring for you wife and daughter with melting some it down. Your multi talented...bet after some research you could do it all.
I don't mean to be disrespectful but what is the point of a expensive machine if you have to dig everything anyway? I own a Nox 800 but frankly, I expected a more help with object identification than what your research shows. If I am going to dig everything, why do I need to spend so much?
Hey bud. I really don’t have an answer for ya. I bought my Equinox knowing up front what it’s limitations were. So I knew what I what I was getting when I spent my money. I’m pretty sure I’m going to dig everything regardless of the machine I’m using😄.
@@TonyEisenhower Yes. I understand. I am just trying to reason through technological advancements. Also, one thing I particularly enjoy is learning new interfaces. Thanks for the response.
Although I don't own a "NOX". It was interesting to see the video context. Now get out there and fill in the rest of those numbers with Gold ! lol lol GL&HH
@@TonyEisenhower Yea! If i was rich i would 😂😂 I have a E-Trac, you could send me the targets and the paper snd i run the test. Ill hold my breath till they get here.😂😂 I am looking for a water resistant machine in your opinion would you buy the Equinox again?
LOL!! If you go under water, The Excal is your machine. Otherwise, i think the NOX is a better machine for everything else. My Excal is not getting much use these days:)
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I'm an inland coin hunter and almost never dig targets in those ranges because around an old homestead it would be junk 99.9 percent of the time and you just can't dig that much in a yard. Thanks Mark. Sorry about the dark screen.
Thank you again for this great video. I’ve watched it before, loved it. Refreshing my memory now that I’ve used the Nox for a bit.

Nope, I just use default settings for the most part: beach II, sens around 20, 50 tones, etc. Thanks for watching.

Yep, sometimes😁

I don’t own a CTX so I really don’t know how they would compare. A few of my buddy’s own CTXs and tell me they can discriminate better and are better at IDing targets but lately I notice they are swinging Equinoxes😄.
I don't pay much attention to numbers. I let the machine talk to me. When it crackles it's a Bobby pin, paper clip or a chain. Pi on the beach and dig it all.
I do like not having to deal with iron on the beach. Unfortunately we got a lot of it..
Thanks bud. The ring is stamped 24k but I think I will have it checked out.
Don't need, because pure gold really sounds very high like that. Have tested here with a 1 ounce gold coin.
Just shared your video in our group .:))) .International Equinox Users Group ! Thanks Tony Boi !!
Nice to be appreciated👍
Can you please tell me what mode or how you set the detector up please
i find the VDI more relevant to size, and tone for material
I agree..
Thanks!
Could you do a how-to vid when you epoxy your 15" coil?!
GL HH
Will do
BTW, that gold chain will hit on any beach mode. I think the tone break on park 1 is cut off higher.
Certainly an eye opener! We’re there any patterns at all?
A couple of questions:
Which firmware version was this on?
Yep, love that 15” Thanks for watching mate. ATB from SoCal
Very informative video. Thanks, Tony.
Thanks for watching Pete
What brand of detector are you using, is it water proof?
Minelab Equinox 800. Yes, waterproof.
Did you quote Monica from Friends at 7:21??
Well if I did it wasn’t intentional 😄

/\ That is what I was talking about. You said 7..7....777. Lol.
Dig it all!!! Great vid Tony!
Welcome to the SBCP...The Society of Beach Clean-up Professionals
Are you kidding me. I’m a charter member😄
Please turn on the screen backlight so we can see the VDI
Good idea👍 where were you when I started the vid😁
This is a superb demonstration, the best I’ve seen that drives the point home. I really wanted to see how jumpy the VDI was, as I often rely on that as an indicator of target quality when it’s not very deep. I just found a plated necklace that rang up a steady 1 on the Nox. Lots of trash around, but couldn’t pass up the solid hit.
I'd be leery of that 24k band other than that a great example of signals Tony, nice collection of rings too!
Yeah. It rings up way to high for pure gold dontca think.
Very interesting Tony you proved your point. Design a beautiful ring for you wife and daughter with melting some it down. Your multi talented...bet after some research you could do it all.
I’ll think about it. Could be satisfying.
oh! And what is the name of your lightweight scoop? (Some Russian made name?)
Stavr from Ukraine.
Very educational, thanks for sharing
I wonder how Excalibur would do on same test?
I actually thought about a side by side but the dang video is already 30 min long. The Excal woulda made it a lot longer.
Although I don't own a "NOX". It was interesting to see the video context.
Now get out there and fill in the rest of those numbers with Gold !
lol lol GL&HH
Lol!!
Thus endeth the lesson ... or however Sean Connery said it, in The Untouchables.
Tony, do these numbers also apply in the beach mode?
Yup, pretty much the same comparison.
Would be great to see the screen for all like the coins and change
I know, I know.. I blew it🤨
It would be nice to see what other machines would do with those same finds like a ctx 3030 or e-trac or any other good machine.
I agree. So send me a CTX and an Etrac and I’ll compare em😄
