The lesson I’ve learned after doing many tutorials: always watch the full video before you try to make something. My first project, a patchwork cardigan, i did not watch the video before sowing the squares together (once I make a square I immediately sow it together) so i ended up doing it wrong and because I had only bought so much yarn, I wasn’t able to fix it. I just mentioned this because she realized she had an extra square, and if you are watching how things go you can mess up. Lesson: watch the full video before you start.
I had to re-do the placement of the neck squares like 4 times before I figured it out for myself! haha so i had to make sure I explained them properly in my video 😊
I'm 62 years old. I used to own that couch. It was given to me by my sister-in-law who had bought a new one. I really liked it. It's handy to be able to remove the cushion covers to wash them. Couches now a days...not so much.
thank u so much for making this video!! I love how you also went into detail explaining what some stitches did or why you did them, it really helped me when I needed to read the stitches ❤
I’m new here. I found this video because I want to make a balaclava, but now I’m distracted and hyperventilating because I want to make a granny square pillow with those same colors and I love it soooo muchhhhchajahshdndnd 😍😍
I must make this! I`m new to crocheting, but I`ve knocked out a couple of easy cardigans and I think I`m ready to tackle something with granny squares. I just want to be a granny square babushka!! Also, I LOVE your sweater in this video.
Hi, I am so confused! So I have laid out all my granny squares like in 22:42 - when attaching the bottom row of granny squares to the row above, is that when I do the skipping the sixth stitch and if so would it still like this diagram once the bottom row is attached? or does the stitch skipping happen at a different point of putting it altogether (and if so when)? not sure if this comment makes sense just really confused but love the pattern and want to finish!!
Help pleeease :) the instructions were amazing in this video but I got lost at the point of attaching the neck part to the hood :(. My hood is fully connected, so from here I need to connect the neck to the hood but offsetting by 5cm on each side as shown in 22:42? I got confused with which squares need to be stitched using the "miss the 6th" method. Sorry hoping someone can help as I really want to finish this project!
Did we ever get clarification on this? I am confused at the same point as well. I think she’s talking about connecting the back neck and hood squares, but I’ll definitely have to wing it and hope it comes out well. 💁🏻♀️
I figured this out if anyone needs help. When you're connecting the hood to the neck(in the back after offsetting), you will use the slip stitch 5 times as normal and then skip a stitch in the hood, but go into the next stitch on the neck. After I really sat down and thought about it, it made sense. Sew(pun intended), when you sew the back area this way, it will be offset and then you'll sew the two partials of the middle hood section to the one square in the front(neck square). You'll need to make sure to loosely fold the balaclava as it will be assembled because I made the mistake of offsetting too much and had to frog. If anyone has questions, let me know! This is such a fun and cute project!
Yes I believe that five layers is a little bit smaller than six layers I am not to sure about four layers if the yarn strength when you wash the balaclava
i’m super new to crocheting i wanted to ask.. does it matter what design granny squares to make? or can i make any granny square but just be able to attach it together?
i think you could do it with any squares you want as long as they are all the same size and match the dimensions of the ones in the video( 8x8 inches) which you could accomplish by adding extra rounds to whichever square you are creating if necessary. Otherwise, if the squares you make are smaller, the balaclava itself will be smaller and might not fit the same as the creators. Hopefully that makes sense lol
It looks so cute and I plan on doing it but I notice you do live in a winter place with snow like me, I wonder if you were cold since there are a lot of holes in it?
No shade for real for real, but it's so funny to hear someone think that yarn from 2017 is old yarn! My old ass thinks any of my yarn after the 90's is still new.

I know exactly what you mean.
I messed up my project by either not watching it fully or skimming 😭😭
the drawing helps!!!!!! thank you for explaining the neck squares so well

@@michelle_jasek seeing you struggle and figure it out makes me appreciate the diagrams all the more 😈
This is exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, what my thoughts sound like, 24/7.
This made me wonder why there isnt a universal granny square standard. I love it, great job! ❤

I made this and after a few idiotic mistakes it turned out pretty cute!! Thanks for the tutorial 💞
MY FAMILY HAD A COUCH WITH THAT MATERIAL IN THE 90's NO WAY.
If you don't like weaving ends in granny squares, try next time "weave in as you go" method. This is how I hide mine last time.🙂
when you said you were skipping the “magic loop” i actually jumped for joy
This is just adorable! And it looks great on you 😊
Thank you 😊

Your crocheted balaclava looks very lovely anyway
also, after chaining 1 did you go and chain 4 more as you did in the first? Tried slowing the playback to see what you did but too fast 10:15
does the square for the top of the head have to be bigger?
Do you have the pattern? Thx great vid
hi, what time of yarn did you use?
Why didn’t I watch this before following along 😭 when she decided to take out one of the squares I’ve already attached them all together
I am just about to finish mine from your first video and I wish I could send it to you 😭😭😭😂😂😂 I did horrible.
just wondering tho- can you make the granny squares smaller if you want the hood to fit better on your head? ty!
It ahould work. Make the squares smaller, but you may need to make more squares.
i’m super new to crocheting i wanted to ask.. does it matter what design granny squares to make? or can i make any granny square but just be able to attach it together?

Any should work ❤
