Thanks for the video. This is why the people who rarely ever dig gold rings will tell you that gold rings ring up like a nickel. Very few rings ever do. Great work.

Dug everything yesterday at a local freshwater beach and campground. Wifey and I spent five hours there - DIGGING ALMOST EVERYTHING. Our take? 84 cents - and three pounds of trash! Tons of bottle caps, old pop tops, bunches and bunches of melted aluminum burned up in campfires, tent pegs, beer cans in various stages of disintegration, fish hooks, nails, toy cars, bullets (this is Nevada after all), and who knows what all else. I will NOT be digging everything anymore. Oh, and thank God for our Garret pinpointers! If I thought I could find a huge bunch of rings like this, I may dig-it-all. But at MY beach, in MY state, not so much - ha.

Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I'm an inland coin hunter and almost never dig targets in those ranges because around an old homestead it would be junk 99.9 percent of the time and you just can't dig that much in a yard. But I'm going to the beach and brining my 800 with me so I will be digging all those low tone thanks to this very well thought out video. Thanks to you and maybe I'll get a ring.

Thank you so much for this video! I always wondered what you guys were talking about in the video when you would say A nice low town or a nice hi tone. Now I know thanks to your video! Great video Tony! Also a great demonstration of the conductivity of pure gold vs alloyed gold. Gold alloys have far poorer conductivity than pure gold. Just a small percent of other metals cause the conductivity of gold to drop dramatically, even if the other metals are a good conductors, like copper or silver.

Most people In my opinion who metal detect for at least one year will eventually slow down on cherry picking targets . This video is a great example of why cherry picking can sometimes be disappointing. The nox is nice but benching my ctx is very difficult for me. Good luck buddy. Big Mex

It helps to consider the area you are in. Its a higher probability to find rings around gardens, flower beds, and swimming holes. Coins I find more around houses especially paths to doorways or within 10 feet or so of house. But close to house is also more nails and junk in general

Certainly an eye opener! We’re there any patterns at all?
    A couple of questions:
Which firmware version was this on?
Which scan mode was this on? Does it change with different hertz selected?
Was there ID consistency if the scan was done at 90 degrees to original?

I dig in 5 tones mostly parks and freshwater. I use Field 1 and park 2. Usually in parks don't look for gold, but silver about 90% of time you can recognize by "sweeter" swooshy sound while copper is more of a dull high tone. I am planning to go for gold more and I wonder if you can tell that with gold vs. aluminium the same way. Maybe on 50 tones. Thinking of doing video on that.

Well Tony that was a very impressing video you definitely have to dig everything I was really hoping that when you passed that thin balled up gold chain over the coil you would have gotten at least a soiled 1or 2 on the screen. there is a video on Utube showing two guys in nee deep ocean water showing a small gold chain stretched out on the bottom and getting a soiled 1 reading and a repeatable low tone on the Equinox 800 he then asked his buddy to try and see if he could detect it with his Excal and he could not. did you see that video. if so what do you make of it, looked very encouraging . now I am not impressed..Joe. from Canada..

Very very interesting Tony, it has me second guessing my temptation to buy an 800 for the beach. I dig it all with my Pi's anyhow...hmmm. I don’t own a CTX so I really don’t know how they would compare. A few of my buddy’s own CTXs and tell me they can discriminate better and are better at IDing targets but lately I notice they are swinging Equinoxes😄.

Hello Tony. Loved the video because I am looking to get out of my Fisher 44 and Sea Hunter to get a E 800.
Two questions please. 1. Do you mainly hunt beach?
Because I love being at the beach but my beach being less than a hundred yards away is always filled with depositors.
The problem I have is that the fisher does only dry sand and dirt oh yes also fresh water (only the coil). And the Sea Hunter, I have been working for several months and seeing that I am in Brazil and this is the Capital country of bottle caos and pull tabs, I get good tones but I need to be able to hear them. I crank up the volume on both ( Fisher vol and SH Threshold) and the sounds of gold or any other precious metal is still not distinguishable.
This is why I am tired of them. I am not getting the results I am looking for.
And question 2. I wish that I could send you my sand, my fisher and SH and you tell me what I am doing wrong. I love metal detecting but if I don’t get a machine that rocks, I think I will have to give up. Oh yes and is there a big difference between the 600 and 800

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  5 років тому

I hunt mostly beaches. I’d hunt more on dry land but it kills my knees. The 600 lacks the 20 and 40 kHz gold nugget frequencies and a few other features you wouldn’t miss unless you were a nugget hunter. It has two less swing speed settings and doesn’t come with a pair of wireless headphones like the 800.

Wow, that’s a tough one. It really depends on a whole lot of factors. For my beaches I use beach 2, iron audio on, 50 tones, volume max and set sensitivity to taste. Everything else factory default. I don’t have a favorite set of settings because conditions are continuously changing. I think ya just gotta use it and tweak stuff as ya go.

Hi Mike. Here on SoCal beaches I hunt in pp mode and switch to disc to ID the target. Threshold barely audible, volume max, sensitivity from 6 to max or if I’m lazy that day I put it in auto. Disc set at minimum. Your mileage in Florida may vary 😄

As a Nox owner, this video was very helpful..great video, thank you. Alot of nice pieces of jewelry there. The men's band that rang up as a 33? I'm not sure if that's solid gold all the way through. The core might be stainless, that's why its ringing 33. I bet it's plated 24k. I wouldnt trust an acid test because you aren't hitting the core. There is counterfeit stuff out there that exists, it's supposed to be stamped plated, if it really is.

Thanks bud. The ring is stamped 24k but I think I will have it checked out.

Don't need, because pure gold really sounds very high like that. Have tested here with a 1 ounce gold coin.

Just to fill in your 1, my friend found an expensive (sold for 6k) wedding ring on the beach and it rang a 1.

I'd be leery of that 24k band other than that a great example of signals Tony, nice collection of rings too!

Do you think the Excalibur would have missed a lot of these? I’m still loving mine, finally got my shoulder strong enough for the weight.

I thought it was a bad video because of the image that only the detector screen was visible when any ring approached.
I also want to emphasize that as of min.21 the lcd screen of the detector was no longer possible.
I would also like to comment that these numbers are also indicated in multiple objectives that have nothing to do with noble metals such as silver and gold.

@@TonyEisenhower Thank you for answering. May I ask, do you still get money from UA-cam if u don’t add videos? I’m still NOT monetized.

17:08 now I wonder if this is why I was never able to recover a shallow water thin gold band ring. Owner reported it was almost warn though as it rode on his neckless for a long time, ver old and his late grandmother's. His dog pawed his neck when he lost it he watched it go off the dock at 10' to 12' deep. Never found that ring after several SCUBA dives and the put me directly over the drop zone. I was using my Excalibur II. May go back this summer for another go at it, it has to be there unless some kids nabbed it before I arrived to search for it the first time. If I ever recover it I post a video report, just maybe the ring is split... Cheers, --> #SeattleRingHunter
